It's an American diner, very popular with the rural community and plenty roomy to accommodate lots of patrons. I've been to Busy Corner five or six times. Here are the pluses: * Great coffee and absolutely, unequivocally INCREDIBLE pies * Breakfast served all day * Good value for your money * Always very clean dining room and bathrooms * Convenient location right off I-74 * Plenty of parking, including large vehicles * Consistently friendly and attentive waitstaff Of all the times I have been to Busy Corner, it's typically been for breakfast. Good food at a good price. Great biscuits and gravy, delicious French toast, and it's hard to complain about eggs or bacon anywhere. Tonight I ordered off the dinner menu for the first time. I ordered the bacon-wrapped, charbroiled pork tenderloin with baked potato and coleslaw. The slaw came out first and was tasty if a little wetter than I'd prefer. Not vinegary slaw, but mayo/salad dressing based. It lacked something, and now after some reflection it strikes me that what it was missing was celery seed. That would have been a great improvement. However, it was obviously homemade. The pork was a disappointment. I prefer a moist, closer to medium pork loin, but this one was very well done, and as a result very dry. I had to request Heinz 57 in order to eat it. There was also a skewer going through the meat that probably should have been removed before I cut into it with my knife. Not even the smallest bit of it had been protruding from the surface, so I had no idea it was even there. The potato was not hot and I suspect had been cooked much earlier in the day. The butter barely even melted. In the interest of full disclosure, I did not complain to the server, and she may well have made it right given the chance. I was part of a large bus group of nearly 50 people and didn't want to hold up the group waiting for another dish. Also, as we were a sizable group, the kitchen may very well have been slightly overwhelmed. To their credit, they did a fantastic job of coordinating the timing of everyone's dishes, and I heard nothing but good feedback from the others in my party. read more

Good food at reasonable prices. We've been here for breakfast and dinner and just for pie. The regular food is good but the homemade pies are excellent. Minus one star for the bad coffee. We'd eat breakfast here more often if they at least had decent coffee. read more

I go to college an hour away from this place and the drive to get pie is worth it. They have cheesecake pies, chocolate pies, and fruit pies. If you don't know what to order you should try their triple berry pie. I've only had dinner here once and everything was delicious and the waiter was really friendly. Absolutely love this place! Great service, great prices, great food! Heard of it through several recommendations when I had mentioned I'd be visiting the area. Some of the best home cooking comfort food I've had in a long time! Taco salad: My friend said it was very good. Doesn't come in a taco bowl, but I think it had tortilla chips in it? They gave him plenty of salsa and sour cream! Turkey Melt: I think this was the name of it. Very tasty and comes with a sandwich sauce that you dip it in made of (trying to remember) French, Thousand Island, Ranch....maybe it was just those 3 things...I might be missing one item. Mashed Potatoes: This was just a side with my sandwich, but wow, are they good! Cookie Dough Cheesecake; They have soooo many fresh baked pie slices and cheesecake...I mean a lot. The dessert menu was overwhelming. I had to go to the case and just look. One of the servers asked if I wanted help and proceeded to tell me what each one was called. There must have been 30 different ones! Oh, and yes, the cookie dough cheesecake rocked! The food here is not great. It's fine. It is small-town, one restaurant in the whole town, kind of food. That is not to say that you can't find something good on the menu, I'm sure you can, and it is reasonably priced. However, we aren't talking about good food here. We are talking about some fried fish or chicken, maybe a salad of some sort, and a glass of iced tea. The real draw to this place is the pie, as you can see with all of the other reviews. The pies are good. They have a big selection and make them fresh daily. If you're stuck in Goodfield for some strange reason, then definitely give this place a try, but I don't see any reason to make a trip from elsewhere. read more

