If you want to taste exceptional Italian wine, this is the place. I was fortunate enough to be invited to a private party here and had the opportunity to experience some truly outstanding Italian selections. The cheeses and prosciutto were just as impressive, beautifully curated and absolutely delicious. Everything served is sourced from their salumeria next door, of the same name, which makes the experience feel authentic and thoughtfully connected. I'm already looking forward to coming back to explore more of the menu. read more

C Di Palo - Velvety wine - Wine Bars Near Me - New York, New York

My friend and I stopped into C Di Paulo after dinner. It's tucked away in Little Italy and has a very unassuming vibe, though it definitely gets busy. We kicked things off with a charcuterie board--$30 for five selections of meats and cheeses. We went with mortadella (my absolute favorite), hot soppressata, prosciutto, speck, and one cheese. Everything was solid and well put together. The service was on the slower side since there was only one server, but he was incredibly friendly and gave us some great recommendations. I started with a glass of prosecco, and we eventually split a bottle of wine. Overall, C Di Paulo is a charming spot for a nightcap. Just keep in mind they close on the earlier side at 11 PM. read more

Stopped in to this "wine bar" because it was right around the corner from our hotel. It's very cute inside but overall was extremely disappointing. The service was abysmal. No one greeted us when we came in and, despite the sign stating to wait to be seated, no one came up to us for a long time but it wasn't busy. Not only until a larger group came in who clearly knew the people did we get acknowledged. Those people still got served first. We ordered a single glass of wine and no one ever came back to see if we liked it or wanted a second glass. At one point it appeared that all employees had disappeared from the restaurant for quite some time. We had to hunt someone down to pay. They say they are a wine bar but only have about 7-10 wines on the menu. Our glasses of wine were fine but nothing special. We did not eat but the food menu was also very limited. read more

The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing. The historic redwood-lined walls create an intimate atmosphere. The wine selection is thoughtfully curated, featuring a deep bench of Italian varietals. The staff clearly know their bottles, offering pairings that elevate each dish. The staff is literally family. Fathers/mothers, uncles/aunts, sons/nephews and daughters/nieces are who works the wine bar. They deeply care about their customers and treat them like family. Whether you're settling in for a romantic date, catching up with friends, or enjoying a solo glass at the bar, this spot delivers an experience that feels both timeless and deeply satisfying. It's the kind of place you leave already planning your return. read more

Love this spot!! I can't comment much on the wine bc I'm not well versed but I think the prices are super reasonable, charcuterie very delicious, and it's usually not crowded so you can hear people talk. The honey ricotta toast is SO delicious and only $9 I think for 4 pretty large pieces to share. read more

A family run business for generations and 10 decades. It started out very slowly, but the best prosciutto I've ever had in my life great wines by the glass and incredibly reasonable they have a supermarket next-door that has been around also for 100 years.. The prosciutto was so good. We ordered it again with some more cheese, and the Burrata was delicious with the roasted peppers. Also, the eggplant Cristini was delicious. Very limited menu so don't expect to have a major dinner there. Sam, the son, Luigi and Sal the brothers really know their food will definitely come back. read more

Came here thinking it's a restaurant. But it's mainly a wine bar. But surprisingly the food they did have here was very good. The paninis are done well. The caprese is one of the best ones around here. Fresh tomatoes and mozzarella with little oil and balsamic with a hint of pesto makes a very well combination with the flavors. The burrata was very good. With their pickled peppers giving it a kick. Their side break was crispy edges and soft inside and the olive oil they use if good. The fresh ricotta with honey was not bad. A little bit too sweet for me. But it was still good. Good place to drop by for a light bite. Highly recommend the paninis and the salads. Haven't tried their drink menu yet. read more

A friend recommended this spot because we were in Little Italy but wanted to get away from the tourist traps. We started with the fresh mozzarella with tomatoes (Caprese) and then ordered the choose 5 items platter (3 cheeses (Alta Badia, Stelvio, Testun) and 2 meats (prosciutto and Salami)). We also had a Lugana and a Fattoria white wine. They really have a lovely wine selection. Beautifully presented and even more delicious to taste. We described what we liked and the owner (?) made suggestions. This is the only place I need to come to in Little Italy! read more

