Interesting how this place is all four and five star reviews the last year or so with a bunch of 1-star reviews from four or five years ago. One of the things I hate about Yelps review system is that they keep old reviews from 5 years ago and don't don't filter them or give them less weight than the recent ones. I've eaten at C&G Grill five or six times and it's been excellent every time, every dish I've ordered has been good from the seafood to the salads everything. Get it together Yelp because anyone looking at the reviews would think this place sucks until they dive in and see that all the bed reviews are 4 and 5 years old.... it's obvious to anyone this place has improved dramatically over what it was several years ago. read more

UDATED 8/21/25 Refund was given two weeks later by restaurant manager after two emails to the customer support . Absolutely horrible! We ate dinner here in May and really enjoyed our dinner and the service. Gumbo was probably the best we ever had at a restaurant & And my stuff flounder & husbands hamburger was great. Well, unfortunately, the second time around, not so much. We waited almost 45 minutes for our meal. I ordered the stuffed Flounder again and my husband ordered a shrimp Poboy.. When the food came out, I automatically noticed it did not look the same. The gumbo was A bowl of rice and thick floured broth. It was more like an étouffée with no meat at all. When the fish came out, it smelled disgusting and was very noticeable. The skin was hard as a rock, and when I peeled the skin back, the fish was mush. The presentation was nothing like I had before either. The people that were sitting next to us literally smelled the fish from their table. How in the world the cooks did not notice the bad fish, nor did the server. If I was the server, I would have never served that meal. I asked to see the manager, I believe her name was Sammy. She apologized and asked if I wanted anything else. I assumed she was going to comp the meal due to bad food and waiting for 45 minutes for that rancid food, and the gumbo being not gumbo at all! So I did order something else, something I did not really want, but the only thing that halfway appeal to me and that was the shrimp Poboy. By the time my food came out, my husband was already finished his dinner. The bill arrived, while I was in the middle of my meal, and we were still charged for both meals for the inconvenience. We planned our trip to the casino to eat dinner here for the stuffed fish and the shrimp Poboy. And if I knew the manager was not going take the meal off altogether, I would've never ordered another meal since my husband was already finished his. When the server came out with the check, I asked to see the manager again and he said OK. He came back and said I'm sorry, but the manager is dealing with two employees and she can't come out to the table. Darrell also stated that it is your restaurant policy to not give away food if someone ate it. What?? Absolutely unprofessional. Under the circumstances, that were not my fault, He should've been handled totally differently. This is nothing a customer should have to deal with and to tell a server that the manager could not come to the table is insane to me. I asked if there were someone higher up to speak to, and he said she was gone for the day. Your restaurant obviously has issues with spoiled food & crap service. Your customer should always be first not your employees. That should've been put on hold for a few minutes while you tended to a customer. Your management team made it quite clear that a customer was not important. They made it loud and clear they did not want repeat service. We will not be coming back and we will let others know. The food was really tasty. They cooked my boyfriends steak perfectly. The catfish was tender, not greasy, and it was flavorful. (It was one of the fishier catfishes I've had-- still super good.) The asparagus was GREAT. Tasted very lemon-y and herby. The baby bakers were also very tender and cooked well. Thanks Joe for phenomenal service. My boyfriend can't have spicy stuff and he asked if the gumbo was spicy, Joe said no-- and the gumbo was perfect. Previously had servers be dishonest about the spice level of food, so this was greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone who made tonight a great experience. Definitely recommend the food...and Joe for service! Also went again and had Justina. She was great. The food was great. The steak was tender and juicy, cooked perfectly. The potatoes were great. Julie came in the other day and raves about the burgers so we had to come! Our waitress Nichole was awesome super friendly, chatted with us a lot of fun! It took a long time for the burgers but worth the wait, char broiled goodness!! I had fries and Julie had the house made chips. It was busy and that's why it took so long. I purchased the seafood platter to go. The seafoods were fried shrimp, a catfish fillet, 2 stuffed shrimp and crawfish obviously substituted for clam strips; served on a bed of withered up brown Chinese Cabbage and a half filled cup of gumbo. There was a side of tasteless asparagus also included that I was not aware of; otherwise, I would have requested a substitution if given the choice. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the awful looking bed of brown withered vegetables underneath the seafood. I was further disappointed to discover such a small dab of a half full cup of gumbo. It's highly recommended to carefully check your order before leaving the premises to avoid total disappointment. In the past, I've dined in and had far better experiences. I came to the C&G Grill because I was at the casino which was probably the first mistake I made. We were seated pretty quickly, which was good in a way but also another bad sign, an empty restaurant, on Fat Tuesday. We sat at our table and the first thing I noticed with the menu, which looked to be a nice one at one time. was basically torn in half. I look past the unkept appearance of the menu and there's not much to it. Simple is sometimes good but this one was just off for some reason. I asked what the soup of the day was and the waiter responded "corn stew" (corn chowder). Not feeling very confident in most of the menu I decided to play it safe and go with breakfast since it's served all day. I ordered a breakfast bowl that consisted of hash browns topped with eggs, sausage, bacon, and cheese. My order came out after about 20 minutes and I know right away it's not going to be good. It was too greasy, the bacon and sausage was basically burnt, the egg dry and the cheese burnt. There wasn't anything right about this bowl. On a side note the breakfast bowl was $13! Maybe at a high end restaurant and maybe if it was executed well but not here. The silverware was spotted and dirty, the cloth napkins were stained, the food was bad. I'd suggest someone reevaluate the situation at this place or shut it down. Gross! read more

