Whenever we are in the area we always like to stop here. One of the few pizza restaurants that have whole wheat dough. It is absolutely awesome. We get eggplant as the topping and are always pleased with this pie. Great job CJs!! read more

ate there last night 9/22/2012 / ordered a half meatball pizza and with the first bite tasted like blue cheese/ smelled one of the meatballs and it smelled terrible like turned yogurt/ Had the waitress smell one of the meatballs and she agreed/ Good thing is she 100% agreed and took it off the bill. She Told the owner but he did not care enough to come out. The meal actually should have been free. Prior to coming to this place, had been awhile. I'm glad I waited it out. Today's trip was a "special" event dinner for my younger brother who was going through some legal medical problems that were starting to become solved. When we got in there today on a Friday night at around 5:15, the place wasn't crowded. The server placed us at a corner table away from 'civilization'(but when we asked to move, she allowed the move to one table closer up). That was one partially good thing, but didn't make this place excellent. Selection of food was okay. if you like Italian foods with a little 'kick", this place has a good selection for you. Not only do they have the traditional cheese pizza, but for an extra 50 cents per topping per slice, you can get toppings added. On top of pizza, they also have some other Italian specialities such as hot subs, cold subs and even a few salads too. Unfortunately, there's no exact description of how the product would come written in the menu, so I couldn't judge how the items would come out, unless I asked the server. I have IBS, and certain rolls give me stomach problems. With a seeded roll (which is what I had gotten by default because I wasn't expecting this and had forgotten to ask) I would have changed the roll to something different). There's not much mention of the types of breads they used anywheres on their menu. It was an interesting touch I got with my sandwich tonight. I wasn't expecting an olive to come with every half of sandwich anyone in my 'party" had purchased, but there it was. The drawbacks today though, had their point in time too. The one sandwich smelled like it was becoming moldy(they tried to make up for it, but we resisted and ate them anyway-figuring another sandwich would take too long to make (since it took 45+ minutes to make and serve five easy sandwiches. Most of the waitresses I noticed today, looked like they were under working age of 14 or 15. Personally, it wasn't a problem for us; our waitress wasn't one of these, but this could have been for others and so I won't make too much of a big deal with this. I don't think our server knew how to make change. The meal came to $43 dollars. We handed the waitress $50 dollars and told her to give our waitress the change as a tip. Not only did she give US the change, but the change coming back was more than DOUBLE the price we were supposed to get so, someone's drawer would have obviously been off. When things change, I MIGHT return. Right now, I'll tend to reserve these instances when I head for pizza to only special occasions. read more

I'd really like to give them 2.5 stars. They've changed how they do their garlic knots and we don't like them as well as the old style. Service is particularly questionable, and it doesn't seem to matter when you go. We've done take out, and had orders be forgotten or take significantly longer than we were told on the phone, or be wrong. It has potential, but just doesn't quite get there. read more

My family and I have eaten here several times over the years, mostly for pizza and pasta. The last few times, and especially my experience last night, was not good. My opinion is CJ's has morphed into a bar and much less of a restaurant. It was pasta night and I was with my children. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs for the three of us. It took an hour and 5 minutes to get our food. Try sitting with small children that long waiting for rood- not good. We stuck to the simplest thing on the menu thinking it would help. The staff were fine, perhaps just overworked and disorganized. The pasta tasted typical, meatballs were malformed (flat meatballs!) and tasted they were reheated from frozen. The bar area of the restaurant was packed and I suppose that is now the focus. My family and I will be taking a break from CJ's. No thanks. read more

Ordered small pizza and extra crispy mild chicken wings. I received one drum stick in the wings and they were soggier than I have ever had. To top it off the wings were more hot than mild and the pizza was the size of a personal pan pizza. I usually don't post negative reviews but when your pregnant wife can't enjoy a simple meal it gets a little ridiculous. Last time I will be ordering from here. Always difficult with Italian restaurants. Are they pizza shops or really Italian restaurants. CJ's seems to be a bar, maybe pizza takeout place. As a restaurant I can't understand how anyone can give it more than 1 star. Very dumpy physically and that should have been a cue, but I have fond memories of great family Italian restaurants in the Hudson Valley that didn't look promising on entry. This place is NOT one of them. I had Chicken Parmigiana, not a complicated dish. It was obviously a frozen, microwave thawed and probably cooked, pre-fab chicken cutlet with melted mozzarella on top. Obviously not even cooked with the sauce. That sauce wasn't even an attempt at tomato sauce it had to be tomato puree right out of the can. Don't even consider this place other than for a shot and a beer. read more

Went to CJ's last night for a quick pizza before a movie. After 55 minutes the pizza still hadn't arrived. Went to the counter and asked what's up. They said it was coming right out. 5 minutes later it came out of the oven, too late to eat it there and still make the movie so I had them box it. Came in for an order pickup the blonde young girl was rude. Ordered a calzone and wings. Common sense would say cook the calzone first than the wings. I got home (7 min ride) wings were ICE COLD and cal zone was smoking hot. Just seems like CJs isnt what it used to be. read more

