Not too busy...

On our cross country road trip we happened upon Bush's Chicken.... We thought we would give it a try since we're always on the lookout for some tasty fried chicken. The girls liked their chicken sandwiches, French fries, and sweet tea, and my son and I liked the tenders (especially since they come with gravy for dipping). The pepper poppers are pretty darn tasty, too. Honey, hot sauce, and catsup are all on the tables, so that makes things easy. Unfortunately, the service isn't the best. There weren't many customers in the place (one other table of two), and the drive-thru was slow, but the four girls working kinda called out to us as food and drink items were ready so we could walk up and get them. Might have been nice to have them delivered to our table since they were just kinda hanging out behind the counter. The restaurant is pretty clean, as are the restrooms. The food was good enough that we might give Bush's another try if we come upon one again sometime.

Only in Texas...Bush's Chicken was our lunch stop in Fort Stockton while driving from El Paso to San Antonio. Since I was tired of the usual fast food eateries, Bush's Chicken was an easy choice for us. They are a Texas chain with locations only in Texas that serves up big and tasty pieces of plain fried chicken. They don't need to use 11 herbs and spices like their competitor. Nor, do they have a spicy version of their chicken unless you add hot sauce to it. They kind of reminded me like Church's Fried Chicken before Church's started offering a spicy fried chicken. Their rolls that comes with the chicken are buttery and addicting. The employees were friendly. One of the employees told me after I picked up my order that if I didn't like it, they would give me a refund. I liked it. Bush's Chicken was a good stop for a quck lunch. No refund required.

Ordered 6 piece tender. Got 4.5 pieces . Plus a $5 tip for shitty meal. I hope they see this review.

$10 for this, it was okay but not for $10

If you happen to get tired of waiting a millennial for your chicken at KFC then come on over to Bush's expensive Chicken store. At least you get fresh chicken here and in a timely matter but be prepared to pay double oh and I forgot to mention they sell too as well. I usually get the three piece dinner for $10 gasp! But at least you have a good selection of seasonings on the table waiting for you and even a half smile at the counter. If you can get over the boyfriend and girlfriend at the counter kissing and feeling on each other while you are trying to mind your own business then you've got it licked, I'm pretty sure the manager know since he's walking around all the time but you're here to eat right? Just consider it a sideshow and move on. The place is clean as well as the restrooms unless it gets busy then it might be a different story but three out of the four times I've been here it has been pretty much quiet so everybody else must have died waiting for their chicken at that other place and did not make it here, rest in peace. Parking is ample and you do not have to dodge falling signs here, only wish there were falling prices but we'll see how that goes.

Not sure on taste haven't tried it yet. I'm hopeful. Yet, hygiene was my first observation and a clear concern. Young woman was mopping floors, sweeping and then went straight to serving food. Asked manager if she was going to wash-up. She did, yet I heard her say "why". Dear Lordy, this is kinda scary.

I was pleasantly surprised how good this chicken is, your biscuits are great, the gravy not so much, the gravy I've had better elsewhere, but overall I would definitely come back

Very disappointed, low quality food. Have been driving for miles and miles from California. Decided to stop here and try this. Chicken is pale af, fries are ok, gravy (no flavor). The strawberry Fanta tasted like cherry candy but no carbonation. Come on guys, step it up, change the menu or something, almost 10 dollars for a 4 piece tender meal. The service was good though. The food was not.yall need a new menu!

I ordered a chicken pot pie meal and the young man just could not get it. I had to repeat it slowly 3 times pointing at the picture and then he said it was their last one so I said fine. Wife went to the bathroom to wash up and no soap. I went to go as I just recovered from colon cancer and the cook beat me to it, he never came out. After about 15 minutes I walk back up and ask for the meal and the kid slurred it's coming out and the place was now filling up. We finally get the pie and it was sunken, dry and looked like crap. We tried to eat a little bit but the taste was not right. As we were walking out to go elsewhere we see some locals who they knew and low and behold, two fresh looking raised chicken pot pies that looked delicious. I never got to use the restroom as the cook never came out. Poorly ran place to pass up and not stop at. The girl running the register had an inability to communicate and screwed up the order so much that I gave up on trying to get it right. I should've walked out so shame on me. Fort Stockton has a reputation for crappy service but man this KFC works very hard to have the worst service in town. And not to mention, the chicken tasted like someone emptied out a salt shaker in the batter. Horrible. I'll be throwing it out to the feral hogs this morning and I hope it doesn't tick them off. It's pretty bad.