Lunch today at this grille. Our waiter George was very attentive. We started with a shrimp appetizer that was served in a large fried wonton and cabbage. It was absolutely delicious. My friend and I shared the bone in buffalo wings and they were good. Our husbands had the red snapper topped with crawfish and mushrooms and the shrimp Alfredo pasta. 1.0 stars. All I can say here is "JUST DON'T!!" Keep moving, do not even think about eating here unless you want to be very disappointed. The service sucked with very extended waits just to be greeted and to have our drink orders taken. The time seemed to go on forever before our food arrived. Our appetizer, the calamari took 45 minutes to reach the table, and our burgers, another 35 minutes after we had finished the calamari. And get this, they were not busy and when the food finally arrives, it was cold as ice and extremely tasteless. One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The resort itself is trying to set itself a part from the rest here as a classy and upscale alternative. There is an Emeril's Gulf Coast Fish House Restaurant inside this resort and with such an offering as this, one would have thought the C & G Grille would have been up to the standard and quality that this resort is trying to set but hell no. read more

This evening I went to dinner with friends and they suggested we try the C & G Grill. For appetizers we ordered the fire cracker shrimp (* star) and the spinach dip (** stars) The FC shrimp tasted like a battered vanilla/coconut cake smothered shrimp. While the texture was nice the taste was just not appealing nor familiar. The spinach dip was just that, a dip. For my entree I had the Ribeye (** stars) which was unevenly cooked and had no flavor or smell of being grilled. The best part of this meal was the over stuffed baked potato (*** stars) which came with the steak. I have been here many times over the years and find it hit and miss. The service is always just slow to adequate though the staff is always pleasant. The salad bar is fresh with premium selections though a bit limited for a big casino restaurant. The soups (two offered) were potatoe and gumbo. Gumbo is good for a buffet. A bit thick but it has a deep seafood flavor and is loaded with shrimp. It probably is made from a purchased base and jacked up with a seafood stock. Nice bite. We had the month long spaghetti special for lunch. Large portion with 3 big tender meatballs. Spaghetti was served European style with sauce coating and absorbed into the pasta. It was not that good though. Seamed like powdered garlic and onion seasoning only..not fresh. Will pass next time on italian here. Tried a fried shrimp which was perfectly cooked. The seafood dishes at my table were all complimented on. Get the buffet. It's better unless u want a more settled atmosphere. read more

