This branch is small and shares a building with the local senior center. Getting in and and out of the parking lot can be tricky, as the main road by the branch is very busy and you'll have a wait.
They have a decent selection of books, but not much. They order from other libraries usually, and it takes a few days to come in. The wifi is slow at times, and they have a few computers. Ultimately, this is a good place if you come in to study.
Now, the problem. For such a small branch, this place has a high turnover rate for staff. I went in this past Wednesday (2/22/17), and found myself meeting yet another new staff member (I believe her name was Stephanie.) I asked her if she could look up a book and order it from another library, and she acted VERY reluctant to do so. She did not make me feel very welcome. I found this strange, but shrugged it off as I assume she's new. So when push came to shove, she could not find the book I was looking for in the system. I asked if it was possible to order (the library does order books that aren't in the system), and she AGAIN was reluctant, if not clueless on how to order. And again, I got the feeling she didn't want me there. (Perhaps she should look into other fields for work, as customer service doesn't seem to be her forte.)
So I gave up my quest, and decided to sit down and send a few emails on my laptop. A woman came in after me asking for a book, and I witnessed Stephanie (I think that was her name) AGAIN give this half-hearted, uninterested response to the woman. Yikes! If this is the type of attitude we're getting here, I'll make the trek out to Redlands or Yucaipa to use the library, as this girl couldn't have been any less interested in helping people. Maybe it was an off day for her, but as someone who is semi-regular, she's going to turn folks away fast.
Customer service is a big thing for me, and I tend to take poor customer service personally. I might be willing to give this person a second chance, but I'm not holding out a whole lot of hope.
It's a good library if you get the right staff. If not, you're better off going to Redlands or Yucaipa. read more