Inviting, Warm, dim, romantic lighting at this little Italy wine bar. The doors opened promptly at 6:30, they do not take reservations. We were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar. The service was a little slow but I am not complaining. It gave us time to take it all in and look over the menu. The red wine suggested by the bartender was spot on for how I described my taste buds would like so if you are not sure which Italian wine to order just ask for a recommendation. The balsamic old fashioned was a nice twist on a regular old fashioned. The food is more appetizers/shareables but the paninis would be filling if you went with that for a main meal. We shared the house made mozzarella with tomato and pesto(the pesto and olive oil were so good, we also had the eggplant caponata and a hard cheese that came with breadsticks and honey. I recommend trying a few things, you can see your food being prepared and the Italian meats are sliced to order. We look forward to going back again soon. read more

I cannot even find the right words to express how much I love this place and how much I appreciate the family running it. First of all, the interior is clean and beautiful! The staffs are welcoming. The ambiance is classy and the dim light makes it romantic but it's also a great place to hang out with your friends or families. I came here with my sister twice and by myself once. Was never bothered and never felt like I was rushed to leave. C Di Palo is an excellent spot for groups or a 1 on 1 hangout. Their food and wine are imported from Italy. Even the honey they serve to drizzle over your cheese is imported from Italy. I get to have a taste of authentic Italian wine & food without having to fly oversea. That alone should make the prices sky high. But it isn't. The prices are actually better than your local American cheese bar, which blows my mind. The Burratina is out of this world. I highly recommend it. The fresh handmade mozzarella served with tomato and basil is also spectacular. Get it. I've had the formaggio e salumi, which is a selection of cheese and ham, several times and still dream about it. I've tried charcuterie boards at other cheese bars, it doesn't even compare. If you want hot food, they have a variety of paninis. I had the Tirol which consisted of speck (smoked prosciutto), arugula, and melted cow cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. They even have hot tea here! For dessert, they have black Cherry with sweet ricotta. I genuinely love a sweet cheese as a dessert! I find it very creative. My favorite wine is Montefalco Sagrantino Passito 2009, Tabarrini, which you can get it here, you probably just need to pre-order it. The family who runs this business is amazing and I'm so grateful for their hard work (even though they don't feel like it's work because they love what they do). They are passionate and they put their heart into what they do. They treat their customers like guests. They don't make you feel like you need to either keep ordering or leave so the next customer could have your table. They're also very giving and generous. I usually don't write about complimentary food because I don't want every customer to expect it but I've seen them give complimentary food to almost every customer. Dear Di Palo family - Thank you for bringing authentic Italian wine and food to New York, serving us, and educating us! I couldn't be more thankful. P.S. Their candles are real, not electric! read more

The wine bar could be amazing but there's Sam. Sam is the owners son and the biggest AZZHOLE you could ever imagine. He has no personality, zero people skills, and doesn't have what it takes to work in the hospitality/food service business. Everyone who knows Sam knows what I am talking about. We've been there and other regulars say the same. When we / they see him it's "Ughh Sam is here". He's a black cloud. He's miserable. Looks it and acts it. He's always arguing and fighting with staff, arguing on the phone and just being a jerk in all ways at all times. He needs to be in an office somewhere placing orders and nowhere near the front on the house interacting with the public. He is the epitome of the spoiled kid living off the family success. He acts like what the hell he is doing. He's serving wine and passing out meat and cheese boards. And he can't even handle that. I love the DiPalo family and have been going to their store for nearly 35 years. It's one of the best, if not the best, Italian store in NYC. But this kid is destroying the wine bar. Get rid of him. Please!!! Your business would be a gold mine without him there. read more

We have been coming here since they first opened. An extension of DiPalo's Fine Foods next door, the enoteca has a wide selection of cheeses and salumi for an aperitivo board, as well as crostini with ricotta and honey or caponata and a variety of interesting paninis. The wine list is full of interesting Italian wines you don't see very often, like Valtellina and Ceanese, as well as the standards. All are reasonably priced. They do have a full bar if you are not into wine. Everyone working there is a member of the DiPalo family and they treat you like you are having dinner in their home. read more

