Popped in for lunch after a fun scavenger hunt we took place in Jon Oct.1rst. Unbeknownst to us, it was on the same day as a parade and the kick off for Octoberfest. I saw it was a 40 minute wait, so I used the reserve a table/check in feature on Yelp. We had a 10 minute walk from where we were and made it there in about that time. I walked in to let the hostess know we had arrived and we only waited about 8 minutes outside when I got the alert that our table was ready. I was a bit put off by the prices ($17-25 for an entree) but when in Rome ... or LaCrosse ‍ We ordered gator and some crawfish deal for appetizers and they were both amazing. But let me tell you, the size of your entree, the price point makes sense! I got 4 meals out of the jambalaya pasta!!! It's a little noisy, most definitely crowded on the big weekends, but good food and lots of it. read more

Best Cajun food I've had outside of New Orleans. A packed house dinner time on a Wednesday. Not sure if they have live music here, but they should. The interior is really cool. Stay at the Holiday Inn. Eat Cajun across the street. read more

Very slow service but we also went on a day were there was monster trucks at the lacrosse center. I got one of the po boys which was the Cochon du lait which was really delicious and very big I split it with somebody else because it was huge and the pork with the coleslaw was so delicious and the jerk pork was so good. I also had the poutine which was good but you would also have to share that because it is huge.It was very loud in there but it was still not very loud. I should also mention that the staff was very kind and they warned us they were short staffed so the wait might be a little longer then usual. Overall if you are not willing to wait a little bit and if you know they are going to give you huge portions then I totally recommend this restaurant. read more

Went early afternoon on a weekday when the place was near empty. Staff are caring. The beer selection was decent, and beer really good for a Dogfish Head 90-minute. The Cajun Combo platter was a nice balance of flavors and textures; the catfish had excellent blackened flavor though was kinda small; the gumbo was really worthwhile - - loaded with chunks of tasties; the jambalaya was sufficiently moist with streaks of tomato and halfway decent spice; the hush puppies were an almost dessert-like accent. If you're craving cajun, or simply more flavorful food than most (when leaving Lafayette LA once I was talking to a bartender about the local cuisine, and she said, "Yeah, come to think of it, when I go to most anywhere else in the U.S., the food is kind of boring,") then this will tide you over right nice, now, cher. read more

Hard to argue with most of the reviews no matter how many Turtle Stack stouts I had - dang good beer. The service was great - thanks Niki! The crawfish Cajun popcorn simply the best. Nailed it! The gator nuggets - well like lots of gator I've had tasted like chicken. Not chefs fault - gators fault. The meals we ordered - very very good. Niki added gladly added 2 fried oysters to each dish - nice texture and oyster taste - for the chef the batter was a bit salty. Loved the meal - can't wait to go back! read more

For the first time in months, I ordered takeout for 6PM and arrived on time. I decided to dine in instead and asked for my order. Two tables, one of four, the other six, seated after me. They ordered, ate, and left and I'm still sitting there. This is 45 minutes after I had ordered and told to pick up at 6. They finally brought me my dinner, in a box, and it was the worst dinner I had had in years. Shrimp Creole, with about 6 tiny shrimp and a load of rice. They wrote off the dinner, but charged me for a Bloody Mary. I said, "No. You're buying. I'm leaving." And I walked out. I will never go back there again. read more

WOW. Where do I begin?? First off, Terri greeted us with the warmest smile as we entered the establishment. We immediately knew we were in the right place. Next, we got seated at (arguably) the BEST seat in the house with Terry as our server. They were out of fried pickles... but that's ok, Tarey! Instead we gawked at the gargantuan menu until we landed on the saucy bun and shrimp my shrimps pasta. If I could decried the saucy bun in one word -- I would say 'nut'. When asked how I would describe shrimp my shrimps -- I would say 'creamed'. Overall, Terrie is the GOAT and we will be returning after we are out of our food coma. read more

