I have a recent knee surgery and some other medical issues, and thus I was trying to move on the dance floor to the best of my ability (which is not very much). Staff told me that that wasn't enough to count as dancing, and they kicked me off the dance floor in spite of the fact that I had already paid to be there. My "small moves" weren't causing any problems for anybody, and it is blatantly ILLEGAL to exclude people with disabilities from your establishment or events. read more

I've come here a number of times with friends on girls night. This place is packed every Thursday because of it which makes it pretty fun. My friends and I are amateurs, while everyone else here seems to REALLY know what they are doing. A lot of people here are regulars and while it can be intimidating to try to get on the dance floor, it's definitely cool to see everyone line and swing dance like pros! I suggest coming early for the line dancing lesson if you are a beginner. The instructor is sweet and she walks you through each step and will help you after the lesson if you want additional tips. Another thing, a lot of the guys here give me a bad vibe. Don't get me wrong, I love me some country men, but from stories I've heard, seen and experienced, many of the guys are arrogant or players. read more

This review is based on food alone. I am excited to experiance the country bar atmosphere at some point. I enjoyed the fish and chips. Have gotten it twice. The pork tacos were good, but the pork was shredded in such a way, you could tell it's not slow roasted/fresh. My main issue was the sliders. 2 sliders and coleslaw cost $7.75. Not old did the the price put a bad taste in my mouth, but the meat was hard to swallow as well. Will not order sliders again read more

I will never return to this establishment and I highly discourage anyone to give Bushwackers their business until they train their staff to have better customer service. On April 27th, a group of us celebrating our friend's 30th birthday wanted to celebrate at Bushwackers but was turned away by Jordan because she claimed she saw an open container in the parking lot. There was no open container. She refused to let us in at 4 pm on a Saturday but I guess if Bushwackers chooses to not want business on a slow afternoon, that's their problem. I am mostly dissatisfied with the way Jordan communicated with our group. She was rude, had a bad attitude, couldn't explain herself properly, and unwilling to cooperate with us. I suggest Bushwacker's upper management to go over proper customer service with their employees. Until then, they just lost business from 13 people who are very vocal about spreading the word about our awful customer service last Saturday. read more

I've been to Bushwackers a few times over the years. I remember going a couple of years ago, and the place was packed to overflowing! I went here recently on a Friday night wtih co-workers, and it wasn't nearly as packed. A friend and I got there in time for the 7:30pm two-step dance lesson. This was a lot of fun! The dance floor was big enough to accomodate all the couples taking lessons. I like the fact that you rotate dance partners. The instructor was good and peppered his instruction with humor. As the night wore on, the place remained half-full. By 10:30pm, the place started to empty out. I was a little disappointed by this. I had a couple of White Russians, and the drinks were perfect in strength...I had a Spider shot, my first one ever, and it went down smooth. I ordered a friend the Pendleton and coke, and he said it was pretty strong. I did not order food here, but a friend ordered chicken strips and onion rings. After looking at her plate, it did not appeal to me in the least. If you are looking for a country bar to do the country two-step or country line dance, I recommend this place. Or if you're looking to belly up to a bar where you can order a stiff drink, I recommend this place! read more

Pretty fun place! The tater tots are crispy, ladies night is a hoot! Free for girls and $5 for guys. They must make a killing because there are literally probably 500 people running thru that place on weekends and Thursday's. Drinks aren't very cheap and service is very much so below par. I have never experienced a more rude bouncer and staff. I am from out of town and had an open container I was in the process of throwing away and the bouncer Jason came up to me and told me I can't go in because I was throwing it away because it was in my hand. I was completely sober, I am 24 years old and it was my very first time in Oregon which the rules in my state are very different and they "ban" me from the place for absolutely no reason. I was nothing but respectful and I honestly have never been to a place with employees as rude and agressive as these ones. This is my favorite happy place. FREE dance lessons, great food and good service. Our server checked in with us several times through out the night. The music was good too. We went on a night they had a DJ however I see they have live bands on some nights. Looking forward to out next lesson. * Tip: Before attending a lesson you may find it helpful to search that dance on Youtube. This will give you a picture of what the dance looks like and it makes it easier to follow the instructor at the lesson. You will be ready to hit the dance floor! FUN FUN FUN! read more

Great for dancing and hanging out with friends. The music is good, dance lessons are fantastic (and free!). As a country bar, this is a great place to go and mingle- 5 stars for that! As a restaurant, *maybe* 1 star. The food is okay but the service is always slow. I usually wait more than half an hour for food (on a slow night) and have waited up to an hour and a half. I love coming here and would like to support it more. But I am reluctant to do more than pay a cover when I always get mediocre service. read more

