One room had 2 full beds and a bunk bed, the other had two queens. This meant, six people had their own bed, with one to spare, for just over 75 bucks a piece. On to the caveats: The hotel is a bit sketchy looking when approaching at night. Its a strip of rooms behind a house. The rooms, while clean, are very outdated. It really had the feel of a family cabin rather than a hotel, so be prepared. Random stuff we found: A large tub of vaseline (minus one star) and a random unlabeled video. There was a quick facebook update followed by a tri-state 10 person argument on if we should watch a potential "Ringu" movie... It turned out to be the travel channel. The owner (guy who checked me in?) was british (australian, I suck with accents?) and super friendly. Considering lots of jokes about hotel bates were made, it was very comforting to have friendly staff. The comparative price of hotels in the area, and the shear novelty of actually putting more than two queen beds in a hotel room, I'm awarding the riverside inn 4 stars. If I'm in the area with a small group, I would consider going back. Its just not for a romantic get away.

My parents, my girlfriend, and myself decided to give this place a try for a trip/visit while my parents were up. We did book about a month or 2 weeks out, and didn't have any problems getting the rooms. My mom picked it out specifically due to the fact that it was pet friendly. (My mom has a Chihuahua that is very much like a discover card... she never leaves home without it... err, him.) If you check out their website, you'll be able to see the owner's wonderful cats and dogs that are usually hiding someone on the property, if not looking for your attention. ;-) The location is great. Nestled off the beaten path, err... road, and set between a few rolling hills and plenty of wooded acreage. It is a beautiful scene and get-away that's great to see any season of the year. Though I highly recommend mid to late fall with the changing colors of the leaves and foliage. The owner's are VERY nice people. Greeting us and helping us with our bags, giving us information about the house, area, and the sites to see. They even suggested a few nice places for us to grab dinner the local towns, although they also offered a cooked dinner in the B&B as well. The family den area is very nice and cozy, with plenty of places to sit and read, watch a bit of TV, check your email, or play a game of chess. There is even a wood burning stove if you just want to sit by the heat/fire and talk. There are also large glass windows/doors that let in plenty of light and offer a view of the back yard and pool area. The word "back yard" doesn't provide much justice either because the view is actually very nice/pleasant. The rooms are very nice, well kept, and definitely inviting. My parents stayed downstairs in the "Presidential Suite" which has a canopy bed, and a little sitting room attached, along with a private bath and a sliding door for access to the back yard. My mom thought this room would be best for letting the dog in and out when/if needed. The hard wood floors, and wood post bed make this room feel a bit old, but in a good way! Me and my girl stayed in the Foliage room upstairs, which had a HUGE king bed, private bath, and a small TV to fall asleep too. :-P The bed was very comfy, and the overall room was very clean. The bathroom had a very classic modern feel to it, which I kept talking about during our stay. It was a neat bathroom... LOL In the morning we were all welcomed with a nice, and healthy, breakfast. Lime zest pancakes with turkey bacon, diced potatoes, and coffee/juice. Top off the pancakes with some local Vermont maple syrup and it's almost heavenly! Overall this was a great experience (though a bit of a drive), and I would HIGHLY recommend it for a weekend get-away. Great for hiking on the property or in the area, and the city of Burlington isn't far away if you want to get out and do some shopping. If you in the marketplace for a quick retreat, I'd suggest checking this one out.

We had to argue with them extensively and escalate to senior leadership at Vacasa (the property management company) to get something done about it. We substantially overpaid through our exchange for a really crappy room w a broken pullout. The room would not accommodate 6 as described and eventually we did get them to give us another room. The pool and hot tub are dated. Cleaning is unprofessional and bad. Rooms are dated and grimey. The staff leaves at 5 so if you arrive after that or have a problem good luck. Given the number of lovely resorts in the area I would highly recommend avoiding this one. It's overpriced and their marketing is very misleading. Also, the playground is a huge danger to kids. There's a balance beam under the rickety monkey bars. Lucky our 4 year old didn't break his back when he fell. 0/10

