Awesome trails and beautiful falls. It was a perfect day for hiking the trails. Very well kept and marked. Took us exactly 2 hours to do the red trail. They have benches to sit on along the trails. Lots of parking space. One advice to give is, please buy your tickets online to save time. There was a long line when we went to buy tickets at the booth. There are nice picnic benches as well, so if you want you can pack your lunch with you. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing trip. They also have ice cream, funnel cake, chocolates etc. read more

We hike a lot and are always interested in new and interesting locations. Bushkill Falls was a location I became aware of a few years ago, but never had the opportunity to visit. I am so disappointed I didn't try it sooner, as it was absolutely amazing. I have never had an outdoor experience quite like this one and, while the photos you see online are beautiful, they do not do this location justice. You simply have to see it in person to understand why I make this statement. We arrived on an overcast day, which made traversing the bridges very enjoyable. The trails are well-marked and well-maintained, the facilities are spotless, and the staff and patrons and courteous and polite. I know some mention the entry price, but the land is privately owned. Once you see the property, you will be able to understand that there is a lot of maintenance and upkeep to keep it amazing, so your entry fee probably helps with that. We brought two friends with us who also absolutely loved it. A few pieces of advice: the red trail lets you see everything and it is easy to make a loop, so if you hike often, this is what I recommend. It was not as strenuous for us as some report, but there are a lot of stairs and ups-and-downs, so be aware of your abilities. I would also recommend getting there early. We arrived for opening. By the time we left, it was getting crowded out in the lot. From what I understand, online tickets do not guarantee parking, so this is another reason to arrive early. All in all, this was beautiful and amazing. We intend to come back much more often, especially in the fall during the foliage. Highly-recommended. read more

The views were breathtaking and out of this world with not that many people crowding it. The different paths are easy to identify and they are safe to take with up to date steps. The staff member giving me my ticket was a little moody and didn't seem to thrilled to be working at Bushkill but I didn't let that affect my mood. Lovers nook was so cute with everyones names and relationship dates carved to be remembered. Took my 12 yr old daughter with me this morning to hike the red trail. Yes, its difficult at times, but we made it within 2 hours. The trails are well kept, and the falls are simply marvelous. Do come early in the morning because it gets crowded very quickly. We arrived at 9:35, and there were barely any people. As we walked along, we started to see more people by 11. When we left the parking lot at 11:50, there was a long long line for people trying to get in. read more

This is an absolute must if you are in the area! If you have children, they offer enough to spend a half day enjoying a variety of activities. Best of all, the activities are reasonably priced! Bushkill Falls offers a playground and picnic area to use for free. There is a pond to fish in and a pond to paddle boat in ($5 per person, ages 3+). Next to the paddle boat area is a small but decent mini golf area (also $5 I believe). There is a maze and mining area ($8-12) for children. There is a gift shop, snack bar, vending machines, an outfitters store and a candy shop. There is a pretty large covered picnic/rest area next to the gift shop. The main event is of course the falls ($15 per person). There are several trails with varying degrees of difficulty. However, understand even to see the main falls requires stepping down and eventually climbing back up many, many stairs. The stairs are well maintained but given the natural terrain they are steep and unevenly spaced. The red trail is the toughest and longest by far. I would not recommend taking small children or anyone not in decent physical shape on the red trail. It covers a lot of area and includes stairs, bridges, rocks and tree root filled paths. It's not easy but is very beautiful and rewarding to complete. I completed one loop of the red trail along with some of the yellow. With stops to enjoy the views it took around 3 hours to walk 5.5 miles. Also, something to keep in mind is that cell phone service drops off completley as soon as you enter the area. If you buy the $3 trail map you also get a punch card. As you walk around the trails there are letter posts that correspond to your card. After 10, 15, 20 letters punched you can turn in your card for a monthly drawing to win prizes. Fun bonus! read more

The falls were gorgeous as always. The trails were clean and they ranged in difficulty. The entrance fee was about $19 for an adult, which can get quite expensive if you have a few people with you. Everything there costs money. They had a little mining activity that was over $10 and a small maze that was also in that price range. It's not enough that they are profiting off of nature, they had to find a way to put a price tag on simple little activities as well! The food was terrible and overpriced as well. The trails were overcrowded and narrow, especially on the many staircases, which can be dangerous. I went on a Saturday. I would advise that you try going during the week when the crowds aren't there. read more

