One of my fave go to places for authentic Chinese food (though I admit I'm pretty white washed so usually go with the parents so they can order haha). It's a nice little place, with plenty of big tables to accommodate larger parties. Nothing fancy, the usual decor of a TV playing some Chinese shows and a fish tank. It's clean and basic, but it's the food you will come here for. Service is good and attentive, even with lots of big tables and 2 servers working. As well, it didn't take long for the food to come out. Prices seem reasonable as most places like this, but according to my parents this place has better prices. Our dinner with 4 dishes and rices came to about $65, where they mentioned at some places it would be $75 or more. Portion sizes are also good, even had leftovers to take home. There are many places to go in Edmonton for authentic Chinese food, but sometimes tough to find one with both good services and good food. This is one of the places I feel I can always depend on for both.

Some of the main dishes that night.

The ambiance and atmosphere are very warm and inviting and I can say the same about the service. Our server was helpful, friendly and informative. I ordered the beef souvlaki lunch plate which came with rice and salad as well as a choice of garlic sauce, tzatziki, or tahini. We were also offered some homemade hot sauce as well. The food tasted really good and my colleagues enjoyed theirs as well. I'd like to visit again to try more of their menu. They have plenty of dishes that would be good for sharing as well.

It is really cute inside full of trinkets from Egypt that make you feel like you are in a baazar. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Really loved the customer service. We decided on a few dishes to try. We decided on the Chef's Platter that serves 2-3 although unless you have an appetite of a lumberjack, it will feed more. It comes with - Salad, Hawawshi (flatbread filled with meat), kushari (Egypt's national dish consisting of lentils and macaroni), baba Ganooj, Musakka as well as a bunch of skewers. Chicken, beef, kabab skewers, lamb shank and rice. We also ordered Egyptian tea which was delightful. Food took a while to come out. However it was all good except the lamb shank was on the dry side which was disappointing. I really enjoyed the salad and the baba ganooj. My husband enjoyed the meat dishes. However we both loved the Hawawshi. Give it a try!

We had the duck with risotto, truffle fries, pan seared salmon, and the homemade mac & cheese with chicken breast. All were excellent. Our server recommended a couples drink combo which consisted of the following: For him - Maple Old Fashioned: Bearface Triple Oak Canadian whisky, maple syrup, and Angostura bitters. For her - A savory-sweet mix of Ojo de Tigre Mezcal, passion fruit liqueur, blood orange syrup, lime juice, and a black salt rim. It was awesome. The hotel had an amazing gym facility and pool. I easily spent two hours in the gym as there was a variety of activities. Also, the decor was absolutely divine. Gorgeous lighting, and panelling throughout with a big open kitchen where you can see the magic happen. We would definitely stay the night again!

And the service just seemed disorganized with how long the dishes took, how everyone didn't get served the correct dishes, and the servers were fumbling to rearrange themselves.

We got seated at our table and then we waited...and waited...and waited... So the manager came by and asked us if we need anything and I replied, "Yeah a server." Apparently there was a mix up with communication and whose table was whose. It is gorgeous inside. Very sexy. Plush benches, silver tones, and blue lights. This would be a great place to be seen after a hockey game or something. Finally with our fixed menu in hand and some water. The manager asked us if we would like the wine paring for no extra charge. What a fabulous gift! We started out with the black truffle and brie aranchini. This is super rich and flavourful. Great texture on the outside and creamy goodness on the inside. My husband and I got one of each of the salads - Wedge and Ceasar. The portions were massive, so I am glad I got the wedge. I could pack it up and it was fresh and crisp the next day. Dressings on both of them were excellent I got the black sesame ahi tuna and my husband got the petite filet. Both were excellent but if I wanted to finish dessert I would have to get this packed for home. Finaly onto dessert my husband got the chocolate peanut butter bar, while I went with the strawberry pavlova. Both were fine, but the peanut butter bar was super rich. The wine pairings were excellent. Great place, even better when you have a super deal.

It was a bit too much for me, but we can't all like the same things. I think the staff might have recommended we not order two mashed potatoes, but otherwise service was sufficient and relatively attentive. Attention was given to my gf dietary needs, but no attempt at a gluten free bread was made, as has been done a similar high end establishments. Our waitress nearly gave our meal to another table, but fortunately was intercepted by another server. We arrived at 5:30 and got our meals at about 7:00. The ambiance was reminiscent of a high end pizza place- large marble topped tables to shout across. My lamb was a bit under done, but that was okay since I had allowed for that. I've had better lamb in my own home, but I admit I'm not a fan of char as the main flavour. It was very attractively plated and I liked most of the vegetables that shared the plate, excepting perhaps, one or two pieces of bitter greens. My two companions enjoyed their meals, both having ordered filet. The three of us wound up spending about $300.00, tip included.