I've been eating here for years. The food just seems to get better and better. The wood beams and fireplace in the dining room give it a great atmosphere. If you like garlic and beef then The Beefeater is the sandwich for you. Pizza leans more to thin crust which is what I enjoy and the wings are meaty and served hot and juicy. Having the bar separate from the dining area keeps the noise at a minimum and allows you to also get a tasty cocktail or ice cold beer. read more

My food came to me okay of course the fried food was all soggy and I only I'm probably 5 minutes from CJ's at the hospital here I asked for salt and pepper and a bunch of ketchups they didn't send squat they never listen to the customers because that's has happened to me before I probably will discontinue ordering from CJ's as they don't listen to the person when places right down the road do so I am poor you to try somewhere else their customer service if you're going to order out is no good read more

Went to CJ's with my family and was very disappointed. We ended up waiting a little over an hour for our food, while waiting, we had all finished our drinks and had empty cups sitting in front of us for about 5-10 minutes. Until we finally had to ask one of the four employees to get us refills. When our food had finally arrived both my brother and I barely touched our dishes because of how awful the food was. I had gotten rigatoni with vodka sauce and chicken. The sauce was thin and had an awful aftertaste and the chicken was over cooked. My brother had the chicken Marsala which he had only ate one piece of and couldn't touch again. His girlfriend got a margarita pizza which came out burnt. My grandmother and aunt had gotten eggplant parm subs and the rolls were rock hard. My mother had ordered the French dip sandwich and never got the dip that's supposed to come with it. My sister had orders the fettuccine alfredo which was basically soup. Our waitress was very nice and did everything she could, she talked to the owner (who's also the chef) and brought back both mine and my brothers full plates to show him. She then came back and told us he said that it looked like nothing was wrong with them, but took off the pizza and two subs from our check (the least expensive meals), and expected us to pay $102 for the food we didn't eat. It wasn't until my brother went back and talked to the owner that we got our meal for free. read more

Heading home from up North I decided to place an order at CJ's. So I called to place an order and was put on hold for 10 minutes. After hanging up I called back and was told a half-hearted sorry. Still being hungry I placed the order anyway which they told me would be another 10 minutes. I was still about 10 minutes out, so that would be fine. After arriving I go into pick up my order. After waiting a few more minutes to be acknowledged I tell them my name and they told me it would be 10 minutes I said that's what they said when I called again they said sorry and I walked out never to go there again. read more

Terrible service. My fiancé and I ordered a calzone and a burger with 6 wings for an app. The order was placed at 6:40 and the wings didn't come out until almost 7:15 with our food coming out at 7:25. Being in the restaurant business for almost 8 years I know for a fact that a table should have an 8-10 minute wait time. It was obvious they were short staffed waitress-wise but the servers that WERE there weren't even moving fast to make up for the lack of waitresses. The only good thing was the wings. read more

I have been coming to CJ's for a long time and this was probably one of the worst experiences I have had. We haven't eaten there in over a year but we decided to go there for my husband's birthday. The dinning room was empty and we ordered right away however, our food still took a long time to arrive. It took over 30 minutes for us to get our salads. The positive thing was that they washed the lettuce, the negative was they didn't drain it. By the time our food arrived (pizza, calzone, and 1 dinner) the pizza was cold! The food wasn't good and I feel like a waste of money. We will not be back any time soon! read more

Would not recommend this place unless you have hours to kill on a meal. We ordered chicken masala and I ordered a thick and chewy crust personal pizza with chicken and mushrooms. We finally got a soup in about 30 minutes which wasn't the hottest. Our meals came an hour later. The pizza was not thick and chewy crust it was thin and burned. Did not wind up eating anything except for the toppings. The chicken marsala was a small portion with a large portion of a weird mixed veggies that were hard I'm sure that's because they were "steamed". A couple small pieces of toasted hard bread and a small portion of Angel hair pasta and sauce on the side. Our waitress was very kind and apologetic. She had 10% taken off the Bill. Wish I had gotten her name. She was the best thing about the whole evening. Everybody else that were working didn't seem to care. This was the 3rd time I was there. 4 of us went here for dinner on Veterans Day and there was only a few tables occupied. We waited a long time to place our order and even longer to get our food. We asked about 3 different servers, the status of our order and they were going to check and only one came back to us saying, the kitchen was behind and didn't know why or what was going on. When we received our dinners, half of our plates were cold and the waitress was flippant and told us that cold vegetables still taste good. They ended up comp-ing us 10% but it was our first time and most likely our last time coming here. read more