C Di Palo is a hidden gem, that's family owned and operated. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the environment makes you feel welcomed. We already had dinner, but we wanted to explore a few things on the menu. We ordered a few different things: green olives, fresh ricotta with honey, fresh mozzarella and prosciutto wrapped together (not on the menu) and burratina. The burratina was exceptional! It was really the best tasting dish I've had in a while. It was served with fresh burrata, freshly marinated red peppers, fresh tomatoes, fresh arugula, freshly sliced prosciutto and a few drizzles of balsamic glaze. We had a wonderful time at C Di Palo. read more

To say I felt welcomed would be an understatement. I'll start with the food/wine. I had a wonderful white wine (Lugana) and the mozzarella with tomato. The mozzarella was perfection! I also got a chance to try some other cheeses and the whipped ricotta dessert. Get the dessert, so delicious! The atmosphere was warm, comfortable, and relaxing. The lighting and music were just right. Sammy was a pleasure to talk to. He provided info on the wine, wine I've never had before and didn't know anything about. We chatted about making cheese (which I am going to finally try making fresh mozzarella now), travel, and Sicily. Sal was also very kind, as well as the server who's name I didn't get. Such a great experience, can't wait to stop back in when I return to NYC. read more

I finally ate here during the San Ginero festival and I wish I could give this place 10 Gold Stars! Firstly, this establishment has so much character to it, it really makes you smile during your New York dining experience. This small and quaint place has exuberance of great energy, vibes, and fine food. The wine and cheeses are absolutely to die for. The truffle cheese melts in your mouth and I highly recommend. The wine is some of the finest wines in the city that will satisfy anyone with a fine pallet. Most importantly it is family owned, and they are so friendly doing such a great job! Really gives you faith and smile when it comes to New York dinning. Highly recommend! read more

C Di Palo Wine Bar is an absolute home run. Their selection of imported wines, cheese, and meats is incredible. Like their 100+ year old family run business next door, at C Di Palo attention is in the the details. First, the place is beautiful and incredibly clean. The decor and vibe are on point. And everything you drink or eat is perfect. Wines were served at proper temperatures, meats sliced perfectly. I had some of the greatest bites and pairs I've ever had during my visit. And you have to try their homemade ricotta with imported Italian honey, probably one of the greatest things I've ever tasted in my life. The DiPalo family that runs this wine bar, the food store next door, and the wine shop next to that, make you feel like family and have a true passion for what they are doing. This place is not to be missed and is not only a gem in Little Italy but probably the greatest wine bar I've ever been to. Highly Recommend!!! read more

Phenomenal. Amazing wine, food, and service. At first my husband and I weren't sure which wine to get but Renee was amazing and super helpful. By far the best customer service we had our on trip. And the food was to die for, we ordered the honey ricotta toast and burrata and found out everything was freshly made at their store next door. We loved it so much we went back a few days later and purchased some cheese and olive oil from their store to take back with us and once again we were blown away by their kindness, attentiveness, and helpfulness. 10/10 Highly Recommend read more

Went there for after-work drinks with a few of my coworkers last evening and thoroughly enjoyed it!! They're by the same family who operate the legendary Di Palo's grocery next door. I'm surprised nobody nasn't reviewed them yet- even though it's just been 2 weeks they opened, the quality is GOOD! No cons whatsoever, so I'll just give the standout among the Pros. - The wine. It was a 2015 Nebbiolo. I'm forgetting the name, but it was so yummy that we got another bottle. - The ingredients. From the housemade fresh ricotta and mozzarella, to the aged balsamic, to the cheeses and meat, everything was spectacular, yet simple. - The price. Can't beat them in price- period. We had 2 bottles of GOOD wine, 5 meats, 5 cheeses, one caprese, double orders of ricotta crostini, three espressos and one tea- all for just $55 a head in total. In Manhattan that's unimaginable. Final verdict: if you care about wine even just a little bit, GO THERE!! Added advantage is of course Di Palo's is next door, so while coming back you can pick up more good noshes. read more

I've been here 3 times and cannot recommend it enough. The paninis are the best I've had anywhere and the wine selection is fantastic!

My experience at Di Paulo's was amazing. I came in for a quick glass of wine before heading home, and unbeknownst to me it was during the feast of San Gennaro. Rene was an attentive and professional server even while the restaurant was busy during the festival, and the chef provided me a small, complimentary selection of gourmet cheeses and olives while I drank my wine. Fantastic place for good, different and priced right wines from regions of Italy that should be explored. Up and coming grapes and names that one should try.
