Renato did an amazing job altering a Halloween costume for me and somehow managed to make it look less frumpy and much more flattering. I was so happy with his work that I came back again to have my white coat tailored for my first Family Nurse Practitioner clinicals. Not only is his work high quality, but he is also incredibly kind and personable. Both times I brought my 8yo with me, Renato was so sweet to him, cracking jokes and making him feel included. I really appreciated how attentive and welcoming he was to both of us. His prices are also very reasonable for the level of craftsmanship and care he provides. It's rare to find someone who combines skill, professionalism, kindness, and value all in one place. Highly recommend! read more

Renato's work quality has consistently been outstanding. For the past eight years, he has been our trusted go-to tailor for my husband's suits. Thanks again Renato! You're the best! read more

Great service! Very sweet people. The alterations were lovely. Just in time for the event.

Had to get alterations done to two things: long dress and a jumpsuit. Both satin material. I dropped it off Friday and needed it back by Wed for a destination wedding. Even though the altering for the dress was tricky because of how it's made, dude came through! He thought outside the box to help figure out how to alter it which is much appreciated. With the quick turnaround time and the amount of work he had to do, it cost me $57 dollars, cash only. Definitely can't beat that! I will always go to C & R for any alterations and will definitely recommend this biz to anyone. read more

Excellent service. I took in several things to be altered and some of them were difficult given the design (shorten the sleeves on jackets). The quality of the alterations was excellent. Richard takes the time with you to explain what he will do. And, he had an ample sized dressing room. This is a professional alteration center and not just an add on service a dry cleaner. read more

Renato is fast and efficient. He does quality work at a great price, and he listens to his customers wants and needs. He has tailored my suits pants and shirts and he's a very nice guy to chat with. He has a good understanding of what a tailored suit is supposed to look like, and he always has great input to share, for those that aren't well versed in clothing alterations. He takes great pride in his work and he seems to get the alterations done quicker than the expected date of completion, which is a big plus for me!The shop is next to Walgreens and it's easy to get in and out. Remember to bring cash and make sure you are using the correct parking lot. Prices are reasonably reasonable Completing alteration in a timely manner is great And his input is greatly useful I highly recommend his work! read more

I needed my bridesmaid dress hemmed in 4 days and they got it done for me! The gentlemen who owns this place are kind and professional. The price for the hem was about average price. I bought a suit on sale for a wedding for less than $80 the website had a sizing tool to help you figure the right size for you. I chose my suggested size & when I received the suit the blazer was too long & the pants that were suppose to be skinny were more of a regular fit. I found Renato on yelp through this page, I live 5mins away so it was perfect. I came in waited no more than 5 mins & we got to measuring & pinning my suit. Renato gave me the ticket for my suit & took my number. A few weeks later I received a text to come in for a second fitting. Everything was perfect. He did make the suggestion not to make the pants too skinny or it'll hook on to my calf. I took his suggestion. A few days later I picked up my suit. All I can say is that I was the best looking guest at the wedding! He made my $80 suit look expensive! read more

Excellent, quality tailor. A rare gem in El Sobrante. Both myself and my husband go to him.

"Wait a minute, Rinitze? Don't they have somme really cool suits in there?" - George Costanza, Seinfeld Da Scene: Bought a new suit @ Jos A Bank and if I had a normal build, would've been fine - their tailor was backed up weeks for what I needed. Took it to my dry cleaner for a little nip & tuck - pants were baggy and hanging on me, plus long. Needed to be taken in, tapered, and hemmed. Came back and by the pockets, were poking out comically. Da Service: ENTER C&R - Yelped for help and found Renalto, cool cat, laid back and calmly said "no problem, come back Friday, leave the jacket". Da Result: the clown pants are GONE, looking slim & trim, ready for the destination wedding... well, as slim as a 46 Short can look any way! I think I've found my "suit guy", The test will be the next one... gonna see if he can make a suit a full size bigger fit me and look good... will update the post then. read more

I brought in 9 slacks to get altered to a more modern fit. All 9 had different problems to start with. Renato was able to custom tailor each one. Once I tried on the first pair after getting altered, I could already tell the rest were going to be amazing. I will continue to support this business. read more

This is a hidden gem, literately. It doesn't have a huge sign and it is behind the nail salon. The gentleman that works here is super respectful and knows his craft. I took a dress that needed more than a hem and he did everything I asked. I am content. read more