We've discovered bushkill falls a couple years back when we were camping by a site near by but never had a chance to visit . Also known as the niagara falls of Philadelphia . So since my family and stepdaughter were visiting for the summer we decided to do a camping trip and we picked a campsite that was closed by . The smell of nature's when you first enter the trail is oh so relaxing . You can just set your mind free . Seeing them waterfalls was just beautiful . We did the yellow trail which is the known as the popular trail because thats where the main waterfall sit . We also brought our dogs during this trip and boy let me tell you it was a horrible experience due to my male pitbull who's has a bad leg . So be prepared , put on your sneakers or hiking shoes because these trails has steep stairways and you'll get tired . I have health issues so everytime I climb these stairs I have to take a break . The tickets price is about 15$ so make your money worth while you're there. There's different trails you can do but most of them are pretty short except for one which is the red one I believed , runs over an hour long and all the trails runs into eachother . I had a great time but next time I go , I'll try to do all the trails I've missed and not bring my pets again . read more

Ummmm sorry, but if u lived in a desert like California then maybe you would appreciate this place for all it is & proudly pay the $11 entrance fee to enable the continuity of diligent care that goes into the safety and cleanliness of Bushkill Falls. The organization for this attraction is well thought out. There are three different trails w/ an estimate of time, distance, and level of difficulty for you to choose from. There are trails marked with more than bread crumbs that are extremely safe and easy to follow. The waterfalls are named and numbered to facilitate recognition and prevent omission. The waterfalls aren't shy as they welcome you right from the start. There are bridges made of tree branches that allow awesome views of important points without making the experience feel man made. The air is clean, the sound of the water streaming down the rocks is so soothing, and there are even waterfalls you can walk up & under. This is one for your bucket list, just saying. Recommendations: 1. Water proof hiking shoes. 2. Porta-potties 3. The girls in the ice cream shop should consider working on their happy faces. The Bushkills Falls are located in the Pocono Mountains and includes a network of 8 different waterfalls. Visitors can pay the $10 entrance fee to get access to the trails and bridges around the falls. There are 3 different trail options, the longest and most rigorous being the "Red Trail," which is a 2.5 mile course which will afford you a view of each of the waterfalls and provide you with an active and at times strenuous hike. The hike itself isn't too demanding, but the waterfall banks are overbuilt by wooden bridges and steep stairs that can be a bit treacherous if you're not paying attention, especially along the Red Trail course. Even though, the day was hot (it was 86 with a gajillion percent humidity), the hike was mostly pleasant since the trails are all heavily shaded. The only downside here is that, it was quite crowded. It was Memorial Day, and we did arrive at a peak hour (12:45pm), so we did know to expect crowds and I'm assuming that on a regular weekend day, it wouldn't be that bad. I will say that most of the time, the crowds weren't really an issue. It did get tight trying to pass through some of the more narrow bridges, but it wasn't such a problem that it took away from the overall experience. Visitors are allowed to bring their own food and drink into the waterfalls area. So we brought plenty of bottled water and packed sandwiches for our day. There are several benches located throughout the trails and we also saw several families stop and sit on the rocks at the lower banks to have their picnic lunches.We wanted to eat by one of the waterfalls so we didn't have anywhere to sit, but it was still very pleasant. The waterfalls and trails are walled off from the rest of the park. So you actually have to pay your fee and walk through a building to enter the falls area. The upside to this is that if waterfalls or hiking aren't your thing, you can always just spend time in the main park area. You can rent paddleboats or play mini-golf, or you can just grab a table under the pavilion and cook delicious foods on one of the many grills. I had been wanting to see Bushkill Falls for some time and it was definitely worth the trip out there. It's about a 2 hour drive from Philadelphia, but it's a beautiful place - super peaceful, lush and green. Even with the drive, the crowds, and heat, I'd still be down for a return trip. I went on a Wednesday when the news called for possible rain. Made the almost three hour drive to get there and to my delight, there was barely anyone here. I had concerns because the knocks against Bushkill Falls was that it was always crowded (I understand why... It's gorgeous). I saw complaints about price but seriously, $12.50 for the level of maintenance that place must require is a bargain. Not once while on the bridges did I feel like they were going to come apart. It's more like a combination of theme park and hike, but most of it is NOT hiking in the traditional sense. Most is along a series of bridges and walkways but the path to other falls is off of the main route and does involve a little effort. Definitely worth my drive, money and time. Beautiful but pricey! There is a $17 admission charge in order to enter the area where the falls are located. Other than the falls, there is a snack stand, sweets shop, a few other shops, and a picnic area. Gorgeous falls with four maintained trails for walking, ranging from easy to difficult, but nothing too advanced. The longest trail was about an hour, not 2.5 as advertised. We completed all trails in about 2 hours, at a leisurely pace. read more

