DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I was connected to CA floors through Floor and Decor. They are in theory vetted and approved as a quality vendor. The initial experience was good, as they responded quickly and gave me a bid to repair the floor upstairs in my townhome that has water damage. The quoted me a price and told me that the job would take 3-5 days. This is the text thread from David: Once you pay the deposit and purchase the materials, we'll contact you to schedule the installation. If everything is done by tomorrow, we can dispatch our team as early as the end of next week or the beginning of the week of July 21. The project itself will take about 3-5 days to finish, unless we need to do surface leveling (which requires drying time and is a separate charge, as noted in the disclaimer) I needed to buy the material on line from Floor and Decor, and then I got this text. Yes, our guys will pick up the materials from the F&D on the day of installation, will try to make it 7/21st. I arrived 10 days later. No one was working, my stairs were half covered with trash bags. This was my text: Just arrived. No one working. What is the status? We need to get this done. DAVID OKHOTIN: Let me check with the installers LifeSource Me: Stair coverage is terrible. Couch is dirty. Please call me DAVID OKHOTIN: I did not hear from the installer yet, I'll keep you posted, just fyi Me: I assume someone is showing up tomorrow David is the GM of the business. He apparently had no idea where the installer was or why he was not working. There was then back and forth regarding additional material...grout, screws. I was required get this ordered an paid. I was not informed of this until 10 days into the job. On Friday, I had this exchange: DAVID OKHOTIN: The estimated completion day is Monday Tuesday next week. They will try to do sooner but they although work slower but make it right. We don't pay them hourly rate but per project, the only requirement is to do a great installation Apparently, way way more time than usual took demolishing and prep (not finished as the floor needs leveling). They are encouraged to work faster but the priority is to make it right. I have specifically addressed the issues of making sure the stairs and the couch are completely covered and kept clean. Me: Has to be complete by Tuesday. Friday I arrived, and again, no one working. I got this response: The installers will come tonight after 4:30pm to work, and they will also work over the weekend. They committed to finish on Tuesday the latest Tuesday: Me: Please give me a status update DAVID OKHOTIN: Most of the tile installed, grouting and finishing up tomorrow morning Wednesday: Me: We are on schedule? We need to sleep in the room tonight DAVID OKHOTIN: Jonathan was to do grouting around 4:30-5pm, we will need few hrs for grout to dry up. After that we will assemble the bed back It's going to be late tonight Job was not completed. We were forced to get a hotel. Thursday: Me: Work supposed to start at noon...no one here DAVID OKHOTIN: He will be there No more response. Again we need to get a hotel. Installer did not show up until 5pm Thursday and worked into the night. Job was not complete. I was told installer needed to come back to finish a small portion. I told them he could not be there after 5pm. I got no response. Monday I got a text from installer that he wanted to finish the job. I said ok, and never got a notice of completion. Tuesday I get a call from a person named Rick. Hard to believe the experience could get worse, but it did. He told me he is the ex GM, an he is working with the owner to help with customer service. He then proceeded to tell me that the current GM is terrible, but there is nothing he can do about it because he is the owner's twin brother. He told me that there are many unhappy customer. He then had me confused with another customer and said I had asked for a $265 discount. I never had any such a discussion. I told him I was forced to stay in a hotel for 2 nights. He then got angry and that is not their problem and I should have gone back to stay at my main house (2 hours away). He was rude and arrogant. I arrived at my place on Thursday and all the trash from the job was in my front yard. I got a call from Rick this morning demanding payment. I am only spending this much time with this much detail to deter other people from using this company. I will be letting Floor and Decor know that they should not recommend CA Floors. I have done complete remodels of 4 homes, and this is the worst experience by a long shot. read more

This review is not about the quality of the installation--the floors have been installed and look beautiful. However, this rating is based on the customer service and lack of communication resulting in additional stress in a time that was quite stressful to begin with. We were referred to Installation Made Easy by Floor and Decor, who contracted us with CA Floors. They sent their technician out to evaluate and provide us with a quote. I requested the earliest installation date possible and was assured it would be March 6th. We bought the materials, reached out, and again was told March 6th. A few days before March 6th I had not received any additional confirmation. I reached out and was told it had been moved to the following week--which would push our move in date by 6 weeks. I was then told that I should have communicated our move in date with them (which I HAD)! Ridiculous. After some unpleasant back and forth they were able to reinstate the 6th. Fast forward--gave instructions