I needed a last minute alteration made to a dress I bought online and I needed it quick! I called ahead to make sure it was a possibility for the alterations to be done and Renato said it sounded simple enough that he could get it done in my very small time window. Thursday morning I came into the shop and he had me try on the dress and from there he pinned to the length I wanted and also brought in the dress to give it more of a shape. Friday afternoon I picked up the dress on the way to work so I didn't have time to try it on, but when I did try it on it was PERFECT, exactly what I had originally envisioned the dress to look and fit me like. Everyone loved my dress and it I'm so glad I came across Renato on yelp! Great customer service, and great work! This is a place I will be back to for further alterations and know it will be done correctly. Only regret is I didn't take before and after pics of the dress, to show the great work he did. read more

OMG! Are you ever that person that has a sudden need for a tailor and you've never had one ever? So you're sitting on your bed frantically searching for a good tailor overwhelmed by these reviews and who to choose? That was me! I was actually going to go somewhere else but he called me back and there was something about this place I had a gut feeling it would be good. He did not disappoint. Not at all. Two of my aunts are tailors and have done everything for me tailoring wise my whole life. But I wanted to be able to have my own tailor and not bother my relatives so much. I asked if I can have a dress done by Friday? He said to bring it in so he can take a look for me I took it in right away he took a look as I explained what was going on and I needed a dress taken in the waist and he marked it up. Everything was very quick very professional. He also helped hem my boyfriends slacks and take in the waist on his dress pants. He said he will have it done Friday. I asked for Thursday and then settled for Friday. He texted me Thursday morning with a surprise saying my clothes were ready! Woo! Then when I came home to see them after my boyfriend picked them up. I was in sheer joy. He was a really nice tailor. Under promise over deliver type of guy. Will be using him from here forward. :) read more

If I had a dime for each time I've attempted to run unnecessary errands in my life, I'd probably be a millionaire. Case in point: I show up on a dreary and drizzly day to C & R Alteration for last-minute hemming (about a week and a half before the wedding) on a bridesmaid's dress (word on the street is that Renalto can work magic and turn things around in one day). Being my usual scatterbrained self, I forget to bring the shoes I plan on wearing with the dress. Renalto laughs it off and assures me he can still get the job done in time if I return the following week. Fast forward four days later: I am now armed with a pair of heels and determined to get this gown hemmed. Renalto remembers me and shows me to the dressing room. I put on the dress and heels, only to discover that the dress is already seemingly the perfect length. I double check with Renalto lest I'm crazy, and he let's my foolish self leave without any annoyance or mockery in his response. Instead, he's genuinely happy that I'm saving money (seriously the nicest tailor ever). I'll definitely be back in the future (and this time, hopefully not with another false alarm). read more

C & R Alteration is one of the best alteration establishments I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I came in wanted to get a pair of pants taken in and altered. Renalto was amazing and fast and my pants came out even better than before and I'm thankful. I will be giving him my business forever! read more

Just used C & R for the first time, chose them based on good Yelp reviews. They did an awesome job!!!! I'm so pleased!!! I wear a frumpy dress for my work uniform (flight attendant) & I rarely get uniforms altered out of laziness, but I was tired of trying to work comfortably in ill-fitting clothes and decided to bite the bullet and get them tailored. I've had uniform alterations in the past that were ok but basic, but C & R totally reworked my collar/shoulders to fit like a glove and you can't even tell it's been altered- the workmanship is stellar! Each dress fits exactly the same (4 dresses) and not a single issue. Now I'm scanning my closet for what else I can have tailored for a better fit. Thanks C & R! read more

Brought in 3 suits some years ago to get them altered and Renato did a great job. I recently bought a few pants and coats to have them altered and Renato took care of me again. I asked for the pants to be cropped and tapered. Renato is an expert tailor and it shows. He's quick to take measurements but you can tell he knows what's he's doing. The turn around time to get things done is also very reasonable, and in emergency situations when you need something done quickly, he's been very flexible, but I recommend that you call in advance first to see if it can be done. For example, my wife needed her dress shortened for an event the next day and Renato took care of it as promised. I also recently split a pair of pants he altered and he took care of it for no charge. He stands by his work and takes the time to make sure you're happy with the alterations. His prices are reasonable and while there might be other places that charge a little less, I'd still take my clothes to Renato to alter because of his professionalism and quality work product. I highly recommend C&R Tailors. read more

Renato did a great job hemming my curtains. I'll be back for sure. Just need to remember to bring cash (no CC or checks).

this review is for the alteration: This place for alterations is a hidden gem. I was quit skeptical at first because of no reviews about it. I took the chance and got my pants done up. The gentlemen there put me up on game. I didn't know the correct way to wear my suit pants so he gave me a breakdown. Let's just say I'm glad I took the chance. He asked me when I needed them done and I replied by tomorrow if possible and he replied back to me with "you can come by later on today at pick them up" EVEN BETTER! if you got stuff that needs alterations or hemmed come to this place. It is sort of a misleading place because they do nails there as well. Don't have to take my word for it, but they do a great job. I just found my self a new place to get alterations done. read more