I would give this place ten stars for natural beauty alone but the amount of tourists in this place is just ridiculous. If I wanted to go to Disney and not a hike I would. Make sure you go very early to avoid the bus loads of tourists that come midday. My four year old had no problem hiking the hardest trail. There were tons of activities for kids in the area of that is what you are looking for (mini golf, boats, fishing, maze, playground). You can easily spend the day. Bring your own food for a picnic or use their grills for a bbq. JUST GO EARLY!!! read more

I love it for what it is, Its more of an organized park with lots of stairs and not a real seriously intense hardcore dirt trail type of hike.The long walk from several medium to smallish sized falls is charming and enchanting! This place is great for those people who like the trail pretty cleclearly laid out for them. Be prepared however to go up and down a lot of wooden stairs. I wouldn't wear sandals or flip flops.Wear closed toed shoes with gripping tread. Not good for the feeble or poorly sighted. You need strong ankles for all those stairs. Very small children or those not used to long walks may get cranky abut walking after a while. You'll get a good healthy workout by the end of the large loop hike. The stairs and pathways work nicely with the scenery and don't detract from it. They are carefully and tastefully worked into the landscape. This place is especially good if you are new to or unused to nature because the trails are easy to follow for the most part. The only part that I found gets a little confusing is on one part of the large loop trial. There the path turns to dirt briefly through some trees for a while and follows an old dirt road. And if your not used to reading and following trail markers on trees you might not see the markers right away. Look hard, they're there. I've been here twice so far and always bring my camera snapping up some scenery which I intend to blow up and put on my wall. Its a very pretty place and very family friendly, with food, and a nature exhibit. They also have a small pond with peddle boats available. It does cost a few bucks to get in but I think its worth it if you are in need of a slightly less 'wild' environment. We saved some cash by packing a picnic lunch in a back pack and stopping along the trails to eat it. I've climbed some of the highest peaks of the Adirondack Mountains of NY state which have only crude dirt trails and amazing views but I still love and appreciate Bushkill with its smaller scale and quaint charm. I agree that the comparison to Niagara falls is not accurate, but these falls are beautiful just the same! This is a good Starter park for those new to the outdoors! read more

There is really little need to review Bushkill at this point since many others have offered their thoughts, some much better than others, but I'll chip in with a few thoughts and points about our experience during an early season visit this April. 1. Due to renovations most of their buildings were closed. No Native American exhibit, no food past ice cream, the gift shop looked like it was only half stocked, and due to the time of year there were no paddle boats, mini golf or gem panning yet. (although we wouldn't have participated in that overpriced crap even if it was open) 2. The $11 price tag is steep but if you can get a hold of a copy of the NE PA Entertainment Book there is usually a BOGO coupon in there and towards the end of the year you can buy, illegal I know but so what, the coupons on EBay as people will sell them usually for fifty cents or a dollar. If you're going to go anyway, the idea of spending a dollar to save ten should not be overlooked. 3. Try to get there early in the day because if not, as John S. mentioned, things get bogged down particularly in the beginning section by the main falls with lots of picture takers and gawkers. 4. Especially if you are going to do the entire Red Trail, don't be a mental midget and wear flip flops, crocs, or anything other than a sneaker as there are lots of steps and the back end by the bridal veil falls is rocky and has uneven terrain. 5. Bring your camera and enjoy the kitsch of this place for what it is and don't take it so seriously. Is it really worthy of the marketing slogan that references Niagara Falls? No But it is a nice way to get outdoors and have a nice family/couples/personal outing in nature for a few hours that is different and enjoyable. read more

Known as the Niagara of Pennsylvania, Bushkill Falls is situated north of East Stroudsburg right off of US-209 (actually if you take 80 to 209 it'll be LEFT off 209 :)). Immaculate, pristine, majestic, breathtaking. None of these words can even begin to describe the falls. The walk around the falls is not for the faint of heart, but there are different paths you can take based on your skill level. The yellow trail isn't a killer and you can get some amazing views of the falls. For those of you who are into the whole hiking bit - there are some pretty steep trails you can take along the backside of the main fall up to bridal falls. We stuck to yellow and red. Also, the main paths are mostly boardwalked and have wooden stairs to facilitate movement through the park. There are some slippery rocks in places though, so watch your step. Admission is 9$ for adults and 8$ for seniors - and is definitely worth it! read more

