Purchase wine from the Winery, 1 of the 2 bottles We're oxides! So I called the Winery and told Elliott about the wine and so kindly he sent me 2 more bottles. A couple weeks later we had a dinner party and opened 1 of the 2 bottles and the same thing happened oxidation so I proceeded to open the other bottle and the same thing happened bad wine. So how I called and Winery and talked to Elliott and he said he would make it good! Nothing has happened! No return call or anything to resolve the 2 bad bottles. Poor customer service! read more

This is the second time I have stayed at the Vineyard View cottage and I'm already planning the next time! It is the perfect quiet getaway. Elliot is fantastic and very responsive. Table red wine cheap and good . Two bottles for the wifey. Pairs easily with everything, taste like a bottle of gold for the nice price. . Boardaux - effin amazing 3 pours for me 3. 2 pours for wifey. . Really love their wine pour corks which is very funny especially the donald trump. As well the cute kitty and dog. . Good pasta pairing and rib eye sandwich pairing. . Good customer service even being snarky to wifey which cracks her up. . Cute and small place like inside a garage, nothing fancy but get the job done. . Great table space but view is ok. The annual Gathering of the Goddesses took place at Busby's Vineyard Cottage this year and it was PERFECT! The cottage is comfortable, cozy and Covid safe. Small and uncrowded tasting toom. Wonderful to get away from the large limo groups of obnoxious 20 somes. Bought some Herbert Zin, one of the best zinfidels I have experienced. The dog, sorry I forgot her name, is a beautiful Pointer who will stare at you until you give her a cracker. She doesn't want to be petted so just give her a cracker! read more

I came here during their 5 year anniversary event. They have a nice little lawn area where there are picnic tables set up and they had a karaoke machine going due to the unfortunate cancellation of their planned blue grass player. The owners seem very sweet and their dog Hank patrols the grounds making sure everyone is attended to. This was the last stop on my wine tasting tour for the day and I am sad to say that I tried three wines and didn't care for any of them. I tried to drink their silver medal winner Apparition with my wonderful lunch provided by Off the Vine caterers but it just didn't set well with me. Stayed at the cottage next to the winery for two nights with four friends. Had a lovely time. 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms, very clean and nicely outfitted. Elliot, the owner, was super nice and helpful. Supplied my friend with lens solution when they forgot theirs. Would definitely recommend and hope to return. read more

This place should be called BUGsby because of the massive amount of fruit flies flying all over the wines, us and the food being served. No thanks! Every other winery seems to have figured out ways to eliminate this and I would highly suggest this place get to it. Couldn't enjoy the wines and wanted to leave the moment I walked in. This is the best winery in the Somerset/Fairplay Appellation - I go tasting in this area 4 times a year. I use Busby as my gold standard. I taste there first and then go to other wineries to see if they have anything that I like equally as much or better than Busby. I usually don't end up buying much else except a gratuity bottle of wine for the tasting at the other wineries. My favorites have been the Grenache, the Herbert Zin, Apparition and a new favorite for me, the Viognier. My friends swear by the Petite Syrah and Myers Ranch Red for everyday. It's no surprise why Busby has won so many medals in the Chronicle's Best Wines Review. The price point is very reasonable at regular price (everything is less than $22) and is a steal at the club price. Busby wines taste like wines that go for 2x or more the price. You'll never find Busby at Bevmo. The wine maker wants to keep his production level small so he can better control the quality. This is a real gem; year after year since it has opened, Busby has never disappointed. read more

Not a fan. We went during Passport weekend and felt totally unwelcome, but ended up buying 3 bottles of wine, despite not loving anything (a mistake I will not repeat). Got home, tried the wine, and it tasted horrible - completely corked. Not worth a single penny. We will not be back. read more

I think these folks do a great job with their wine... I've tasted here a few times and always seem to have several bottles in hand when we head to the car. They are easy to find and there are lots of other wineries in the area if you're looking to make a day/weekend of it. The facilities are not fancy, but you could easily have a picnic here and they have a nice restroom. Sometimes they have food/entertainment - and their website seems pretty up to date on that kind of stuff. Definatly worth a stop adn I'll be back again for sure! read more

I LOVE this place! The wines are fantastic and the owners are usually in the tasting area pouring the wines. We had a picnic there on Saturday and it was a perfect afternoon with a bottle of delicious Barbera ($22). Don't forget to bring a little extra snack for the winery dog! read more

Attended a Busby Cellars Winemaker Dinner for Valentine's Day at the Gold Vine Grill in Fair Play. The food was great and the wines were incredible! My wife thought the chardonnay was the best she had ever had. The winery didn't spare any expense, and poured two of their gold and double-gold winning wines. The syrah was exceptional and paried perfectly with the duck dish. We never expected the actual winemaker to be there in person, but Elliott Busby presented each course and wine pairing with interested information and humorous antecdotes. Next time we're in the area we'll have to visit the winery itself. read more

I could not agree more with P C (above). The wines at Busby are impeccable across the board. I come to California each spring to visit a different region. Since encountering Elliot and his wines several years ago, i could not wait to get back. In March 2011, my wait was rewarded with even better wines than i remembered. Perhaps the difference between the first two reviews can be explained by a style preference because there is certainly nothing to criticize about the wine making. I believe the owners must have found an almost perfect balance among site, attention to grape growing, and a very deft and well-conceived philosophy of wine making taste. It seems obvious to me that there is a very hands off, nurturing of the wines from beginning to end. They display a balance of body, intensity, and very true, varietal character. The finish on each wine is lingering--a trait that i associate with both current pleasure and aging potential. Bravo Sherrie and Elliot!
