I was in a pinch before vacation and was already at the mall so I figured I would cancel my nail appointment elsewhere and try this place. I asked for dip with tips and a regular pedicure. I found that out at the end. I was a walk in so I didn't mind waiting but I was told "15 min" and it was like an hour. The woman who did my nails seemed to be rushing. She forgot to turn the UV light on and blamed me for not telling her. She filed excessively and never pushed my cuticles back. I asked for short and she didn't even ask what shape she just filed square. The nails turned out pretty good but the experience wasn't great. It was very expensive and I know nails are expensive hence why I only do them for special occasions. The fact that they didn't even tell me about the up charge on the toe polish really upset me seeing I chose the basic pedicure for a reason. I was there for 3 hours. It's been a week and 3 of my nails broke at the cuticles and peeled off. I paid for dip which is supposed to have better hold up. I will not go back and I don't feel comfortable going back in and having them fixed because they already look grown out. Save your money ladies. read more

If there was a -1 I'd give that. My service was awful. I booked on line in advance for a deluxe gel mani/Pedi. The girl who did my service (Kelly, I think) was unfriendly, rough, and very distracted by reading her phone. Also seemed her neck was hurting or she was in pain definitely acted put out by having to do my service. I've been here 1 other time about a year ago as I'm visiting the area. The last time was much better. Nothing worse than being charged a lot of money and leaving wishing you hadn't gone at all. When I left no one asked how my service was or anything but definitely pointed out the 3% charge for paying by credit card. Seriously a toddler could have polished my nails better. I went to the Fairmount location and was really impressed initially because the salon looks beautiful. I noticed a sign that said they charge a 3.5% service fee for using a credit card so I ran back out to get cash. When I returned I was seated immediately and my pedicure began. I chose the spa pedi which is $42 and imo reasonable for the services I would be receiving. Well I asked for a French tip and the lady who was doing my feet took it upon herself to do gel when I explained I wanted regular polish she said it wouldn't last and I needed to do gel if I wanted a French tip. I said ok thinking it might be an extra $10 or $15 it was actually an extra $20! I was a little annoyed by that and the fact she kept trying to upsell me on EVERYTHING. I only get my nails done 2 or 3 times per year and it is usually here. It's very convenient and usually not much of a wait. They are very patient when my daughters want their nails painted. I've been going here for almost two years and love the lady who does my nails unfortunately I will not be going back. Two weeks after my nails were done I noticed a black spot under my gel and finally removed the gel polish and gel. I thought I had mold under the gel but it was bacteria (Green spot). I was diagnosed with Pseudomonas from dirty utensils. I am not one who sits there with her phone while her nails get done, or touches her face, which also spreads the bacteria. I have been going to this nail salon for over a few years now. My biggest complaint is they just lack customer service skills. They rush you to the chair and give you little to no space while taking a jacket or shoes off. I have had my gel polish chip 2 times days within my pedi. When I call or come back in they look at me like I'm a liar, even if I have a sales slip with me! If you get anything waxed there make sure they fully remove the wax, they didn't the last time I went. When I asked them to remove it they gave me a little tissue and said try this.... If you're getting acrylic nails done, make an appointment with Philip, he shapes nails the best out of all the technicians. Their nail polish selection is mediocre, so you may want to take your own. Although the place is a bit cramped, it is fairly big, as there is another area hidden in the back of the salon, where they do spa pedicures. My three stars review is based on the quality and shape of the nails. For example, Philip did just an OKAY job at shaping squared nails, BUT was able to do stiletto nails very well. I went to Camillus location that just opened. First the smell at this location is headache inducing, it is a new store so I am not sure if it is a ventilation issue but I had a huge headache when I left. I have been to many nail salons and never have experienced this level of fumes. I had my toe nails cut and they were jagged and not filed well. It is rare that I get my nails done but it was my sister's wedding and we needed our nails and toes done. An appointment was made ahead of time so when we got there, they were ready for the 5 of us. We all got spa pedicures which were great. I certainly needed one and it felt amazing. They know what they are doing and do it well. I had no problems with my pedicure and I loved the massage chairs they have there. After our pedicures, I got a manicure. It was nice and done well. I have no complaints of my service or the lady who took care of my pedicure and manicure. We had a few small conversations but I am not a person who cares for small talk, I find it to be pointless so I was happy with the silence. The only thing that I was not happy with is that my manicure