Prepare yourself for the high cost and realize that you are helping to cover the maintenance of over 1200 wooden stairways winding their way over, under around and near some beautiful scenery. Once you get over the sticker shock, then wind your way through the various trails and marvel and the beauty of this place. The secret is to get there early before the buss load of tourons arrive and crowd all of the trails. The water is pretty. The scenery is timeless. Great place to visit... lots of trees provide good shade for several nice hikes. They color code the hiking trails so you can gauge how far or difficult you would like to hike. We did the blue and yellow easily in 2 hours and got to see many of the waterfalls from different vantage points. The trails are well marked and stairs/steps with guiderails at many points. They have a gift shop with cold drinks and ice cream awaiting for you at the exit, or bring your own. They have a kid's maze/house outside the entrance if you wish to tire out or entertain the young ones. Definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Pocanos. read more

I've passed the signs for this place dozens of times but it took a recommendation from out of town friends to strike our interest. The drive off the highway is a bit deceptive -- you feel like you should be there already mile after mile, but it does take awhile. We went in the fall but there are a bunch of outdoor activities you could do with families if the weather were warmer. Of course the main attractions are the falls themselves. Though there were plenty of families hiking, I don't advise this for families of small children, especially if strollers are involved. Neither do I advise hiking the trails if: - You're not wearing comfortable, flat-bottom shoes with a tread; - You're not able to climb more than a flight of stairs without wheezing; - You're afraid of heights; - You don't have some water; - You're dressed in anything other than shorts or pants. There are 3 main trails with which to view the falls. You can do any or all of them. The red trail is the longest & criss-crosses the other ones. Look at the trail map and follow the red trail in numerical order. The map says it'll take you about 2 - 3 hours but if you're a hearty hiker and not all about stopping for photo opps at every view, you can do it in less time. The falls are really scenic and worth the price of admission. Take your time and enjoy them. read more

Believe it or not, I had never heard of Bushkill Falls before I put on my hiking boots and made the trek here with my family during Memorial Day weekend. I bring this up because apparently I was the only one who missed the memo about this place - when our group arrived traffic was horribly backed up along the woodland roads and we nearly didn't find a parking spot, despite the lots here being very reasonably sized. When we left, cars that had arrived way too late to snag an actual spot were parked for about half a mile alongside the actual road! I bring this nightmarish traffic up because it really was a headache to deal with, made worse by the pedestrians who didn't pay attention as they strolled from their car to the entrance and held up traffic even more because they decided walking in the middle of the road was the best way to get where they were going. All of that said...Bushkill Falls is ABSOLUTELY worth visiting and is a must-see for any trail and nature lover. It's worth any potential traffic and worth the price of admission, even if the place is so crowded that you won't really be hiking so much as sightseeing. Once you're in the park you can walk along a number of trails that vary in their intensity. My group went for the Red Trail and during our trek we: enjoyed the marvelous falls and rainbows they created; had a chance to birdwatch and spotted a little beaver working away in one of the streams, as well as saw a small snake slithering along his merry way; took a moment to enjoy the beautiful site of trees lining the mountains surrounding us...all in all, just took the time to admire how gosh darn beautiful this piece of nature is. By the way, in addition to the park visitors can also walk through a maze, play in a number of interactive areas, and shop in two gift shops (one with very touristy stuff, one connected to lovely a Native American exhibit). There's a cafe, but it's a bit expensive, honestly. So definitely take the time to brave the traffic and enjoy an afternoon here. But seriously, guys...wear the right shoes. And bring water. I can't tell you how many people I saw doing neither of these things, and their experience was ruined because they weren't prepared for it. Just got back from the Bushkill Falls area located in the Poconos. It's known as a "Niagara of PA" but I wasn't too impressed with it. Don't get me wrong, this place is beautiful and great waterfalls & trails. The falls open at 9 am (we went on a SAT) and we parked the car at the falls around 11 am. The parking was just starting to fill up and the nearby shops were just starting to open. The day was beautiful & it wasn't too hot. The entrance fee is about $11 per person and you have of 4 trails (red, blue, yellow, & green). We decided to try the red trail since it covers everything. The trail was supposed to be 2.5 hours and we completed it in just that much time. Before giving your tickets at the entrance, there's a map that's located there. If you're deciding to do the Red, I suggest that you write that order down. The entire way thru the trails, we (my wife & I) kept kicking ourselves for not writing it down. We did the Red trail up until 16 and then decided to go to the area with the falls rather than the creek. Once there, we went on the yellow trail and headed towards the exit. If you decide to exit where the red trail begins, the stairs are VERY STEEP, exiting through the yellow trail makes it slightly easier. It says that sneakers are a must however we did the trail in flip flops & sandals. It really wasn't too bad since I walk in my sandals all the time however my wife did have sore feet the next day. There are A LOT of stairs everywhere and overall it's a great day trip. After we were done, we decided to see if there was anything else in the area that we can do but weren't able to find anything else. Since this was a part of our package deal trip, we were able to find other things to do. I'm not sure if I would drive 2 hours into the Poconos to see these falls again with family. I think some of the other areas of the Poconos are better worth the trip. read more