I'm an RCI timeshare member and used a week of my time at the Mountainside Resort this past week…read more Tonight's my last night, and while I am sad to have to leave Stowe and the surrounding area, I do think the resort could've been a bit nicer. I'm no lodging snob, but there are some things that I just don't understand not spending a bit of time and money on. The most glaring thing for me is the condition of the driveway up to the resort. Via the back way, which goes right into the resort village and bypasses the office, the road is horrendous - potholes , cracks, patches of newer paving mixed with the older patches. I mean, come on. Spend a bit of money and make an effort to make it a little nicer - my first impression of this place was going up that drive, and I'm sorry, but that's not the greatest first impression. You don't want your customers to feel like you're skimping on relatively easy things to accomplish. Second is the utter lack of lighting for the resort's sign on Mountain Rd. Not only is it pushed back and slightly hidden, but there is NO lighting around it whatsoever - so good luck if you're coming here in the dark for the first time. That being sad, the place wasn't awful. Our one bedroom condo, while small, provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The full kitchen was very helpful as we ended up cooking 1-2 meals per day here. The bedroom is very small, with only enough room for a dresser and small nightstand. The bed wasn't great, but hotel beds usually aren't, so that wasn't a big surprise. The bathroom was fine except for the absurdly tiny stand-in-only shower - never in my life have I felt so claustrophobic while showering. I have longish hair and there was literally no way for me to avoid getting it wet because no matter how I stood in the shower, I was directly underneath the shower head. Had I put my elbows out a bit I would've been touching both sides. I can see this being a very big problem for someone of a larger size. The complete lack of housekeeping service was a bit strange; while I enjoy the idea of not having to leave every day to let the maids do their thing, having 0 housekeeping is not something I have ever seen at any resort I have ever stayed in before. The only thing remotely close to housekeeping is a towel exchange on wednesdays, where you have to bag up your used towels and bring them to the office to get a new bag of them. The pool was nice but small. With only 88 rooms, a huge pool isn't needed, but I believe that the resort would do well to at least have a small outdoor poor somewhere ; the one they have now is indoors only. More than one spot to catch some sun would be great, too. All in all, this was a pleasant stay, but again, there are some things that were just entirely missed that I have a hard time wrapping my head around. I would come back if I wanted to come back to northern VT and this was the only available option; there are many other places in the area of varying quality and price levels and while I am definitely positive there are many places that are much, much worse than this, I know there are places that are better as well if you're willing to spend the extra money.

The downstairs has a kitchen and then a large open space for a dining table and living room. There is an electric fire place and a back door/small patio. The rather small flatscreen TV is located in an odd area that would be impossible for the entire living room to view comfortably. We ended up taking an end table and putting the TV on it in front of the fireplace (we didn't use the fireplace, it was a hot summer week) so we could both see it more comfortably. Upstairs is the main bedroom with a full bath except the sink is outside of the bathroom where the toilet and shower are. In the hallway is a full bath and a second bedroom. There is an indoor and outdoor pool on site. Both looked small but more then enough to keep cool or to do something on a rainy day (the indoor pool). The bed and pillows were reasonably comfortable. The worst part of the stay is that there is no AC, just 2 large, dusty fans. The week we stayed the average temperature was in the low to mid 80's. That's AC weather as far as I'm concerned. So sleeping was somewhat uncomfortable with only a fan. The unit wasn't all that clean or well maintained. Some dust, wall paper peeling with possibly mold in the bathroom area, shower head needs a good cleaning. The furniture is old and uncomfortable, the TVs are small and in awkward areas. The utensils are old and have seen better days. I don't think I would ever come back to this resort due to the accommodations but it is located in a nice area. You can easily walk to the well known "Rec Path" that includes small local shops and restaurants along with bike rental shops.

The owners were so kind and welcoming everybody that works there was very nice and breakfast was the best part of the day. The owner breaks up homemade muffins for breakfast every day, and there are plenty full options, such as scrambled eggs and sausage, yogurt, and granola. And a pack it up so well for you so you can totally eat it on your way up to the mountain. The absolute peak of this entire trip was the hot tub is at the northern lights lodge. Surprisingly it was rarely occupied we barely had to wait except for one time we may be waited 20 minutes for a group to leave because it's a pretty small hot tub and we were four people trying to go together The hot tub is also open from 8 AM to 10 PM great for a pre-post ski session. There is also a sauna and indoor pool and an outdoor pool. The outdoor pool was not open for the winter obviously. The rooms were spacious and cozy. Definitely looking forward to make a trip back. Oh, and the ski shuttle to Stowe resort is across the street

Parking was plentiful. Check in was easy, straight forward, ZERO hassles, service with a smile. Hotel is old school ski lodge, which, is totally awesome by me. This is a get away, let's go back in time when things mattered not just "Cash or Charge". Rooms are very very clean, very comfortable, heat works great and it's pretty cold and windy outside. Yea, I can dig this place. Nice, old school, charm. I will stay here more often. Breakfast and indoor pool available, I'm just here to ski. Give a five because it not the 4 seasons and it doesn't pretend to be. Family owned, small business, right on! Support your local business!!

Even though we didn't stay at the inn the second night we were in Danville, we care back for breakfast.