I've been going to the Busy Corner since they were in the original location and they've really gone down hill recently. They've had a great reputation for so long that they feel they don't really have to try any longer. The last time we were there, I had the fried catfish which had obviously come frozen and pre-breaded out of a box. The country fried steak wasn't any better and even the gravy was disappointing. Even the pies looked like no one really cared. The staff is friendly, but the place just seems to be coasting and resting on its laurels. I eat a Busy Corner at least once a week. The food is always amazing. I usually goes with the grilled chicken melt. If I skip on the fries I definitely enjoy a slice of pie, seems like everyone is always talking about the pie. But you should definitely try some cheesecake too! read more

Busy Corner is VERY well known for their pies. Such a great place to get a pie for a party, holiday dinner or just because. My favorite is the chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake...so good! Definitely try Ron's homemade tenderloin (SO big and really tasty), this is really Ron (one of the cooks) family recipe and their fried chicken is pretty darn good too! Definitely kid friendly, great for groups but be sure to call ahead to make a reservation on the weekends! Great for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or just dessert & coffee at the counter! When I used to live in the area I was a regular here. I would bring friends and family from out of town and we always had a great breakfast, lunch and dinner at a very fair price and good quality homemade food. At most places you skip dessert at the end. You cannot skip the pies here and take one with you if you can't eat it there. You won't be disappointed in the turtle, peanut butter pie, banana cream pie and apple pie. The place is clean, has lots of space for groups and you can get in and out for $10-15 per person with a full belly. Food was just ok, we had grilled ham and cheese, pork tenderloin sandwich, chili and fries. Lemonade was horrible. Tollhouse pie was just ok, maybe walnuts would have been better instead of pecans since walnuts are in a traditional "Tollhouse" anything. I thought it was a bit dry especially reading that it had a lot of promised gooeyness to it. My family enjoyed the cherry pie. Nice people working there and we tipped well although prices are too high for less than spectacular food. read more

We plan our trips so we can have at least one meal coming and going to any destination at the Busy Corner. We discovered it about 5yrs. ago and it is a must stop everytime. I love the friendly atmosphere and the food can't be beat. For the person who was disappointed that you didn't have the option of pancakes or toast, I'm pretty sure there is a Dennys in Peoria. For me, I wouldn't trade the homemade goodness for all the Denny's in the world. But that's just me, I have taste buds. Busy Corner, I hope you are still around for years and years to come. Service was a little slow. My tea sat empty for 10 mins even with waiter buzzing around us. I ordered the Ron's Handmade Tenderloin. It was huge but had no flavor. It only tasted of grease. The french fries I got with it were few, flavorless, and soggy. The kids both ordered Country Fried Steak. The Country Fried Steak is average. The mashed potatoes are instant and if they aren't they sure taste it. Total cost for 3, $45 and not very good food or service. I have eaten breakfast here as well and thought it was meh. This is a bigger version of the typical small town breakfast cafe :) The breakfast bar area gathered together old-timers sipping their morning coffee and sharing jokes about the weather. They greeted an officer warmly, informing those nearby that "he won't ticket, it's raining out". The food is warm and hearty: I had a breakfast combination of eggs, pancakes, sausage, and hashbrown casserole. But you're welcome for lunch and dinner items as well! I've eaten here at least 20 times in recent years --- its a few miles from the retirement community my parents moved to and its a far better option than most of the other small-town cafe type restaurants we've tried. The menu is not that unusual or special: lots of other resturants offer vary similiar fare. But the quality of the food is much higher in my opinion. They are known for their fried chicken and you can't go wrong with that (if your diet allows!); they also have non-fried alternative. Definitely don't miss the pies; there is always a large selection, nicely displayed, and delicous. The lemon merinque is one of my favorites; the various berry pies are very good too. The coffee is watered down resturant type coffee --- I would avoid it unless you are desperate, it not bad tasting, just not strong enough. I should also mention that this is a very economical place to eat -- I'm always astounded at how low the prices are. The resturant is roomy, new looking and comfy in sort of a country-kind of way without being too cutesy. We've always had prompt polite and friendly service here. read more

