Went to Wildey's on Thursday, April 4, 2024 for lunch. Service as always was very good. My dining companion and I both ordered the 1/2 tenderloin with extra pickles. I had sweet potato fries as a side and he opted for regular fries. The sandwich is well prepared, thick and meaty. These tenderloins are not hammered out to where all you can taste is batter like some places do. The sweet potato fries and sandwich were delicious! Hot and crispy! We were supposed to have six. So, even though they don't normally accept reservations, they did for us the food is much more interesting and more attractive than any diner you will find from Lacon to Princeton. The waitresses were very personable. The place is very cute. I think we were weirder and louder than everybody in Lacon, but everyone, customers included, was very kind. We went there before seeing a show in Henry because RVP doesn't serve dinner at their Friday night show. I wish they were in Princeton because I don't have a lot of reason to go to Lacon. read more

Came with chips or cole slaw, the slaw was good (just a tad sweet). Also ordered a hot roast beef. This was enough for two meals. Tender roast, mashed potatoes, plenty of gravy. So very good! I love their open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, their specialty which is a meaty pork tenderloin sandwich, homemade onion rings, country fried steak and their daily specials (goulash, walleye, catfish, etc). Have been going here for the past several years, and it is well worth the trip. While you can't go wrong with anything they serve, the highlight of their menu it the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. Great breading, and great flavor. The whole sandwich should satisfy your hungriest diners, and the half is a great option for anyone else. If you have any room for dessert, try a chocolate frog. I have eaten twice at this restaurant, a year apart between visits. The first meals were not the greatest. Gave the restaurant a second chance. Still not favorable. Ordered the country fried steak breakfast. The coating tasted like flour, the gravy was bland, the hash browns were burnt and soggy, and the eggs over cooked. If you're looking for fancy this is not the place but if you like good hometown cooking with a friendly, genuine waitress serving the locals this is definitely the place! My spaghetti, garlic bread and salad tasted even better than some five-star restaurants! And my husband's club sandwich was huge-he could only finish half and the fries were perfect.
