I will say they were polite and put our stuff where we told them. However, they damaged TWO of our dressers (took an entire corner off both) and didn't reimburse for either of them. Didn't give a discount, just apologized and charged the full price. Each one of the dressers cost $300.

We personally feel that Lamanna was worth even more than we paid (Important to note that we've moved twice from NYC in the past 5 years, and city prices are very different.) I really thought I'd written this review already, but you know how crazy it can be when you move. I've got specifics about the guys on the crew, but I don't have the notes right now and can't remember, it's just too hectic still. Just know that Lamanna was prompt, careful, friendly, and super helpful. They are *serious* about being a good crew, and we were lucky to be able to book them. Steve was even good enough to help keep me from having a meltdown about a month before our move! I hope to update this later after we've actually settled in better, but honestly, things just keep piling up and I don't know when I'll get to it.

Service was efficient but still very careful to protect our belongings and the safety pf the 5 man crew. Everyone was very professional and our move went off without a hitch. Lamana's knows what they are doing. We packed our personal items, so the crew only had to move the furniture & boxes. They just needed us to direct them as to placement in our new house. In all, the entire process took about 5 hours. We should note my husband is immune compromised and all staff took precautions when it came to pandemic precautions. We are grateful for their professionalism and concern, in this regard. There was a GREAT article about Lamana's in the Albany Times Union on 9/2/20, this is a multigenerational family run business and they deserve the high praise and recognition. I've already passed them on to another friend who will be moving in the near future and to our realtor. I do recommend calling & booking as soon as you have a closing date. We were able to get them within a few days of our closing, but with the good press and so many happy customers, I'd say they're only going to get busier. Great job. Great local business. Can't say enough great things about them.

They told me they were no longer available until September--after my lease is up. They asked me to hold while they checked if something could be done. Naturally, I started freaking the heck out. To add to the stress, I underwent emergency surgery two weeks earlier, and now could not finish packing my apartment. I searched Google reviews for movers who also offered packing services, and reached out to Pony Express right away. I said that my scheduled movers may not be able to move me anymore, and asked about availability. I received a response from Mike almost immediately, who told me he could absolutely help me out before the end of September, and we made plans to communicate the next day. It turns out that my original mover was able to make a miracle happen and I didn't need to use Pony Express after all, but I was so impressed by Mike's service and help. I know that I will be calling them next time I move--which, let's face it, after all this stress, I hope is never.

Great movers. I would use them again in a heartbeat…read more Needed to move. Sales rep came over to the house, scoped it out, gave us a quote. We set up an appointment. The truck and movers showed up on time. Worked hard. Got the job done in the estimated time. Nothing of consequence was damaged. They were careful, efficient, professional and all around nice guys. So, why not give them the extra star? I've got one 5* moving company, and they are in the Bay Area. Sorry, The Ideal Move, in my heart, there can be only one. If, god forbid, I have to move again locally in the Capital District, The Ideal Move will be who I call first.

They…read moredidn't bother wrapping my furniture properly--my couch cushions were literally falling off as they carried it and were put into the truck completely unwrapped. The movers also kept complaining about heavy items, which made the whole process feel uncomfortable and unprofessional. They also caused damage and then tried to hide. They broke a leg off my bed, said nothing, and left the broken leg on the floor under the bed as if I wouldn't notice. They also dropped a fragile box down the stairs and later insisted they "checked everything" and nothing was broken, which was simply untrue. Their solution to fixing the bed was even more unacceptable. They sent someone out to put epoxy on a part that had previously been soldered, which didn't work at all. Now I'm left with a damaged bed, a box of shards of glass that was previously worth hundreds and a terrible overall experience.

These guys were incredibly friendly, cheerful and efficient and went way beyond the call of duty--they were unloading a container box at a flat rate, yet they did extra things that were definitely not within the job description, like moving things into two different buildings and then re-moving some items when we discovered we made a mistake. Bill and Jamie. Be sure to ask for them by name. I have to deduct a star for Clark's front office operation, however. Initially, I really liked the sales team that came and did the estimate. However, they sent a few very unprofessional members to move our apartment and they did not respect our stuff at all. Throwing boxes around, fooling around with our stuff, not taking care for valuable items. We ended up with many damaged items. Also, in agreement with the commenter below, it's very much a bait and switch. As with many movers, they charm you with the initial prices and personality, but they don't represent how the process will go well at all. I was told many times how much space my stuff would take up and then they spread all my stuff out to take up more space and charge me more. My entire apartment fit in 1/2 a small truck (there was another load in there already) and when it arrived at my destination they spread it out into a whole truck worth of space and the last crate has a couple boxes on the floor. No support from their parent company Mayflower either. It sounds like maybe a small move worked for people, but don't trust them with big moves. Their equipment was also old and they don't offer any "extras" included in the deal like boxes, packing supplies, etc. There are so many movers in the area that friends had better luck with, go somewhere else.