Overall, we have had excellent experiences at Busy Corner. I've had great food, including the fried chicken, prime rib, and my girlfriend loves threw chicken strips. 90% of the time, the service is also tremendous. Great location right off of I-74, too, which is kind of a dead spot between Peoria and Bloomington when it comes to food. However, on a couple of occasions, the food has been dry or overcooked (I would avoid the pork if I were you), and the service has been poor. These occasions have been rare, but it is why I cannot justify a full 5 stars. The pies are AMAZING. Seriously, some of the best pies I have ever had in my life. I've been here four times with family and each time it gets worse. All their food is very obviously frozen food they just throw in the fryer or microwave. Fries are soggy, all meats are tasteless, salad is nothing but iceberg lettuce and not one other vegetable, crouton or cheese, coffee is terrible. The service is also terrible. Don't expect any drinks to be refilled unless you get out of your seat to track down your waiter and ask for a refill or whatever else you need. It took us four visits, but we finally realize this is just how the restaurant operates, and it's not going to get any better. We will not be back. read more

As an Iced tea lover, I love to have it every day with lunch. I have clients in this area and find myself here once a week. Six months ago, I ordered lunch and my usual Iced tea (unsweetened) and almost lost my stomach contents due to the bad taste from a tea holding tank that had not been cleaned and had soured. I brought this to the attention of my server, who totally ignored me and texted on her cell phone. I returned occasionally and had two more bad experiences. The last time, three weeks ago, I talked with a tall blonde haired male manager who tasted the tea, totally agreed with me and said he would fix the problem permanently. I went in this last Thursday and had the same problem. Very sour tea, it turned my stomach so badly that I canceled my order. The waitress (the one who ignored me the first time) offered to get me tea from a different source. I explained how my stomach had turned and left. I was able to eat about an hour later and went to a small bar in Deer Creek who has the courtesy to wash their tea container before they refill it. Would you drink from a dirty glass? Drinking from a tea container that has not been cleaned is very similar. If the help ignores something this simple, how many other food containers are not being cleaned properly? Not going back, I will not give my hard earned money to any business that does not care. I have worked in food service as much of my family has, I am not that hard to please and I ALWAYS TIP AT LEAST 20% OR MORE! I know how hard it is to work in a restaurant. I rarely criticize food service unless it is horrible and repetitive. I called and left a message asking the owner to call me (he is on vacation). He needs to know how his help is running HIS restaurant!! I was asked if I wanted to speak to the manager on duty, but what is the point? Already tried that....... read more

We enjoyed our visit this morning. Good breakfast and great atmosphere. Clean wide walking lanes, perfect for my mom with her walker. Great parking lot for handicapped. The pies are great we grabbed a few slices to eat later on our way out. We had a good breakfast that was not huge. Many places it seems wants to push you to huge breakfast at a higher price. First timer had breakfast before Sunday morning golf and was pleased. I had the Heritage breakfast which is 2 scrambled eggs 4 pieces of bacon and a half order of biscuits and gravy. Service was prompt and friendly considering I was only somewhat responsive nursing a slight hangover. Food came out fast and being a gravy snob I found the biscuits and gravy were up to par top notch. So left full and pleased and would recommend this spot for breakfast. Decent enough for lunch while traveling cross country along 74. Right off the interstate which is nice. Food quality and portion size seems off conpared to other local cafes i frequent. This is a big Cracker Barrel sized newer building so not the quaint corner cafe we were hoping for. We had lunch. Every sandwhich is about 6 or 7 bucks (sandwhich only). $3.95 extra to add fries? Seems a little steep to me. We split the fries to save money - it was probably 15 waffle fries. We had the signature burger. Very good. We had Rons special tenderloin sandwhich. Gigantic! Slightly overcooked but still quite good. Wife had a blt which was just your normal blt on sandwich bread. Very average. We had achocolate creme pie that was very average as well. Bill was $30 with tip for 3 sandwiches, one order of fries, one slice of pie, 3 waters. Not too bad. Not a deal either. read more
