Roll - crunchy crust...really soft and pillowey inside.   Yummy. Butter glazed I think  Now for the star... the Chicken Crust is crispy and crunchy.  The batter is seasoned.  The chicken is juicy and hot, even after a 15 minute drive. On our cross country road trip we happened upon Bush's Chicken.... We thought we would give it a try since we're always on the lookout for some tasty fried chicken. The girls liked their chicken sandwiches, French fries, and sweet tea, and my son and I liked the tenders (especially since they come with gravy for dipping). The pepper poppers are pretty darn tasty, too. Honey, hot sauce, and catsup are all on the tables, so that makes things easy. Unfortunately, the service isn't the best. There weren't many customers in the place (one other table of two), and the drive-thru was slow, but the four girls working kinda called out to us as food and drink items were ready so we could walk up and get them. Might have been nice to have them delivered to our table since they were just kinda hanging out behind the counter. The restaurant is pretty clean, as are the restrooms. The food was good enough that we might give Bush's another try if we come upon one again sometime. read more

Only in Texas...Bush's Chicken was our lunch stop in Fort Stockton while driving from El Paso to San Antonio. Since I was tired of the usual fast food eateries, Bush's Chicken was an easy choice for us. They are a Texas chain with locations only in Texas that serves up big and tasty pieces of plain fried chicken. They don't need to use 11 herbs and spices like their competitor. Nor, do they have a spicy version of their chicken unless you add hot sauce to it. They kind of reminded me like Church's Fried Chicken before Church's started offering a spicy fried chicken. Their rolls that comes with the chicken are buttery and addicting. The employees were friendly. One of the employees told me after I picked up my order that if I didn't like it, they would give me a refund. I liked it. Bush's Chicken was a good stop for a quck lunch. If you happen to get tired of waiting a millennial for your chicken at KFC then come on over to Bush's expensive Chicken store. At least you get fresh chicken here and in a timely matter but be prepared to pay double oh and I forgot to mention they sell too as well. I usually get the three piece dinner for $10 gasp! But at least you have a good selection of seasonings on the table waiting for you and even a half smile at the counter. If you can get over the boyfriend and girlfriend at the counter kissing and feeling on each other while you are trying to mind your own business then you've got it licked, I'm pretty sure the manager know since he's walking around all the time but you're here to eat right? Just consider it a sideshow and move on. The place is clean as well as the restrooms unless it gets busy then it might be a different story but three out of the four times I've been here it has been pretty much quiet so everybody else must have died waiting for their chicken at that other place and did not make it here, rest in peace. Parking is ample and you do not have to dodge falling signs here, only wish there were falling prices but we'll see how that goes. read more

So not only was this a true "nostalgia" for me- my grandparents use to go every Sunday in Waco, Tx & towards the later years, I was able to be with them & have those memories! I door dashed a large buffalo fries to me and they nearly put any friends for a large and they only put about 4 little cubes of chicken in it. Then it looked and tasted like they put the whole bottle of buffalo sauce on them so they were soggy. This chicken place is located on a very large road (for this area) that has many hotels and motels. The chicken is very good, fresh, crispy and moist & tender inside. The sides were very small, almost like something they would give you just to try it. But those rolls were very good. I ate here twice the day I was in Ft Stockton back in the spring. It is very expensive. The staff was friendly and there was an older guy there that was probably owner or manager, he was checking on customers. The place was very clean, and new, I think it had just opened. If I was passing through again I would stop again. read more

What a great place! We stopped in here and the food was amazing but even more so was the service. Everyone was super nice and cheerful. The manager was awesome! Most unexpected Blessing Traveling back from my friends Memorial service in New Mexico, we stopped in Ft. Stockton to get gas and get a McDonalds. Forgot it was Thanksgiving, so no one was open. We saw a Bushes chicken with parking lot full of cars, so we pulled in. The owner was serving the best Thanksgiving dinner for tips to anyone who came in. Passing through town and was struggling to find a place with decent reviews to grab a bite to eat. Ended up going to Bush's as the reviews seemed relatively high. The chicken was undercooked and some pieces extremely pink, the gravy lacked much flavor and the fries were soggy after driving two minutes to my hotel. Ended up throwing the food away and going to sonic across the street and getting hot crispy popcorn chicken. Disappointed in the waste of money at an expensive place. Absolutely worst service ever. Young woman acted put out that I had walked in, she was too busy talking with another young woman and an older woman, on the customer side of the counter, apparently not customers. The Bush employee acted rude to me, inpatient and down right mean. She wasn't listening to what I wanted, we had eaten there often until today. Not anymore. I asked her questions which she ignored until after she rang up my order. Chicken for 2 people shouldn't be $38. When I questioned why, because it had never cost nearly that much, (We also get exactly the same order, food for two, no drinks) so when I questioned her why it's so high her response was fine, I will ring it up again, but it will be higher! So I told her she could keep it and left it with her. We lost our appetite to ever eat at one of the Bush's fried Chicken restaurants again. We use to enjoy picking up chicken there, in the past one of the owners had taken our order and he was very polite and cared about customer service. We will take our $ elsewhere and I will no longer suggest Bush's Chicken to others. Fort Stockton offers other better dining experiences! read more