about which direction to install the flooring. Went to the house to take a look and it had been installed the opposite way. Really?! No time to fix it as we needed to move in on the designated weekend. Again, called and best they would do was give a discount on the labor, which was apparently more than we were quoted so the discount was truly minimal compared to what we had anticipated paying in the first place. Again, the installer did a beautiful job despite it being the incorrect direction. However, I'm certain you can find a company with better communication and upfront practices. Our flooring was purchased from Floor and Decor and installed by CA Floor subcontracted by Installation Made Easy. After few weeks from the installation 13 out of 21 stair noses split. The claim was submitted on August 16th, 2023. CA Floor was unresponsive for months with a long list of lies from the former manager Jacob which provided false information about the status of the replacement. We are now on December 15th and my stairs are still damaged with little or no support from CA Floor (and Installation Made Easy as well). I leave it to you readers to draw conclusions regarding the seriousness of this company. read more

Sadly, our install went terribly, thanks Floor & Decor for the recommendation. The crew was managed by Mr. Fernandez and it was a mess from the start. I was hopeful as the crew was extensive upon arrival. Mr. Fernandez soon came back requesting about 33% more cost than the estimated cost because of required additional materials for "leveling." I had already taken this step of leveling with my previous install, so I was surprised by this and agreed to about 1/8 his increased cost in order to ensure we were VERY level and keeping the warranty in tact as the installer requested. This set us back one day, but I really should have run at this point. Install did not go smoothly. Planks were repeating in pattern right next to each other (this material came with four different patterns), none of the edges were straight, with the wood pieces all off just slightly. They nicked the new floor with something heavy and sharp, and none of the baseboard corners fit well (my terribly crooked walls I guess could not be adjusted for in miter cuts). They moved appliances (as indicated and charged for in estimate), and then left them disconnected because connecting them again was a "liability." After completion, we had about 18% of the flooring material left after install, leaving me to believe the estimated area for install was hyper-inflated. We also had about 30% of our baseboards left over after install. These over estimates of floor sq. ft and baseboard linear feet likely increased our cost estimate, and were provided by Miguel. Truly just shoddy all over. I was hoping for experienced, but even a few youtube videos would have helped these guys out. * Job was scheduled to begin on November 14th at 9am (Confirmed with Sophia on 11/10), no one showed up so I called at 11am, CA Floors said they would send someone, who showed up at 2pm without the materials, no work order, and without tools; no work was completed. I received a message from floor and decor at 3 PM stating that the materials pick up was missed. * Nov. 15th 2 people showed up at about 10am and started demo, leaving at approx. 4:30pm. We were told by the lead installer they wouldn't be back on Wed. (11/16) because the lead guy had to take care of his daughter's passport. * Nov. 16th no workers. * Nov. 17th one guy showed up, did some demo and some tile in the bathroom. No tarps/plastic were put up and tile chips and residue were all over my entire house, including upstairs where no work occurred. He left about 4:30pm. * Nov. 18th the day the work was to be completed. They were still not finished with the demo. When I called the "Project Manager", who was really just the estimator (despite his business card stating he was the project manager) Miguel Ledesma asked me to try and talk the workers into coming back on the weekend. This is NOT the job of the customer! I called Sophia, who said she would send some additional crew members which arrived about noon and my husband found them all talking in our kitchen, no one knowing what to do and not working. They threw the entry tile in with the pattern going every which way. I paid extra for large format tile and expected the pattern to flow the same way. In addition there was black sharpie lines drawn on two of the tiles, we were told it would come off with nail polish remover, it did not. There was a broken tile that they glued together (see pic) and another tile that has a break (but not as noticeable). The guy told my husband, "I could cut that tile ten times and it would break". I had to buy two more large tiles for a different installer to install (additional $200.09), we also had to buy five more bags of thin set, not sure where the rest of the baseboard that we bought went, and we had to buy three extra T-Molding strips (see notes below). * Nov. 21st two guys showed up at around 9:30-10am and did some work, leaving by 4:30pm. * Nov. 22nd 11:21am no one showed up. * Nov.23rd two guys from the Ukarine came that did not speak English and used a phone translation to communicate, again, not the customers job to give direction on the project. They fixed the one broken tile and grouted. They installed the T-Bar transition from the entry to the kitchen and it was crooked (did not line up) (see pic) in addition, it was lifted in spots. Others were cut short; however my husband filled them in with caulk. The cover plates on