did not last. I got a french manicure and the next day (Wedding day) it was chipped and within 2 days, it was peeled off of most of my nails - Such a waste of money. Overall, I was content with my service. FIRST OF ALL I am not one to typically complain. If I go to a restaurant and I experience bad service I justify it because not everyone is perfect and every establishment is entitled to a bad day. I entered said BV nails and I was greeted politely. It smelled of acetone and knock off prada bags. I have been there before and they have always been quick and efficient. I was brought to a table where there was a woman who was trying to convince me to keep the acrylics. I did not want to and she proceeded to take them off. She was telling me my nails were short (no shit I have eyes) and I reassured her that my wish was to get a gel manicure. On the first nail...THE FIRST NAIL she used nail clippers and went in too far. She clipped it and it hurt more than it should. I pulled my hand back and she pretended like she had done nothing, however my nail was bleeding. I looked at it and she had not only taken off the tip but she went too far and clipped it so that my real nail CRACKED IN HALF. While in severe pain she took my hand and another tool and began to try and dig the fake nail off!!! THEN she told me to put it in acetone. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!?!? I have had a paper cut and acetone touched it and I almost cried. By this time I'm heated and angry. No apology. She speaks to her boss in another language and indicates that she broke my real nail and she goes into the back room. He takes off my other nails and tells me that it will heal and that I should just super glue it. He also informs me that I do not have to pay for nail removal. NO SHIT I DON'T HAVE TO PAY!!! WOW is all I have to say WOW. I WILL NEVER GO HERE EVER EVER AGAIN. Did I get a free mani pedi? No, no I did not. Save yourself from pain and heartbreak. read more

I consider myself to be a generous person w regards to reviews, but I'm giving this place two stars bc of the experience as well as bc my nail polish came off the day after it applied & they don't allow credit card tips. First, the nail polish. Oil + nail polish = manicure fail. A lot of techs put lotion or oil on your hands before the polish, and it peels off the day after. It's a bummer. Second, cash tips are great if you are the type that has cash all the time. I don't. ATM is across the way, but you might as well just pay for the entire thing in cash. There are signs at every station, but no signs before you walk in. For me, manis and pedis are part of self care. They make me feel relaxed & ready for the rest of the day. I was going to an interview in a city I had never been in before, & this was quick but not at all relaxing. The salon is loud, I happened to be sitting next to a 20-something year old woman who was yelling to be heard over the ambient noise level. The station chairs aren't too comfortable, and it's a bit crowded. They did not have the polish color that I was looking for and my technician didn't understand what I was asking for, so she couldn't help me. I am visiting, first time customer, decided to swing by for a gel manicure. The 5 stars is for my nail tech Tee is her name. I hope I am spelling that right. She was very sweet and gentle with my hands. I wanted a short gel manicure very square with white polish. Even though her and I did not speak much she did a GREAT job. She took her time, cut all my cuticles, made sure the polish was covering my entire nail and the most important thing, the shape was very square just how I like it. Absolutely terrible nail salon. If I could give them 0 stars i would. The events that have made me never want to return 1. The woman doing my nails paid 0 attention to what she was doing. She was constantly interacting with her coworkers, which is usually fine, but she was ONLY paying attention to her co workers. At one point she smudged my entire nail because she wasn't looking. She decided to blob on nail polish in the area she touched. This took a while to dry, instead of waiting she put the clear coat on which causes the polish to run. She removed the polish from that nail and had to do all 3 coats over again. 2. The technician and her coworkers kept passing money around, I'm still not really sure what was going on there. But money was being passed all around. 3. She had to use her nail to clean up polish around my finger nail. She had to fix her work on every single nail. Because she wasn't paying attention, she had to clean up, and also caused me some pain by digging in deep with her nail, again because she wasn't paying attention. I have never experienced that before, occasional cleanup sure, but not on every single nail for every single coat. 4. They put me in the back of the salon which was dark and dingy and very strange back there 5. Let's get down to the after product. She didn't get the clear coat on my full nail, so it caused a rift between the coated parts and uncoated parts, introducing a lot of chipping. ONE DAY and it started chipping and pealing 6. DISCOLORATION!! My pink nail polish is currently orange after only 3 days! THREE DAYS!!! Wtf is that!?!? 7. BUBBLESS!! After it dried, so many bubbles. I could've done a better job on myself. In conclusion, do not waste your money at this place. There are better, cheaper, and more quality nail salons, do not waste your time and efforts here.