The tap menu is solid (always at least one good IPA), and the steak wrap is probably better than you'd expect -- typically little to no gristle. Wait staff can be slow to get around the dance floor, but they're quick behind the bar, and always friendly. They have free country dancing lessons at 7:30 every evening but Sunday (see schedule on website), and cover starts at 7, so best to get there before then. They get 5 stars from me because it's been consistently enjoyable for more than a year now. read more

The bar staff is bored and clearly couldn't give a crap. I've been here several times and it's the same bored staff and the music is hit or miss in Saturday nights. I tried to order some food last night but couldn't find a server and the female bartender I spoke to (youngish long haired brunette) was pissy and acted is if she couldn't be bothered so we left. I hate that there aren't more options on the West side as I really don't want to have to drive to Dukes when I want to hear country music. We came, we tried to line dance and we congratulated ourselves for just a second...then they added music. Yet in the end it was a good night had by all. Every Thursday night is ladies and they teach a free line dance. I just have to say the gal that teaches these is so dang cute!! She is awesome at what she does. Seriously, if she can get me line dancing she's pure genius. Be warned this place does pack out. Get in early, grab a table and get ready to show your stuff. Because it is ladies night they have really cheap drinks, like $1 beers for ladies. The crowd here is a huge mix of people. We were surrounded by people that knew what they were doing and we were also surrounded by people that were more clueless than us and we all laughed and had a great time. You won't just find big trucks parked in the parking lot. We also saw a Rolls Royce and everything in between. I have not had the food because I assume it's just bar food, which is not my thing. Besides I came to dance and it takes so long to learn that you don't have time to eat anyways. The dance lessons were fun but the service at the bar was depressing! My 3 sister's and I asked the male bartender for 4 shots of a fruity liquor that he informed me they didn't have. Fine, I sweetly smiled and asked him for ideas and he gave me the stankiest RBF and said "I don't know, what do you like?" Obviously, I like fruity shots-be friendly and take clue from your customers! I couldn't help myself after looking at that RBF way too long and asked him "Am I being high-maintenance?" He said, "yeah" OMG I said, "I'm a sweet person, let's be sweet to each other." He didn't give much more affect, but he did bring us our 4 1800 shots with orange slices and cinnamon. This place is so much fun for something out of the ordinary. My friend and I are playing on a saturday night indoor soccer team nearby in Tualatin and it had been a while since i'd been here so we decided to check it out. We've now been back 2 weekends in a row! A few years ago, this place had an older crowd, a lot less line/group dancing and was all about the couples. Now it feels like a much more even mix of people and they play a lot more fun songs to dance to, not just ones you have to already know the steps for. What's also nice are the dance lessons from 7:30-8:30pm. It's $7 for admission for the lessons, $5 if you come after that. the $7 covers your all-night admission as well, which is really nice. The drinks are a lot cheaper than downtown Portland clubs, and the vibe is just so much more relaxed. People come up and ask you to dance, and no one minds when you don't know the moves. The fries are also perfect at midnight when you're sweaty and starving from dancing all night and just need something to soak up some alcohol. read more

Showed up at 6:05 for dinner with my son and waited 10 min for someone to help (after I got up looking for someone). They said minors had to be gone by 7 but we had time to eat. Ordered two appetizers and drinks immediately. Brought the wrong beer but kept it anyway. We asked at 6:55 where the food was (40 min after ordering) and they checked and brought it to us in to go boxes saying we had to leave now and gave us a full bill for it all. We told them that we refused to pay for the food given the circumstances. They said they'd check with the manager and left, taking the food with them, but never came back. 10 min later at 7:10 we went into the bar and stood there for 5 more minutes waiting for someone to help us and eventually they came over and said we didn't have to pay for any of it. Maybe it was just a bad server experience but there was hardly anyone there and never once did the manager check on things. That was the first and last time I'll go there. read more

You gotta love Bushwhackers. I have been going every Thursday night for the past 4 years and I wouldn't want it any other way. Ladies Night is for ages 21-30's (ISH). I mean I have gone with my parents before on a Thursday night and they loved it. But I feel that most 50 year olds would think it was a little too rowdy for their weekday night. If you are looking for a highschool/college reunion, then go on down to Bush. You'll see at least 5 people you know throughout the night. And you are bound to see at least one person make a fool out of themselves from the drunkness that Bush brings on. The bartenders are fantastic. The drinks are strong and the food is to die for (I don't think I have ever been sober while stuffing down a Bush meal, but nevertheless). I have only been the Bushwhackers on a weekend night a couple of times, but the weekend nights definitely aren't as rowdy as Ladies Night. On Friday's they have a live band play, who usually plays fun covers and all that. But the crowd is a bit older (35-70s). But it is still a blast! Anyone making a night out of Bush is there to have a good time! read more

