The owner Robert replied almost immediately after I called and texted. It is a very busy season, but they happened to have a cancelation so they were able to squeeze me in upon a very short notice. Robert was very patient. He confirmed several times with me before the moving date and answered my question about fees, which greatly relieved my anxiety. It was a really hot day when I moved and I lived on the fourth floor with no elevator. Robert and his guys completed this hard work in a very short time and a very professional manner. They managed to transport my mattress without smudging it. They also managed to move out my tables (which were obviously wider than my door) without disassembling them. It was impressive! It was great to see my stuff placed in the truck, well-organized and well-protected. They finished all the work in about 2 hours and nothing was damaged. The cost was exactly what they told me beforehand. Thanks to ALM it was a smooth moving. I would recommend them to everyone!

There were two pieces which needed disassembly to get down the stairs. It wasn't bad enough that the stairs were narrow and had a low ceiling but also the landlord thought it was wise to paint the stairwell the day before. Moving can be a time fraught with anxieties about the place and furniture you've come to rely on and care for. Their calm diligence was reassuring from the start. At the house there were many additional boxes that had to go to the second floor and they adapted without pause. Their truck was pristine with everything loaded orderly in it's place so as not to be damaged. You knew that someone who cared that much for the tools of their trade would care for yours as well. These guys were not just professional but true Masters of their Craft. You can't go wrong with Capital Movers.

Texted from a different phone number pretending to get a quote and what do you know, he texts back. Thank god they actually showed up, albeit 15 minutes late. I will say they were polite and put our stuff where we told them. However, they damaged TWO of our dressers (took an entire corner off both) and didn't reimburse for either of them. Didn't give a discount, just apologized and charged the full price. Each one of the dressers cost $300.

We personally feel that Lamanna was worth even more than we paid (Important to note that we've moved twice from NYC in the past 5 years, and city prices are very different.) I really thought I'd written this review already, but you know how crazy it can be when you move. I've got specifics about the guys on the crew, but I don't have the notes right now and can't remember, it's just too hectic still. Just know that Lamanna was prompt, careful, friendly, and super helpful. They are *serious* about being a good crew, and we were lucky to be able to book them. Steve was even good enough to help keep me from having a meltdown about a month before our move! I hope to update this later after we've actually settled in better, but honestly, things just keep piling up and I don't know when I'll get to it.

Service was efficient but still very careful to protect our belongings and the safety pf the 5 man crew. Everyone was very professional and our move went off without a hitch. Lamana's knows what they are doing. We packed our personal items, so the crew only had to move the furniture & boxes. They just needed us to direct them as to placement in our new house. In all, the entire process took about 5 hours. We should note my husband is immune compromised and all staff took precautions when it came to pandemic precautions. We are grateful for their professionalism and concern, in this regard. There was a GREAT article about Lamana's in the Albany Times Union on 9/2/20, this is a multigenerational family run business and they deserve the high praise and recognition. I've already passed them on to another friend who will be moving in the near future and to our realtor. I do recommend calling & booking as soon as you have a closing date. We were able to get them within a few days of our closing, but with the good press and so many happy customers, I'd say they're only going to get busier. Great job. Great local business. Can't say enough great things about them.

These guys were incredibly friendly, cheerful and efficient and went way beyond the call of duty--they were unloading a container box at a flat rate, yet they did extra things that were definitely not within the job description, like moving things into two different buildings and then re-moving some items when we discovered we made a mistake. Bill and Jamie. Be sure to ask for them by name. I have to deduct a star for Clark's front office operation, however. They were the destination warehouse for my Door-to-Door move and several calls to them were not returned. The expeditor told me this is unusual, so hopefully a temporary problem.

Initially, I really liked the sales team that came and did the estimate. However, they sent a few very unprofessional members to move our apartment and they did not respect our stuff at all. Throwing boxes around, fooling around with our stuff, not taking care for valuable items. We ended up with many damaged items. Also, in agreement with the commenter below, it's very much a bait and switch. As with many movers, they charm you with the initial prices and personality, but they don't represent how the process will go well at all. I was told many times how much space my stuff would take up and then they spread all my stuff out to take up more space and charge me more. My entire apartment fit in 1/2 a small truck (there was another load in there already) and when it arrived at my destination they spread it out into a whole truck worth of space and the last crate has a couple boxes on the floor. No support from their parent company Mayflower either. It sounds like maybe a small move worked for people, but don't trust them with big moves. Their equipment was also old and they don't offer any "extras" included in the deal like boxes, packing supplies, etc. There are so many movers in the area that friends had better luck with, go somewhere else.