Wish I could give less than one star. I've been coming to CJs for years and for the most part have received decent service, however tonight was not one of those nights. There had been a time awhile back where my boyfriend and I had decided to go to CJs for dinner (our go-to restaurant because the wings are fantastic). We had been seated and our drinks had been ordered. About 15 minutes in a large group piled by the counter (and by large I mean literally a girls high school softball team (still in uniform)). The waitress had come to us and asked if we would be willing to switch tables, but didn't ask in that way... she walked up and in the middle of what seemed like her being polite she realized who we were and LITERALLY said "Oh, it's just you guys." and finished with "we have a big party coming in, you're going to have to move to another table. You can take your pick." We wouldn't have minded moving to different table as much if it wasn't for the way she asked. We understand we are regulars, but wouldn't you want to give your regulars the best service to keep them coming back...? These girls were loud, obnoxious, and distracting. Their table continued to get bigger because more and more girls were coming in with their parents causing our waitress to be less attentive and almost annoyed with my boyfriend and I. Melanie (our waitress) had stopped by our table about three times that night when we ordered, asked us to move, and when she gave us our check. We did not enjoy our time as much and wanted to leave quicker than usual. Tonight some coworkers and I had come to CJs because I had talked it up so much. Unfortunately when seated we were graced with Melanie and immediately thought about our last experience with her. I had actually contemplated requesting a another server, but didn't because I had thought she was probably overwhelmed last time and it'll be different this time around. I was wrong. Once again she stopped at our table about three times that night the first being her coming over without greeting is asking if we needed more time, second coming back and lastly bringing our food. The busboy (who was great and very accommodating) cleared a few tables and asked if we had gotten the check, when told no he seemed surprised and said he would go to our waitress. 15 minutes later, with still no check we have seen Melanie go to every other table take orders and bring food. She flew by our table without stopping to ask if we needed anything or for us to even ask for the check. The busboy (I believe his name is Zac) brought the check and apologized. We took the check up to the counter because we figured it would be easier for them to split the check there and we just didn't want to wait at the table any longer. We stood at the counter for a bit while Melanie was doing something and told us she'd be with us in a minute (at this point she had made us wait long enough what's another minute lmao). She asked another girl if she could cash us out but when we tried to tell her how we wanted to split the check Melanie said she'll do it (which would've been better since she took the order and didn't give us time in the beginning to tell her we wanted it separate, right? Wrong.). She asked someone to take care of a couple of her tables so she could go do something, walked away from the counter came out from the kitchen with food in her hands to bring to customers and retuned back behind the counter and grabbed her phone, said something to someone else back there and cursed. We were so appalled with her behavior from the whole night we told her not to bother splitting the check that we would do it ourselves, and told her multiple times not to put a tip. And her response (this is real) was "I already put one. Nice try." We asked to speak with a manager, but we were told she had already left. We asked for Melanie's name and a call will be made tomorrow. We came all the way from across the river to get CJs, but for what... a waitress who needs an attitude check and maybe be told not to wear shorts? I am disgusted and disappointed with my experience at CJs tonight. I will not be back, at least not for a while. Melanie will not be our waitress. So sad. read more

After sitting down here, THEN reading the reviews, i wanted to walk out. But, we decided to give it a try. The waitress was attentive and the food was not at all bad. We had wings, caesar salad and a margarita pizza. The wings were not horrible, breaded and a little salty. The salad was a salad, fresh bottled dressing. The pizza was the star, great crust, goood amount if garlic, fresh tomatoes and tasty sauce, could have used a little basil. I'd go again for the pizza. read more

My girlfriend and I were very disappointed with the margherita pizza. I hate to bad mouth any establishment, being a small business owner myself, but this place really needs to put more care into their food. The pizza sauce tasted like supermarket ragu sauce and the mozzarella did not taste fresh at all but something that was frozen and thawed out at some point. Woof. This place is awful. I went with 2 friends and we waited over an hour for a salad, hot sandwich, and pasta. The place was virtually empty too. Not only that, we had 3 waitresses who all got their signals crossed and disappeared frequently, which meant having to wait for drink refills and condiments. The beer on tap was soapy tasting and flat. The food was ok, but I wouldn't come to this place if you value good service or a timely meal. This place is an all night affair. read more

My coworkers recommended this place several times so eventually I decided to go and asked them to come with. The food was good (wings were awesome! If you go get the Stupid Hot ones!) but our service was exceedingly poor. Our waitress named Melanie was rude and inattentive. She never came back to our table and when we were done eating we waited thirty minutes for our check while we could see her helping other tables. My coworkers apologized for the poor experience and I openly agreed with them; it felt like there was no one helping us other than Zac the busboy who did his best but was swamped. Melanie wound up adding a 20% gratuity to my bill when I had a party of 5 and their website said it's for any party of 8 or more. I requested to have it removed but she would not budge and told me it was because it was Friday. That is insane. They need to get some new help so people can enjoy their food without it leaving such a bad taste in their mouths. read more

The food is very tasty and reasonably priced, and the service is great. The only thing I didn't like was the choice of piped in music. I've been there for lunch and dinner and they play fast paced pop- the kind that you might use on a treadmill or exercise workout. In my opinion, it detracts from a relaxing dining experience. If you're between 15 and 25,you will feel right at home. Everything else was great, though. read more