It was a bizarre experience on multiple levels. I saw a sign about Sonic off of the highway. What's annoying is that the fast food joint is actually a few miles down rather than being right off of the highway. Not off to a good start. Ambiance (4/5): Sonic has the old school drive in diner vibe which is cool. A blast from the past. I used the drive through to place my order. Service (1/5): This is where things got weird. I placed my order and the amount I was quoted seemed a bit high. When I paid, I wasn't given a receipt. They also didn't give me my change. I have never seen that happen at a fast food restaurant. I should have said something, but I was tired and decided to let it fly. I'm not saying this is happening, but it's a possibility. For customers paying cash, maybe they overcharge a few dollars. Plus keep the change. And put something else in the computer so that the employees can cheat everyone out of a couple bucks. That multiplies after some time. Maybe it was an honest mistake. Just a bit shady. Drinks (N/A): I had a drink in my car, so I passed, but typically, getting a drink is a must at Sonic. Some of the best drinks in fast food. They're known for their slushes and cherry limeades. Next time around. Food (4/5): I ordered the mozzarella sticks (medium), fries with groovy sauce, and a corn dog. A dinner of champions. Not many fast food joints have mozzarella sticks so that was nice. For fast food, the mozzarella sticks were quite good. Nice pull factor on the cheese. And marinara sauce for dipping. I didn't know what groovy sauce was but I rolled with it. It's essentially a thousand island sauce. It may be an upcharge (I don't know 100% because I didn't receive my receipt). If that's the case, a little weird because sauces are pretty much always free at fast food restaurants. Last but not least, the corn dog was solid too. Not something you typically see on a fast food menu either. It made me feel like I was at the rodeo. All of the food seemed pretty fresh (and not sitting under a heat lamp for a while as you'll get with some fast food). While the food was pretty solid given the circumstances, the service left a lot to be desired.

If I could rate this establishment zero stars for customer service, I would…read more My husband and I walked in to order two meatball subs. At the time, we were the only customers waiting to be helped. The two employees working were making bread and chatting about their personal lives. After waiting about three minutes, a small petite girl (no name tag) came over, visibly annoyed, and said, "What do you want?" I politely responded, "How's your day going?" She replied "Good," with no eye contact and no further engagement, and just waited for me to order. I ordered two meatball subs -- one with extra cheese and both with extra sauce. She only put extra sauce on one and made the other regular. She asked if I wanted them toasted; I said yes. She never acknowledged the missing extra sauce on the second sub. She stepped away and another employee, Adrian, took over. I again politely asked, "How's your day going?" He responded, "Good, what do you want on the subs?" with a dismissive tone. I asked if I could get a side of marinara sauce. He said yes. When he finished wrapping the order, he asked his coworker (petite girl) for a side of marinara. She responded with attitude, saying, "Ew, why would you ask me to do that?" He then turned to me and said, "Sorry, we don't have any more." That response was dishonest and unprofessional. After paying, we sat down to eat. Shortly after, another employee came in -- possibly a lead or manager (taller woman). At that point, Adrian and the petite employee began openly talking badly about a coworker named Iris. They joked about how customers "walk all over her" and Adrian said, "I'd like a customer to try me on the wrong day," followed by laughter. The petite employee also mocked a Spanish-speaking family Iris had tried to help, making fun of both the customers and her coworker. It was disappointing and shameful to witness that level of immaturity and lack of professionalism. Extra sauce is not the real issue here -- it's the attitude, disrespect, and open mockery of both customers and fellow employees. That kind of behavior is completely uncalled for. hope management addresses this, because no customer should be treated that way.

However, the real problem was the way the food was served. All I've ever ordered at SUBWAYs across the country was a Beast Protein Bowl and they've always sliced up the meats. This one was just a pile of whole slices with the melted cheese glueing it all together in a large mass. Makes it pretty hard to eat with a fork right? So I ask for a knife and was told they don't carry them. So I asked them why they didn't slice it since I can't even do it myself. She said they don't slice it. I guess I can see why management would want to keep her away from sharp objects.

He said well we close in 5 minutes, but we told them we ordered 15 minutes before and have been waiting the entire time. He said he could do a refund, but struggled at the drive-thru computer. When we asked why we were able to put in an order if they were closed, the employee said "we have school kids." We told him we had kids as well but if they're open until 12AM, they should have been able to get our order. The employee told us "no, we have school age kids working here." If they're open until 12 am and have school aged kids working till midnight, that's the manager's wrong. Don't schedule kids or employees that close your restaurant early or reflect your store hours to closing early to accommodate your kid-employees. Also, if having school-aged employees was the issue, that excuse may have made more sense if it wasn't Saturday night. Neither employee, if they were even school-aged minors, had school on Sunday that would have made it "necessary" to close early. Called customer service who said a report would be submitted. But in wasting time with this mess, all other restaurants in the area closed and we were unable to get food for 3 hours. Beyond disappointed. Shame on them.

For me, I'm a little ambivalent about Carl's Jr. It's about in the middle for me. I do like their commercials though. This time around, I went with the chargrilled chicken sandwich (swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and mayo) combo with waffle fries. The waffle fries are an upcharge and are only available in a medium size, not large. I'll take waffle fries over regular fries any day of the week, even for a small upcharge. The chicken wasn't bad. It was charred nicely. The bacon was a little limp, but overall, it did the job. I enjoyed the waffle fries the best. They were fresh. They had not been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time which is always a risk at a fast food joint. For what it is, Carl's Jr. makes for a decent late night selection when you're on the road.
