We pass by all of em clearly looking for something and not a single "can we help you". Once we check out there's no "hi, did you find everything ok"...simply a "cash or card" Throws us a receipt, not even a thank you or have a good day or idk....something acknowledging the fact that our hard earned money is paying their waste of time job. Let me first say that I have been shopping at the location for a few years now and they are consistent on one thing, not having anything. For a farm store they sure do t have a lot of stuff you might need as a rancher or farmer. The other surprising thing is that the HQ is right behind the store. I would think that they would use this as their flagship store and make it big and show off all the things they try and offer but no. A lot of times I have to either drive to Pocatello at their store or just go to TS or go to rexburg location which has a way bigger selection on things actual ranchers or farmers need. The other issue I have with calranch is that they don't like to cover their feed at all. Back when I used to buy feed from them I had a few bags that were moldy. I could write an essay on how bad they are as a "farm store". I will say that the bottom employees, non management are helpful. I still shop here because it's close to home.... read more

I don't know why they even keep the Rexburg store open, they barely stock the minimum they have to and never have what you need, the employees are helpful directing you to the stores around you to get the right item. The company should look at changing management to see if they could do better at stocking the store. It's almost worthless to even go in there anymore read more

Cal Ranch Ammon now engages in unorganized animal cruelty events. The current event is "Watch Birds Die on Bird Spikes Along the Store Front Rafters." Customers are being greeted by dying or dead fledglings trapped in the "deterrent" spikes, as they enter the store. They place the deterrent spikes in the rafters and then crowd the space with bird attractants-like nesting materials, where the birds are automatically comprehend that they aren't supposed to use the nesting materials provided and to avoid the spikes. Clearly, the "devices" are working as planned. They hire employees who find it amusing that customers find the spectacle disturbing when they report the problem. Even being asked "Are you from around here?" As if it is the acceptable norm if one resides in Idaho Falls to be entertained or not affected by animals becoming trapped and suffering in "deterrent" spikes in front of a store. Great advertising! The CEO was approached about the matter, but it is difficult to determine whether the marquee will change entirely or just be modified by adding additional "sport" in front of the store. read more

We have been very faithful shoppers since we moved here. All but one employee has always been very helpful, one guy seems like he just hates life. We were in a bind needing hay for the winter. I was shaeduled to leave the state for work soon, so we paid 5k for hay. The manager assured us it would be in in a week. A month later we went in asking to speak to him to try and figure out what was going on. He wouldn't talk with us just told the nice lady that was trying to help us "If they want they're money back just give it to them I'm not coming up to talk to them. We have not shopped the ammon store since. Once that manager is gone we'll happily shop there again. Until then we shop the Rexburg store. read more

I left an email asking about a specific item they claimed to have in stock and I never got any type of response. Not even a sorry we don't have this, absolutely nothing. If you cant even return a simple email then one can only imagine the service they would or wouldn't provide. Will never do business here. read more

Have looked at pellet grills for several weeks and have become interested in a particular Camp Chef. The C-A-L Ranch email I received this past weekend had the one I was interested in at $200 dollars off. I immediately went on-line and made the purchase. The transaction went through with my credit card being charged. Two days later I received an email which said, "Your order number *******17 has had a bit of a hiccup. The item(s) below are out of stock and have been removed from your order. Rest assured, no charges will be placed on your account for the unavailable item(s). " I went to the store and found the exact Camp Chef model sitting there on the floor. Note only that, the flyer of today has that same model on sale at a considerably higher price. MY credit card has been charged not only once, but three times. Doesn't seem to be honest business practices!!! I suggest avoiding C-A-L Ranch if at all possible. read more

What is wrong with this store and the people who work there? Seriously! I just hate to go in there and have been driving to the Blackfoot store but I was running errands in Idaho Falls today so for convenience I went into the Ammon store. I purchased a 40# bag of alfalfa cubes, 2 25# bags of pig feed, 2 40# bags of dry den bedding, and 2 huge bags of shavings. I am elderly and disabled. Do you think anyone could help me load my truck? Worst customer service ever! Bought a trailer tire Sunday. Turns out it was the wrong size, tried to return it on Monday... I didn't not have my receipt, but had my card I used for purchase. They said could only give me a gift card. OK that's fine. Now they say they can only give it to me "for their best sales price". Half of what I bought it for....WTF! I gave the gift card to a guy on my way out the door cause I won't be back to spend money there. read more

Only giving two stars. And that's only because the the men working at the gun counter are very nice and extremely helpful . The women working the registers are not helpful. I was there last week and was trying to checkout and one of the girls sat there and was having a personal conversation with her what I assume manager and made me sit there for a few minutes while they had this conversation. They aren't helpful and have ZERO clue on what they're doing . A week prior to that I was grabbing cologne and she had no clue on which bottle to grab and I told her three times which bottle it was she was just off on another planet every time I see the younger girls at the counter they're on there phones and take FOREVER to check people out because they're having personal conversations and making customers wait for THEM . My husband and I have been customers for years at the old Cal-Ranch and the new one. We purchased a 5 o6r 6 suet block for our birds. They did not like it, so we returned the remaining suet blocks and asked if they wanted the one in the cage too. The cashier called a manager to the front and he told us because it had been used, we could not get our money back or even store credit. I don't remember his name but it was a Friday evening and he was a slight man and I believe he had a mustache . he was rude and abrupt with us even though we had a receipt. Needless to say you have lost a long time customer. We will go to Walmart where we have no problem returning an item with a receipt. read more

But on more than one occasion I have tried to get some help from terry the manager she acts like she is better than everyone and it's one thing to be like that to me but I draw the line at doing it to my wife. They won't see my business anymore for what I can't get from valley wide in Menan. C-A-L Ranch stores has it all. I used to think it was just a farm and ranch store but now i realize they have truck loads of stuff for the everyday homeowner and family man. They even have a great selection of clothes that goes beyond western & work wear, it's some pretty trendy stuff. I also like that they have old fashioned candy that is hard to find elsewhere. read more

We shop CAL Stores often and have been quite satisfied with their products and services. Recently attended Chicken Stock there, just as spectators and purchasers, not vendors, although I do personally know two of the vendors. Was impressed with the function and especially the CAL Stores staff who went above and beyond to help make Chicken Stock a sucess. read more

Do not buy chics from CAL Ranch. We have lost 1/2 of ours. Should have realized there was a problem when we were checking out as the clerk was on the phone with someone else who had a dead chic. I have always ordered from McMurtry Hatchery and never lost a chic. Maybe CAL Ranch should do a better job of keeping people from handelimg them? Or find another supplier. As for me, I'm going back to ordering them online from McMurtry Hatchery. read more
