After my bridal store closed due to terrible management, I got my dress in one month before my wedding date and it was ordered in the wrong size, one size too small. I immediately reached out to my friends to see who they would recommend and Tatiana came highly recommended. Upon my first meeting, she was friendly, supportive and knew exactly what to do. Luckily I lost just enough weight to slip into the dress and Tatiana worked her magic around the hem and the shoulders. She was amazing. Tatiana was absolutely incredible. I brought in my complicated, fitted gown that I already loved, and she made me fall in love with it so much more. The dress fit absolutely perfectly. I was worried about losing the train of the gown, but she made the most lovely seven point bustle (which all the guests raved about!) Tatiana did such an amazing job on my wedding ceremony and reception dresses I brought her. She was also very accommodating to what time I could come as I was coming from the city only on weekends. She also finished the dresses usually in less than 2 weeks. I had gone to get quotes from a few places in the city before going to Tatiana but I'm so happy I came to her instead as she was much better to work with and very accommodating. I agree with many of the things others have said. She was extremely cold and rushed me through every appointment. She wouldn't do what I asked for and when I tried to explain how it could be done she brushed me off and continued to tell me no. She did things to the dress that I did not ask her to do. Her prices were very high and I am still sad with how my dress came out. I wouldn't recommend taking your wedding dress there. It was a very impersonal experience. read more

After reading the reviews, I called to make an appointment 4 weeks before our wedding day and they were able to take me the following week. The first visit was great. Tatiana was very thorough and gave advice and opinions on what would be best, which was super appreciated. My dress was ready the following week (today)! The dress fit perfectly and I'm so so excited to wear it! She added cups, Fixed the straps and also altered the train. On top of it all- so affordable! My daughter got married on 10-14-18. ONE week prior to her wedding the dress I purchased for her -- in October of 2017 was not ready from the seamstress in Franklin Square had not altered it....it would not be ready for her wedding. It was heartbreaking, so we went looking for another dress the Saturday before her wedding...seems impossible, but we bought a new dress off the rack at Blu Rayne Bridal (who were great) and Tatiana assured me she could do the alterations on her new dress if we could be at her house at 7 am on Monday morning. By my hand did my wedding dress alterations and they did such a beautifulllll job!!! She was able to completely transform my dress into something completely different and unique and I'm so obsessed with my dress. My dress originally had a closed back with buttons down the spine and she was able to remove all of it and make it an open back dress that was absolutely gorgeous and then besides the fitting, she also added hem lace all around the bottom of my dress and the bottom of the train. And to top that all of she had it done perfectly in two weeks! Also a snowstorm made me have to reschedule my fitting appointment after she had done the work on my dress; my day's didn't line up to where I could come in right before I was going away on vacation so she actually offered to meet up whenever I needed at a different location if it would be closer for me. I cannot say enough wonderful things about By My Hand Alterations. Tatiana did the alterations for my wedding gown. She listened to everything I wanted, and did a perfect job. I didn't have a lot of time to get the dress altered, and she did everything in one week. She exceeded my expectations and her prices were so affordable. Which in the wedding industry is saying a lot. My dress is intricate and has a lot of lace, and she altered it perfectly and the bustle is exactly what I wanted. She pinned me in the dress but then noticed I was adjusting the top so she kindly took the time to undo the pins and re do them so I'd feel more comfortable. With plenty of notice, coming as a stranger into another strangers home which I was skeptical, she met me without hardly even saying hello, she was extremely curt, rude, and hardly even spoke to me after charging me a price for a simple alteration that when I was inquiring why the price and how does she come to that number she again was short and dismissive when the price I felt was high for something so simple. She also was unwilling to work with me as far as pickup and stated it wouldn't be ready till the very early morning or late evening the day before which I felt was cutting it too close and wouldn't work for me...she didn't budge one bit. Won't be using her and I'd happily give my business elsewhere for someone more friendly! Customer service goes a long way, if she had been nicer and more welcoming def would've considered spending the $$$ and changing my pickup time but clearly she doesn't need my business to treat prospective clients like that! read more
