We always make it a point to stop for lunch at Cabanas when we're out on the water. They've recently upgraded from umbrellas to a full patio roof, which made a big difference--the extra shade was much appreciated. Service was outstanding as always--we were seated right away and started off with their refreshing and delicious orange crush. We shared the nachos to start, and they were fantastic. Portion sizes here are generous and definitely hit the spot. The new favorite on the menu is the crab salad sandwich--absolutely delicious. And the Doug Hollow burger remains a long-time favorite. You only have two choices for a stop at this lake. For this reason they are always busy. Service is slow and the food is regular bar food. Good outdoor bar but the sun beeps on half the crowd and it gets hot. So be ready to wait and not receive a second round because by the time they come around you are ready to leave if you are not in the shade. read more

Overall meh and underwhelming. Don't plan on going back for food. Service was good. Ambiance was nice. Drinks were average. A few of the beers had a born-in date that was nearly a year ago. Three of us had the "fish n chips" and we universally hate them. The mahi was so overcooked that it was offensive. We were half drunk and starving and still just picked at it. Have eaten here several times in past with no issues. However we waited for almost two hours for our food. Table of 6 that was sat right at opening of restaurant, it was not busy. We asked after an hour and a half what was wrong. They stated it was the cold crab sandwich. We said we could get something else. They stated it would be right up. Another 25 minutes later and we finally got served. Talked to the waiter and ask him to do something for us. Food is good. They don't provide sufficient shade at your table, so expect some of your party members to get toasty while waiting on the food. (That's what happened to me) They have no menu online, which would have been nice since you are waiting for a while. We found a menu from a review but it is apparently outdated and like half of their menu items are not being offered anymore from that old menu. I wish I would've listened. First impressions can make or break a place, and this one doesn't make a good one. Our interaction with the hostess was awful. She absolutely hates her job and it shows. No smile, no welcome, no warmth of any kind. I get that people are relentlessly overworked right now, so I give concessions, but this was beyond the pale. All could have been forgiven had the food been good, but it just... wasn't. There seems to be no care given to preparation or presentation. Again, I get that this is a bar for boaters, but come on. They eat too, don't they? The setting is very pretty, and that is the saving grace for this place. It could, I think, actually be a pretty great hangout if they just cared a little more. If you just want to grab a drink and sit by the lake, I guess knock yourself out. Otherwise, please listen to the reviewers and just say no. read more

Family decided to go on lake today for a nice boat ride. Decided to drop by here today to get a quick bite to eat after. Started off by getting 4 drinks and they took 15 minutes to be taken to the table. Then ordered 4 sandwiches as well. It took 1 HOUR to get all the food and even the waiter told us it is taking forever. Food finally came out and the fries for some of the food were so thin and over cooked. The burger patty was double the size of the bun so that wasn't good. Kinda dissapointing considering this is the only restaurant on the lake.PS they charge you extra for a side of fries and the waiter never let us know that we get chips with every meal. If you are looking to spend over $200 on a dinner that is enough food to only feed about two people then this is the place for you! We went with a group of four adults and five kids. The food not only came out wrong but cold as well. We ordered the pork tacos, coconut shrimp tacos and the crab cake tacos. The flavorings were good but when rolled up was about the width of a quarter. We were missing half the food we ordered and we had waiting so long with the kids that we called it a loss and just left. The manager was made aware but didn't do anything to fix it. So we paid the bill and went home and made hamburger helper at 10:30 pm. Hostess was not welcoming and didnt smile or anything. Ive been a hostess but come on its not that hard to say hello and give a smile and be kind. Drinks and food were good. They shortened there menu and took off some of their best items like their fish tacos. There needs to be more shade! The umbrellas don't cover more than 1 person at the table, and after getting off the lake people want some shade. They have the hooks on the posts to do so. read more

The worst service ever at the tiki hut. Kevin, the bartender, was rude the second we walked up. Did not allow SERVICE dogs. Would not serve alcohol to 30+ year olds because no ID, however we did have a picture of our passports. On our most recent trip to the cabana, the food was a little disappointing to say the least. It's almost like the portions were about half of what they should've been normal. Also the men's bathroom the last two times I've been there was full of flies. Directly located across from the kitchen which didn't make me feel too comfortable about the food I was eating. Terrible customer service. Two younger girls working outside by the bar rolled their eyes and were unbelievably rude, no one ever came over to ask us if we wanted a drink or to order food. I enjoyed Cabana Lake Keowee. I came on a Sunday evening and was pleasantly surprised to find they had live music playing. The performer was wonderful and played music that I felt appealed to all audiences regardless of age. Two particular women stood out for their friendly demeanor and attention to service. I believe their names were Brooke and Sara. They worked as a team and it was nice to see the team aspect instead of "every man for themselves." I did notice one of the managers seemed to be giving one of the girls a hard time when she was clearly working so hard and the customers were happy. As someone who worked in the service industry for five years in California, I have to say that the more respect and appreciation a manager or higher authority shows their employees, the more the employees enjoy working (and working hard) for their employer. A good restaurant provides a good culture for not just the guests dining there, but for all the staff as well and it starts at the top. My first time visit was a week ago and I didn't have a very good experience. The waitress we had was very nice and helped us get situated when a downpour came while we were eating. One thing I'm not happy about is being charged for two sandwiches we never received. I was charged $95 for 2 burgers, 2 nachos, a side of Mac and cheese, 5 teas, & 2 philly sandwich's that I never received that should have been taken off of my order ! The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the view and location. Every time there is something half way decent on the menu, they change it. Been going there only because there are not many options on the lake and feel they have a captive audience. The staff is beyond rude with the exception of one waitress. The main Bartender must be related to the owners because their is no way on earth he belongs in the public eye. So if you want to be ignored, deal with rude hostesses, bartenders, serving staff and bad food. This is the place for you! read more