Most awesome server ever in all my years of dining here. Tierney was efficient and super friendly. She made dining fun. The menu has been reduced due to covid, so all of my favorites are gone now. We almost left the casino to dine because of that fact. But, loving Island View Casino made us stay. By the end of our meal, we were extremely happy we stayed. My hubby and l are on date night and attended a concert at another casino (lsleys we're in town) and my husband knows how much l love the island view came here not to just gamble like we always do (we were going to do that later after dinner) and decided to eat at the grill and had a horrific experience from a very rude server. We came in with cash not a free ticket for food. Also anyone who has served us in the past there will tell you we tip well. A decant restraunt for dinner and cafe for late night dineing for dinner they offer up a higher end menue for dinner a bit more money than you would think or you can get the soup and salad bar for about $12 and it is pretty good ,the late night it turns into a cafe again with a menue full of breakfast and sandwiches and a brunch type buffet that I thought was quite good ,if your staying at the Island View in Gulfport Ms you have many choices and this is not a bad one at all read more

My grandmother has perpetual comps to the island view casino and when IM broke i eat here. Their menu is OK, they used to have the best spinach and artichoke dip but they took it off the menu. I get their shrimp scampi, the Philly steak sandwich or the chicken sandwich. I had a steak one time from there that was out of this world! I love the buns that their chicken sandwich is on and they have a nice selection of desserts. They have a little buffet that doesn't look very good but I've never had it. The staff here is HORRIBLE! Was looking for something carry out to take back to the room. There were 2 people standing at hostess stand looking at me like I was an idiot, so I asked about Togo orders and one says yes back there and points behind her. I walk in and saw a salad buffet and another women, I am assuming a manager, yells "excuse me miss, do you need something" uhhh yeah I do! So o tell her I would like to place a Togo order and she says well you do that up there and points back toward the hostess stand. Wtf?!? anyways between the hostess stand and this salad bar is a little closet looking area with a girl sitting inside. I politely wait for her to finish her texting and again ask about placing a Togo order. She slams a menu down. It is filthy, has writing all over it and prices you would expect from a much nicer place. There is not a lot to chose from, but I have narrowed it down to a few that sound pretty good. Then.... She starts screaming! I don't know if she can see the kitchen or something from back there or what, but It was just to much for me! I cannot rate the food, but the atmosphere gets 1 star. We have eaten here before and the food and service were great. This time, however, the service was horrible as was the food. The filet were overcooked, the risotto was mush and over salted. The brussels sprouts were cold, and we had to wait an abnormally long time for refills. When the supervisor was notified, she was very brusque, but did rectify the situation with the food....but the refills were still slow in coming. We waited a long time for our waiter to take our drink order. The food on the salad bar was horrible. We waited a long time for our food and they were not even busy. We finally got our food and it was very bland and tasteless. We had to get their attention to get drink refills because they never came back to check on us. We get through eating and receive our bill and they charged us for a 12 oz. fillet instead of the 12 oz. steak (NOT FILLET) that we ordered. We told the waiter and he said he would get the manager. A lady came over to the table and proceeded to tell us that there was nothing she could do about it since it was already eaten. We said we didn't realize it was the fillet which is $40 that the waiter brought out. The steak we ordered was the 12 oz. steak for $21 (a considerable price difference!). She was very rude and argued with us about it and never offered any help except that she was not correcting it. She then said she couldn't anyway only a manager could do it. So we asked to speak to a manager and she said he was not available. Needless to say the waiter who got the order wrong in the first place (and I use "waiter" lightly!) did not receive a tip. We felt the tip he would have received was enough to cover his mistake and he didn't deserve a tip. Only tip he and his supervisor need is to find a new profession! And as for the restaurant, you should always have a manager on hand to resolve issues. You would think in a classy and new casino they would shut a place like this down. I will NEVER return to that restaurant again nor anyone from our party that night. They were floored and embarrassed at how we were treated. read more
