We checked in at the front wine area and then went into the tasting room (which is in a wine cave). We were served by Elizabeth (hope I have the name correct) who took great care of us. There are so many wines to try (mostly reds) to try. We had been previous wine club members (didn't stop because of the winery) and knew all of the great wines to taste as well as try some of their current ports. Needless to say ended up with a case and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff are so friendly and the tasting in a cave makes it a unique experience.

Drytown Cellars: a laid-back Amador County winery!!…read more Located in Drytown, California, one of the larger and rowdier mining towns in Amador County during the Gold Rush era. Drytown Cellars is part of the historic Vaira Cattle Ranch homestead, and the tasting room has a really relaxed, down-to-earth feel. Service: Friendly and warm Parking: Plenty of free parking right on the property Restroom: Clean and decent The wines: They focus on Sierra Foothill grapes, especially bold Amador County varietals like Zinfandel, Barbera, Sangiovese, and Petite Sirah. I enjoyed the selection and liked that they showcase the local wine region. Ambience: Rustic, casual, and definitely not pretentious. There's a large communal table that can seat up to 20 people, plus a cozy bar area. The walls are covered with award ribbons from winemaker Allen Kreutzer, which is a fun touch. The tasting fee is only $10, and it's refundable with a 2-bottle purchase, which makes this a very affordable stop compared with some of the bigger wine regions. The staff and owner were welcoming and made the experience feel more like visiting a local winery than a commercial tasting room. My only criticism is that some areas of the tasting room look a little rundown, and the décor could use some updating. Overall, a friendly, affordable, no-snobbery wine tasting experience if you're exploring Amador County.

He has an amazing compliment of staff, not to mention a beautiful property that he wants each and every visitor to enjoy. I first discovered Andis Winery years ago, when they used to host an annual crab feed at the Milagro center in Sacramento. I definitely miss those days! I do love the drive up to the Sierra foothills. It's about an hour and change out Of Sacramento, and driving through the beautiful countryside to get to what feels like the rainbow on the other side is definitely worth the drive. Yes, there are other wineries in the area, but this is definitely a must try. The winery will host various events, including winetasting, music, food, events, and even private events. The seating outside is comfortable and lovely, and it's definitely worth going with your besties like I do, to enjoy the wine, the scenery, and of course the company. This is probably one of the few wineries that I've been to where the staff really sticks. I enjoy going in at different times of the year, seeing familiar faces, and having everyone remember me. It just makes the experience super special. They have a wine club that is absolutely worth joining, and for a period of time I was a member, and the deals they offer are pretty phenomenal. Definitely worth visiting because you'll wanna go back time and time again.

The tasting room and wine shop has a bit of an Italian villa vibe. The huge back lawn was beautiful. We chose to stay inside since outside service was limited that day. The bottle labels and wine names were entertaining in themselves. With an extensive list it was hard to choose a few to try. I started with three of their five sparkling wines. The Almond, the Peach, and the Strawberry. I have an office full of girls that enjoy their sweet bubbles. So they got some that day. For me, I like the reds. Julie Ann Barbera, Sienna Mourvedre, Morgan's Nebbiolo, and Naughty Bawdy. All great, but Naughty you have to try on label and name alone. Plenty of parking in the front.

Good wine, gorgeous views, and chill relaxed inviting vibes. First of all, Helwig is in the town of Plymouth which is about 25 miles from Folsom. It was my first visit here. Who knew that this wine country is so close to Sacramento?! Well now you do. The winery is perched on top of an elevated land that provides a spectacular view s of the Shenandoah Valley. Movie picture perfect views. My friends and I sat on the deck and soaked in all the gorgeousness. We also bought lunch from the Kitchen which is a walk up counter service and a bottle of wine from the tasting room. From the Kitchen, I ordered the southwest salad and added grilled chicken for an extra $5. The salad was uneventful. The chicken was a measly portion that was served in a small container that is the same size container that the salad dressing was served in. Where's the chicken?! The chicken also had no flavor. Bummer. But the Dave burger and side of Caesar salad looked so darn delicious. Folks in my group that ordered that, devoured theirs. Big, fat juicy burger. The onion rings was a hit for me, crisp golden fried beer batter sweet onion rings. Delicious. The audible crunch just made it more satisfying. The housemade kettle chips were thick, toothsome, and salty. Very flavorful. My glass of wine was so darn delicious. Light, crisp and smooth. Darn... I forgot the name of the wine. There is also a wine cave, folks can make reservations for tastings in the cave. The cave is below the amphitheater. The small amphitheater is aesthetically eye catching. Sloped manicured green lawns bordered by thoughtfully designed concrete landscaping. Concert info and reservations for the cave is on their website.
