I am surprised of the low rating for this McDonalds but for me it definitely was a 5 star restaurant. First while traveling on a several week vacation in our RV there are two important places you look for on your trip Walmart and McDonalds if these two businesses are available you are in luck. Food is as you'd expect but it's the staff that make this place 5 stars. They were so helpful and friendly when my 6 year old daughter was looking for a specific happy meal toy. Went out of their way to track one down and bring to our table. Made her night. Also has a great play place and some cute computer game stations. We have travelled this country far and wide . . . Both individually and with two humans under the age of 11. We can say, with no hesitation whatsoever, that this morning at 10:45 am, this McDonalds produced the best buttermilk crispy chicken sandwich ever made by a McDonalds employee. Crispy. Yes, it was delightfully crispy. Juicy. Perfect amount of lettuce, tomatoes and Mayo. Since this sandwich is the most edible thing on the menu, we have consumed them everywhere. Placed a curbside order on my last trip through Fort Stockton. (We make the same trip every 6-9 weeks.) Waited almost 30 minutes. It was over 100° and I couldn't go in with my dog, nor would I leave him alone in the hot car. I called, repeatedly, without an answer. Food finally came out. Cold and incomplete. Stayed at a nearby hotel and came here before an early appointment because they were the only place open early. Arrived a little before their posted opening time of 5:30am. At 5:30am I went to the front of the store and they were still not open. I waited in my car and watched probably a dozen vehicles come by and attempt to either go inside or go through the drive thru with no luck. Finally, around 5:45am someone casually came over and unlocked the door. Crazy! I understand if a restaurant has trouble opening on time once or twice but this seems to be a reoccurring habit. If you are in a rush don't count on this place to be open on time. In Texas it's so hot when children go into the play place they turn into chicken nuggets. This is one location that understands the concept of desert heat and had an air conditioned indoor play area. Cowboy hats off to the architect! This Micky D's is very new, clean, modern and has room for big trucks! Conveniently located off the I-10 you can get food and go quickly. The few employees the did have their masks on did not have them over their nose and this includes managers. When we confronted one of the managers he assured us that everyone was wearing a mask and we started pointing out employees that were not wearing masks. Ordered at kiosk, but we wanted to pay at the counter to make a change on beverage because coffee wasn't listed as a drink option for the meal we wanted. We stood at the cash registers for a good bit while the manager and employees glanced up but weren't bothered to ask if we needed help. There was a line, but everyone went to the machines when no one came to the registers. Finally, we asked one of the workers for help and after explaining our situation, she just said that none of the cash registers were working and that we needed to re-input our order without offering any help. We stepped to the side trying to figure out what to do next when the guy behind us in line stepped forward, she immediately took his order even though she had just told us none of the cash registers were working. One star only bc the gentleman handing out orders during the morning shift was nice and how do you miss up McDonald's breakfast. Stopped by again on our way through town for lunch and the service and food was dismal. So for breakfast I walked over from the motel for a grab and go, and on the second time parked in the parking lot and ate inside - cheese and rice it is disgusting and depressing. You will be stepping in something when getting into or out of your vehicle. Disgusting but not as bad as the chevron station across the way. Yeah you guys don't get a lot of rain but do something every once in while? You have the screens at this location so ordering is pretty straightforward. You get the cups with the meal twenty minutes later - I don't understand this even after asking kindly, especially in the desert when it's a hundred plus degrees. You next figure out the ketchup dispenser isn't working and then you will be ignored by the staffing to only get packets they had to go find somewhere else in the back?! Food surprising is not even hot after waiting all that time and there is more sauce on the burgers than meat. Like where the h e double hockey sticks did the meat go??? Doesn't matter if this is a corporate problem bc this is a major problem. Also the soda machines were off. No Coke Zero and regular and diet mixture was way off. The tea has these weird "best by" dates that only tell me how old it is lol. Ft. Stockton is just rough and if you want to avoid being depressed for sure don't eat inside and maybe just skip this McDonald's in general. Would do breakfast again but for sure not anything else. Living in this town this is pretty much the only good fast food. Everytime i drive thru in my truck nobody takes my order, while i watch people pull up in the next lane and order right away. They always seem to mess something up.. from forgetting straws, upcharging you when u ordered the reg size, running out of items, missing food, half empty french fry orders, or stale coffee (taste like an ash tray) but for the most part, the Food is reg mcdonalds quality.. My parents' vacation food is either a $2 Subway sandwich or a $1 McDonald's McChicken. McDonald's was a little closer so we picked up McChicken sandwiches here for lunch. The parking lot was huge and the restaurant was packed. There was even a line to the women's restroom. (This was on the Sunday afternoon of Thanksgiving weekend.) Unlike the Austin McDonald's locations, this Fort Stockton one did not have the Spicy McChicken. It only had the regular flavor. This McDonald's is very convenient to I-10. It's also close to Fort Stockton's main artery Dickinson Rd. I'd happily stop by again. read more