Truly the Disney World of hiking. Since this is a private park, there is a charge. $13.50 per adult. Parking was free. I felt as though the price was well worth it. Bushkill was well-maintained. The steps, bridges, and paths were all in great shape-nothing rickety, nothing broken, no vandalism. The bathroom was clean and well-stocked. The admission fee is being put to good use. Obviously, it is nothing like Niagara Falls but it is gorgeous. Well-worth a visit. Tip: Get there early. We left around 1 pm and the place was packed. read more

Admission is $12.50. I highly recommend getting there earlier, that way you can beat some of the rush/tour buses. We came on a Sunday at around 11:30 and it was already bustling with visitors. There are different trails you can take. For the easier ones, you don't get to see as much. The hardest one is the red trail, where you can see 8 waterfalls. According to their map, this one is meant for 'avid hikers'. I am no avid hiker. I'm definitely a beginner hiker (if I can even call myself that!) but the red trail is very doable! It will take about two hours. There are some slopes but it's nothing too crazy. If you're iffy, I believe they have hiking sticks you can rent. Or save yourself some money and just find a giant twig somewhere. While I don't think it was comparable to the Niagara Falls, (they call it the 'Niagara of Pennsylvania'), it does make a great mini weekend getaway, read more

When I saw there was an admission to get in I was expecting to spend $5 or so a person. When I saw the price I was taken aback, but I was on vacation and already there so I bit the bullet. It was even extra money for an "official map." The free map was just fine except it took way shorter to walk than the time the map estimated. Maybe it was overcompensating for traffic?It was PACKED "inside" past the ticket booth. The trails were these gorgeous wooden walkways but they were covered in people. The waterfall it's self was not that impressive. I'm from New York so I've seen some really beautiful waterfalls closer to home that were free both in price and of people. Overall it was too pricey, too crowded, and just underwhelming. read more

BEAUTIFUL hike! There was an entrance fee but we did not mind. The hike was short but there were more trails you could go on. One of them was closed due to some maintenance. I imagine the trail closes seasonally when it gets dangerous in the winter. Trail is mostly steps but there is plenty of railing and it's safe. There are also some places to stop and picnic if you'd like. Overall, such a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere with the feel of the forest and waterfall in the air. Loved it! read more

I think that when they go in the little wildlife office they should be told what to expect and what to take. I wish there was more "water" snack areas around in the trails. Wonderful place to spend a day. Admission is reasonable. Stuff for the kids to see like an animal exhibit right when you enter. Gift shop. Ice cream. The hike itself has man paths so follow the one for you. There's many waterfalls that'll come on and some rivers too. Mostly walking in the woods though, not too much climbing if that's what you're looking for. The cliffs and fall have barriers in case you have kids wandering around. Plenty of parking and trails are hard to get lost on. Worth a visit if you're within hours of here. Lots of sights to see and the main falls are amazing read more

To call it the Niagra of anything is a bit of a stretch, but Bushkill Falls is worth seeing. We went recently (during the fall), so the foliage was really beautiful. It was VERY crowded when we arrived towards the end of the day but there was still enough room to stop along the way and take in the sights and get some good pictures. The prices are a bit steep, for example the $13.50 admission fee and the $4 I paid for a small (but delicious) chunk of fudge from the food shop. Overall it's a nice place to spend the day hiking and taking in the sights, especially if you go in the fall when the weather is perfect and the colors are pretty. read more

Beautiful hike on the yellow tail. The maze was fun and surprisingly challenging. The rock mining was strange, but the kids enjoyed it. Terrible restaurant! Stale pretzel, terrible chicken sandwich, stale crustable for the kids. Also overpriced. Typical Aramark quality. Come for the hike, but bring your own food! read more

Well worth the price. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and climbing a lot of stairs. Make sure your camera or phone is fully charged since you will be wanting to take a lot of pictures. read more