the backsplash were left off, and when we put the cover plates on, there were gaps where the backsplash should have been. My husband put them back on and fill the gaps with caulk. * Nov. 28th the original installer came and replaced the two ruined sharpie stained tiles but said he could not repair the T-bar. I found a razor in my yard just off my porch, where they were working; thank goodness my grandchildren didn't step on it over the weekend. They also broke off a prong from a cord in my electrical receptacle and left it there. * 11/29 CA Floors said someone would come on 11/39 at 10 AM to fix the t-bar. * 11/30 A guy came to fix the t-bar and ended up chipping one of the tiles. He put the bar back on, but it was still raised, and he filled the raised parts with caulk. I let Sophia know and sent pictures and she responded " I see why he refused to send photos" * 12/2 Sophia said they would come on Monday between 9:30 and 10 to fix the t-bar. At 10:45 on Monday I received a message from Sophia saying the company president wanted to come look at it and that the installer was not comfortable fixing the t-bar. At 5:10 PM I texted Sophia letting her know that the president had not arrived. She responded saying he would be there in 30 minutes. He came and inspected the T -bar and spoke to my husband, saying it needed to get fixed and left. * 12/8 I finally heard back from CA Floors asking if they could come the following day to fix the t-bar, and I coordinated with them to come the following Monday 12/12. * 12/12 The T-bar was finally repaired appropriately. read more

We went to floor and decor in Rancho Penasquitos and they recommended Installation Made Easy who sent out Miguel from CA Floors to do an estimate the next day. For a small 170 sq ft space we were given a quote for the labor and materials. We picked everything up from Floor and Decor. The next day, Geraldo showed up to start this work and after pulling up the carpet, he explained that we needed more materials to properly level and prep the space before laying down the porcelains tiles. The work itself took about 3 days, each day he worked 5-6 hours. We were sent to the store 2 different times for more materials and in the end the estimate for the added labor and materials costed us almost $800.00 more than originally quoted. We are happy with the work and the floors look beautiful but it was a complete hassle to have to leave our work 2 separate times to run to Floor and Decor. Miguel needs to be more accurate with his estimate as the number of bags of thin set was 5 BAGs off and he didn't even add clips to his original estimate. While I realize that sometimes you don't know what you are working with until you pull the carpet up, to be that off with the estimate is ridiculous! This project costed 37% more than what we were quoted. To add more issues to this project, one of the workers left the water running in our backyard. I found out hours later after They left when I was in the backyard. The floors look great but something should be done or compensated for the added stress and aggravation. I shared my sentiments with Geraldo and he empathized with me but not much could be done as he's just an independent contractor. read more

I am am amazed.my quote for engineered wood by CA Floors was twice that of the market. The fact that Floor and Decor approves them working on their premises to offer labor only pricing where you get to supply them with everything. It changes a discounted product to High End installation pricing. Seems very sketchy when Home Depot installers do it all for 1/3 the price and they supply the underlayment. Also the measurement was incorrect by 165 square feet @ 7.50 per square raising the price by 25% approximately. Stay Away from the. I've never written a bad review, but our experience with CA Floors was disappointing. Floor and Decor in RP recommend Installation Made Easy, who contracted with this. Communication and customer service are poor. On more than 1 occasion I called to confirm they were coming, only to find out there were cancelling. Had I not called, I would not have known. They failed to show up to haul away old carpeting and I had to reach out to make that happen. On the final occasion that I was told they were not coming, I expressed my frustration regarding lack of communication and the unfinished project to Sean. He was absolutely rude and dismissive. I specifically asked for e mail confirmation of the rescheduled time, and did not receive one. I had to reach out again to confirm they were coming. When the project was finished, some flooring was not placed as indicated by the employee who gave the estimate. Furthermore, they left a mess in our living room. I understand that because of COVID these are difficult times and rescheduling does not seem unreasonable. I am My complaint is the lack of communication around this and the disregard for our time, as well as the unprofessional clean up when the project was completed. I would never recommend this company, which is disappointing. I have reached out to Installation Made Easy. UPDATE: Installation Made Easy has a great customer care department. They had this company come back out and finish up some leftover spots in a timely manner. They did all the communication with CA Floors. Update: I have seen the receipt for bags of leveling bought in bulk and they did offer to show my the empty bags they used. Flooring work took 6 days. The contract specifically says they will not do any "plumbing" work, but I pay a fee for the toilet which they remove ("not plumbing"), but