Food was gross. Service awful. People rude. Rubbery mystery meat in 'chicken quesadilla' with not fresh cooked bacon but pebble hard bacon bits from a can cost $11. Tacos weren't great either. The only safe thing to eat was the fries. Waitress did not hear correct order. Then took my credit card because she wanted to put a hold on it, even though I said I would be paying cash. Her excuse was "people walk out without paying" not sure if that is true here or because our group was a minority among predominately white crowd. She took forever to come back for us to pay out and then said she needed a manager to get me a receipt because she already closed the register and said she couldn't do it.  Thursday night ladies night. Door guy tried to charge us ladies $5 cover although ladies are free. Later, I got kicked on dance floor. A drunk big beefy guy wanted to start a fight with my friend because someone stepped on his shoe. Got really crowded after 10 pm and started to feel like a frat party so we all left. I recently moved to Portland and was on the hunt for a good country bar, and rather than drive out to Duke's, some friends and I ended up here. After reading some of the reviews, I was a little worried, but it was honestly an okay night. Get there early to learn the dances if you don't already know 'em, otherwise you'll be stuck on the sidelines. Also, don't overdress. The cool thing about this place is the fact it's super casual. I was a little over dressed, but it's good to know I can go back in a tank top, jeans, and boots next time. Overall, it's a cool place with a laid back atmosphere and a $5 cover. read more

Me and my fiance were in town from Seattle for a Saturday night "Date night" away from the rest of the world, we came all the way from Seattle. We stayed at the Century Hotel in Tualatin and while at the restaurant we asked where we could find something fun to do. The immediate response was "Go to Bushwhackers!" we were told that they have line dancing lessons from 7:30pm to 8:30pm (if I remember right) and that it is a great venue. We went immediately and boy were the folks at the restaurant right. The place was packed and the music was great. The bartenders were all very friendly and accomodating and all the people at the bar seemed to be down to earth AWESOME people. What a great choice! We tried to learn how to line dance...Tried! It was our first time so we didnt do so hot, but we have a reason to go back now. We would absolutely recommend this place to anybody! What an amazing find! read more

Been going there for years. Just not the same place anymore. Happy hour prices have taken big increases. Examples: lemon drop martinis up 25% and chicken strips up 40%. This place is a joke. So dumb we will never be back. The door man wouldn't let me friend who is obviously of age in the bar because her license is expired! It is not the bars responsibility to enforce the law of the land. It is above their pay grade to worry about whether someone is breaking the law or not. My friend drove from Gresham just to get turned away. So frustrating. Also, they play late 80's country but the talking in the bar is so loud you can't even hear the music. The drinks sucked, my other friend had to send 2 drinks back, they got our order incorrect for our dinner and several of our party sent their food back. It was a terrible experience. Younger girl on the bar seemed like we were inconveniencing her conversation with her coworker when we asked for help. Had to flag her down after waiting for 5 minutes. My friends told me about this place and said that it would be perfect for me. At first I was a bit skeptical but after going I was totally hooked. I love the entire atmosphere and the people. Everyone there is very friendly and is a great place to meet new people. They line dancing is also great, the teachers are awesome and they teach the best dances. I've brought some friends before who don't like to dance but they absolutely love to get into the line dances here. I'm not a regular but every time I go I meet new people all the time and every time I go back I will see them again or I will meet all new people. Its a great place and I think everyone should experience it at least once. I like to go on Thursday nights because it's Ladies Night and beer is $1 so you can't go wrong with that. As a regular I can say with absolute certainty that this is the best place around! The staff is always friendly, even the newbies who we tend to put through the ringer. From the bouncers, to the wait staff, to the DJ,,,all are top notch! Drinks are reasonably priced...especially Thursday nights..at least for the ladies. You can't beat $1 beer! The food is great, I prefer the nachos or my new favorite, Fish and Chips. My only complaint would have been the dance floor, but they are fixing that! Line dance lessons and Partner dance lessons throughout the week make it easy to learn so you can get out there and dance. I knew nothing when I first started coming, but now I can actually dance a few. Pay attention to dance floor etiquette...that one is a biggy! read more

It has been said that all good things must come to an end; but Bushwhackers is neither good nor coming to an end soon enough. Years from now when this bar finally goes under, patrons may remember it for its crowded Ladies Nights and faux-western atmosphere. But reminiscing over the good times this dumpster fire of a restaurant brought for its guests is atrocious. Now I am not a country boy. But I was curious about Bushwhacker's for a long time. I went in last spring (09) and I was impressed. First off, there is lot's to look at there; memerabilia, collectables, and pretty girls. I know they didn't look my way because I wore Kachi's but there was a lot of eye candy. Additionally the Happy Hour was G-R-E-A-T! A $4 burger and fries, a good one too! And $2 pints. I had a great meal and two beers and a tip for $10 even. I went late one night to see the line dancing and girls (again). What a great crowd. All having fun, no gang bangers, all the smoking is outside now, it was really a fun night.