The food here is simply amazing! Anyone who likes cajun/creole food has to make a stop here if they are in the La Crosse area. Flavorful food with just the right amount of spice and heat are the name of the game here. They also don't assume that cajun/creole automatically has to include shrimp. I love the flavors, but I am not a shrimp person. Their jambalaya and jambalaya pasta are both traditional jambalaya with chicken, ham, and andouille sausage. They do have seafood jambalaya which has shrimp, but that's an important distinction. One of the favorites here is the cajun sampler, which has a half order of jambalaya, gumbo, hush puppies, and a filet of blackened catfish. The person in our party who ordered it said everything was delicious. For appetizers, try the armadillo eggs, which are a common app in Texas apparently. These are essentially jalapeno poppers surrounded with chicken and wrapped in bacon. Truly a wonder of engineering. The jerk pulled pork nachos are also excellent. Be warned, though: these nachos are more than enough for an entree for one person. The service is very friendly and efficient, and the ambience is also worth the visit. You can sit at the bar and watch various sporting events. There are TVs strategically positioned so you can watch while you eat as well. read more

Enjoyed an excellent dinner at BB. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine and a salad. The restaurant was bustling but we were seated quickly and our waiter was attentive. The only thing that was off-putting was getting a packet of dressing on TOP of my salad. It completely ruined the presentation and I felt like I was in a cafeteria. This is my favorite restaurant in La Crosse. Highly recommend this place if you like cajun food!

First and foremost I have been to New Orleans probably a dozen times. That being said this is the best blackened catfish I have ever had, seriously it is done soooo right. Yes even better than the god father of blackening Paul Prudhomme and I have eaten at his restaurant several times in NOLA. So if you want blackening done right look no further, your search is over this is the real deal boys and girls. Gumbo is excellent and a solid 4 plus stars. Both Jambalaya and crawfish etouffe are very good some minor nuisances to each dish that are more personal preference for me but worth a go if you have already tried the two previous choices. If you like true cajun/creole food you will be very pleased, put this restaurant on your to do list. Please note this was corona carry out so continue to support your local business... Lastly owner if you read this please let me know your secret for blackening because I thought I had it down pretty solid, but lord I found out I still have a little way to go and any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated:) read more

This place is a rough diamond- the environment is dark, fisherman house style, and friendly. The alligator strips melted in your mouth and the salad was delicious. The wait staff was delightful and the wait time was adequate. What's a review without opportunities for improvement? I would say two things, although the food was delicious, every dish on the table had a lot of parsley flakes around the edges unnecessarily, and the prices are on the higher end and is definitely a "treat yourself" kinda place. I will definitely go again, but I might ask to omit the parsley. ;) read more

Service is prompt and polite. Food comes out quickly! We came here Mother's Day and it was surprisingly not busy. We ordered Greek salad, Cajun combo (best part was the tilapia) and the eggplant smothered in rich cheesy sauce with seafood. Had I known it would be smothered I would have asked for sauce on side. It was far too rich and greasy. We could only stomach a few bites before pushing the sauce over. Otherwise it was tasty and satisfying. But overall everything was tasty. You can probably pass on gumbo and jambalaya as it didn't wow us over but the fish and seafood eggplant were solid choices. So because of that and the great service I give this place 4 stars. read more

Oh this place! We went here a few years ago while driving through on a road trip, and I have thought about their beer cheese soup ever since! This time our daughter was there doing a hospital rotation for college and we had to try it again :). And it was SOOO good...just what I remembered!! And not just the soup! We started out with an order of the pretzels sticks which were amazing! If there are pretzels on the menu somewhere...I'm on it...often disappointed unfortunately, but not with these! They were warm, soft, just the right amount of salt, and along with the cheese or mustard dipping sauces...so good! I also ordered a big bowl of soup so I could have some as leftovers for home, and it was as good as I remembered! For our entrees I ordered the BLT with hush puppies...OMG...both were fantastic! The sandwich was delicious with a toasted jalapeno bread, great bacon and fresh ingredients, and the hush puppies (which you never find up here, but I wish we did) were hot and crunchy. With a side of the tarter sauce I was in heaven! My husband had the Jerk pulled pork sandwich and onion rings and he loved it, and our daughter had the Philly Cheese steak Po'Boy. Again...a fan was created! This is obviously a rave review for this place, but any negatives? Not much honestly. The service was terrific, the place was fun, but it is busy and can get pretty loud, the menu is creative and offers a lot of great choices. Parking can be a pain sometimes, but overall just a great place and I can't wait to go back! read more

Trigger warning : puke. Got 2 orders of jumbo the other night, took it home ate it everything was fine. Next morning I threw up all the rice. They are serving that fake rice that you can burn and it produces a black flame. It was tasty but I don't like plastic rice.
