After a week of non stop seafood feasting, we were looking for some meat to balance our foodie experience out. I had read on several blogs that Cabaças was a unique dining experience and we made our way for lunch. They open at 12 and we arrived at 11:55am not expecting there to be much of a line. We were the second party to be seated but were glad we got there when we did since the tiny hole in the wall packed up shortly after opening. We ordered the spicy grilled chorizo to start, the naco au piedra steak- which is the fatty piece of steak for €10 that you get to grill to your liking on a hot stone. We also ordered a house special steak that came with a fried egg and french fries. The chorizo was good. The hot stone steak was delicious! And the house special was alright. The inside is very unique as it almost looks like the inside of a grandmas home. Very dark and has quite a few tables but you have to inconvenience people to get up and move when you're ready to get up and go.

This is one of my favorite place in Lisbon !

Don't be followed by the tourist ! This place is amazing in every way for the meat lovers ! Though they do have a lots of tourist, it's a very local place where you get to "cook" your own meat. Why pay to cook your own meat in a restaurant, you ask?! Because it's AMAZING!!! Small place with great service. People standing in line outside, and you are usually told you have 1 hour to eat but it's worth it ! The line and 1 hour is nothing compared to the food and the feeling of being in Portugal. This place is all about meat, so if you aren't a big meat lover or a vegetarian/vegan DONT GO. However if you love meat, and you want to decide how cooked or uncooked you want it, GOOOO !!!! We paid for wine (for 2 people) 2 colas, for hot plates of meat, fries * 2 and salad * 2, a total of 10€ !!! I cannot recommend this place enough. Try it out, enjoy some good meat and a very causal but delicious dinner

We ordered the: -Octopus Hot Dog (of course!) -Roasted Sardine Niguiri -Pan Sear Prawns and Garlic -Tuna tartare on toasted brioche with white chocolate and lime -Fried Seabass -Lobster Roll -Fried Scallops Overall everything was pretty good, but I wasn't in love with everything. The one stand out dish was definitely the Fried Seabass. It was really good! Sadly the Octopus Hot Dog was a bit underwhelming as I kept getting some hard pieces with every bite. The service was very friendly and quick. So although I most likely won't be coming back, I'm glad I tried Sea Me. Croacker Ceviche

There is one private booth table which we selected. It is a tapas style restaurant, so for two of us we ordered 6 dishes plus a dessert. The staff explains the menu and that a lower section shows larger dishes. We loved everything that we ordered but especially the lobster roll (their take don't expect a Maine style roll), sardine nigiri, garlic shrimp (the sauce was incredible and came with bread) and the dessert. The food came out very quickly but we were having dinner at 7pm. The total for two people was around 80 euro with the discount, but we did not get drinks other than still water.

On the basis of that and the super reviews at Yelp we came here. Nice welcome from the staff. The place has a nice feel to it and the design is old style Portugal and was filled at 10pm on a Saturday. There was no hurry and we were served and helped by several staff both for the wine and the menu We started with the breads and spreads which included several types of bread, tuna mousse, garlic butter cheese and olives. Each was delicious and the cheese was half a block served with a spoon. We had the octopus tartare which was a tower of thinly sliced Octopus with a delightful tangy sauce (olive oil, light mayo, and something citrusy). Entrees were the tiger prawns and cod cooked their way. The 3 tiger prawns were colossal but the consistency was firm and not tough. Grilled quickly on high heat and served with mango slices which were more on the sweet side. A nice combo - there was also some thicker balsamic sauce under the prawns which also helped draw out the taste of the prawns. The cod was grilled and served on 3 small potatoes skin on which were cooked and then lightly crushed. The fish was salty as required but not dry. The center was moist and the crunch edges were a nice combo. A tower of shredded broccoli was in the side and the dish and the entire plate was served in an olive oil bed. Delightful. We had low to medium expectations but we were impressed. Will be back. PS. We were also served a little port at the end. It was a nice way to end a solid Meal and was not as sweet.

Generous portions. Traditional feel. Decent service and prices. Worth checking out for sure.read more

The restaurant was lovely -- sleek, modern, minimalist, with elements of traditional Portuguese architecture integrated throughout. The softly playing background music was English light rock on repeat. Dishes we ordered included: - "Sardinha assada em tosta de broa de milho e salada montanheira" ("Fresh grilled sardine fillet on toasted cornbread and mountain salad") €16.90. De-boned, but not my thing. - "Ostras nacionais ao natural" (Oysters). €22.90. Great. - "Arroz de marisco com lagosta, camarão-tigre, gambas e amêijoas do Algarve (2 pessoas)" Seafood Rice for 2 people with lobster, tiger shrimp, prawns, and clams. €79.90. Great. This came in a covered pot hat the waiter portioned and served. There were about four servings total from this dish. Each serving had a good amount of lobster, shrimp, and clams. My sparkling green wine paired nicely with this dish. Service was impeccable. For example, they: - placed a stool beside my chair to separately seat my phone and camera. - cleaned the tablecloth when my companion stained it with red wine. - held my backpack in a secure room while we ate. I thought the restaurant was a little pushy on dessert. We weren't thinking of dessert because our tourist diet already had too much sugar from too many Pastéis de Nata, but we relented. The desserts, while tasty and sweet, were not memorable. Complementary Wi-Fi is available.

From the moment you walk through the door until that giant desert display comes around you will be lavished with luxury, great food and service. Our party was five people and we all enjoyed our dishes. While we all were a little under dressed I would suggest at least business casual. The restaurant is set in an old building with very nice architecture. I would certainly come back again

The great news is that with Mini Bar, you get the best of both worlds - the creative menu without needing a babysitter. Mini Bar is kid friendly, and the server we had was so awesome with our kids that I can't sing his praise though. We opted for the Tasting Menu, and ordered a pizza and fries for the kids. The food arrived pretty quick, until we hit the mains, then it slowed down a bit too much for my liking. The space is pretty interesting, and there's plenty of room, so you don't feel squished in. All in all though, great experience. Happy that I got to have my meal without having to ditch my kids with a stranger in a foreign country.