they can't install it because it is "plumbing" work. --- I was shopping for flooring material at Floor and Decor and they referred me to Installation Made Easy. I spoke with Riley, the lead generator, and he convinced me to use Installation Made Easy because "these contractors have flooring licenses". Originally I was going to use a separate contractor because he's actually way cheaper (half the price of Installation Made Easy), but the other contractor didn't have a flooring license so I thought I should pay more for experience. I was matched with CA Floors. Joseph, the owner, came out and gave me an estimate on 800 sqft of flooring upstairs. He was 1 hour late for the estimate which I took as a bad sign, but he came off as nice and he said he had "over 30 years of experience". He wrote me an estimate in 15 minutes. I thought about it for two weeks since the price was hefty for labor-only work (I have to pay for all the materials myself), but I eventually signed the estimate. Joseph said that he would do "quality work" and it would take "3-4 days". My expectation was that they would start on Wednesday and finish on Saturday (Sunday, the next day, I had roommates moving in). I worked Wednesday and Thursday, so I come by the house again on Friday. Guess what? I find out from Sean, their general manager, that work wasn't started until Thursday. Nothing was done on Wednesday. I contact Joseph and by now he is a totally different man now that the contract has been signed. I asked him if the work would still be done in 3-4 days. He tells me that "we discussed quality". Yes, I did discuss quality work with him, but he promised me quality work in "3-4 days". I had to keep pushing him until he said "the work will be done Saturday night." It takes a long time to push him to do what was originally promised. When I first saw the house again on Friday after the job was started I found the furnace left on all night, windows completely open, ceiling fan on, lights on in the room, and someone made the extra effort to drag the heavy hose over the raised flowerbed which broke the branches off some of the plants. This is not how you leave someone's house if you are performing any work. I was in shock because I just had another contractor do work on my house for 1.5 weeks and their crew left my house exactly how they found it like no one was there expect the ceiling looked great! I contact Joseph to tell him how upset I was with how his crew left my house. What do you think Joseph said? He gets defensive and tells me that his workers have worked for his company for twenty-some years and he questions my "judgment". Well, I ask his worker, Daniel, and Daniel admits that he left the lights on, windows open, furnace on, and he did drag the hose through the flower bed. The estimate for the flooring work was originally about $3k (this is labor only) and at the time Joseph toured my house for the estimate he told me that it is possible they would use leveling material which would be $80/bag in addition to the estimated labor he was going to write me. I was fine with that because there is no way you can tell if a floor is level just by looking at it. Since he says he has thirty some years of experience, I asked him how many bags of leveling does he predict I would need for the 800 sqft of flooring. He gives me an estimate of 1-2 bags. Guess what? After the first day of work he sends me a modified estimate for $800 more than originally estimated which means 10 bags of leveling was used. That is 500-1000% more than he originally told me. If you have been doing flooring work for over thirty years you would think you know how many bags to guesstimate using. If he didn't work that long in the field I would consider this an honest mistake, but he says he worked on floors for over thirty years so I consider this an outright lie. I ask him to show me a receipt of the purchase for 10 bags of leveling. He says he buys the bags in bulk. Okay, let me see the receipt of the bags bought in bulk. He gets defensive and asks why I am questioning his integrity. He refers me to Sean. I ask Sean to show me the receipt for the bags of leveling bought in bulk. He tells me he would work on getting it for me. I still haven't seen the receipt! I have new floors now, but they are just reminders of a really awful experience and horrible memories. I really want to cover the new floors up with carpet. Getting a renovation should be a positive experience, but I spent thousands of dollars for floors I now don't want. Get another contractor. Joseph is getting leads through Floor and Decor for a reason. He's only nice until you sign the contract, then it all goes downhill. read more

I would give no stars if I could! Floor and Decor needs to remove this company from their list as well as IME. It took 4 months to get the job done. Many areas were done incorrectly and had to be redone. The installers were not licensed and did not have background checks as their website stated they did. We learned many disturbing things about the installer. Workers walked off the job halfway through. They left trash everywhere! The installer Mardo posted on You Tube that we refused to pay him. First of all he did not finish the job and secondly the contract stated we pay a deposit and the balance upon completion. Jacob the manager seemed overwhelmed and was in way over his head. Terrible communication and just made excuses. In the end the project did get finished but not after getting an attorney involved. CA Floors needs to make changes to how their business is run and do a better job of hiring competent floor installers and Managers. read more

I was assigned CA Floors through Installation Made Easy when I bought materials at my local Floor & Decor for a master bathroom remodel. Working with CA Floors has been the worst experience I've had throughout all the other good experiences with other contractors in remodeling projects. We were given wrong measurements and an underestimated time frame for the project to be complete, so we have had to go to the store multiple times and purchase additional materials. The installers show up 1-2 hours after the assigned time or do not show up at all and the scheduler, Sean has no regard for our time. Our project has been delayed significantly and today the installers did not show up again. There is a lack of communication and they never update us on if they are showing up late or canceling. Just moved from Los Angeles California to sunny San Diego, obviously the houses are way more expensive here so I got something not to new but mostly the only thing that needed to replaced for the house to look like a $700,000 was the floor and windows. Here's were CA Floors came in, they helped me with some doubts about the floor that i wanted and their installation and work is TOP QUALITY!! At a good price for what I learned from shopping around, at first I doubt it but I'm glad I went with them! I was over at San Diego for the vacations at a friend's place where he had just moved in. The flooring looked absolutely awful and we were in dire need for a change. 5 stars for Vitaliy and Vladimir. They are very dedicated workers and put in really long hours to provide great quality results. They are also really nice guys. 3 stars for the time estimate and not clearly explaining how much floor leveler might be required 3 stars for Installation Made Easy's estimation/billing process and Eastern Time Zone I hired CA floors through Installation Made Easy, the service used by Floor & Decor, where I bought my tile and supplies. We were removing about 1000 sq feet of carpet and installing tile planks that look like wood in the living & dining rooms, as well as in the office, a small closet, and stretch of floor connecting the rooms. We also had them remove the brick from the floor from the fireplace and install new baseboards for the same areas. My husband and I decided last minute to redo our floors before Christmas. I called Installation Made Easy the first week of December, around the 5th. They gave me contact info for CA Floors. Miguel came out the next day and provided the estimate for the job and said they could get it done before Christmas and in about 5 days. He provided the materials list with how much to buy of everything. I purchased the supplies from Floor & Decor over the weekend, and the project began on Monday. We were stoked! Vitaliy and Vladimir did all the labor. They came every day, all day, sometimes for 12 hours. They were polite and respectful, and they really cared about their work. Vitaliy is still perfecting his English, but whatever he didn't quite understand, Vladimir could translate. For the most part, though, language wasn't really an issue. These guys worked very hard and we are so pleased with our floors. Vitaliy wouldn't go home until he was satisfied with what he had completed. Once he didn't leave until 10 pm. I've never had a contractor as dedicated as he was. Now, the floors were not complete in 5 days as estimated, and the surprise cost of having to level the floors was substantial. I knew the cost of the leveler was $80 per bag, but I had no idea of how many bags were required and how little each bag covered. The amount the floor needed to be leveled really couldn't be determined until the carpet was already pulled up, so at that point we couldn't just say never mind. We had to continue. However, I think it would have been very beneficial if we had been told about how many bags could be required to level a certain size area by say, an inch. Also, since CA Floors is in Mira Mesa, my neighborhood, they probably have an idea of how level homes in this area are and might have been able to warn me of how much the additional cost could be. In my head, at $80 per bag, I guessed we might need up to 5 bags if our floor wasn't level. By the time our floor was level, it required 21 bags of leveler! Initially we bought 18 and then Vitaliy bought 3 more before it was done. Yikes! That added $1680 to the estimate. I also had to buy 12 more bags of thin-set than estimated. They were about $30/bag, so that was another $360. I also had to buy tile spacers that were not included in the estimate. The kitchen needed a different baseboard than the rest of the area, because the cabinets jutted out a little bit, and our baseboards were a little too tall to work there. That wasn't accounted for in the estimate, so we rushed out and bought some shorter baseboards for the kitchen. We had to hire a carpet guy to tack the carpet from the hall and s bedroom where it met the tile. Miguel gave me contacts and deducted that cost from our bill. Luckily the carpet guy was able to come out the next day, so it didn't impact the completion. It was easy to contact CA Floors with questions, and they responded quickly and professionally. Although it took 9 days instead of 5 to complete, and cost a couple thousand over the estimate, we are very happy with our floors and it was completed before our Christmas guests arrive. Vitaliy and Vladimir were great to work with and did an awesome job! They finished on Vitaliy's birthday, so we bought some cupcakes to celebrate. read more
