three women outside a winery
Casey W.

We enjoyed a little wine tasting at this quaint barn style tasting room. They have a great selection of port wines. The staff was very friendly. They also have complimentary wine tasting.

We unknowingly came on a passport event weekend but they were able to squeeze us in. The flight that we had was great but we were amazed by how many wines they produce. There had to be 15 sparkling wines alone! We purchased a couple bottles and we'll definitely be back to try some more wines. Our host was very informative and helpful and the grounds are beautiful.

Can see just fine

Excellent place to stop in Amador. Tasting is FREE & they have a lot of choices. Especially, if you like sweet wine, this is the place for you. They have something like 12 different Port options. The grounds are beautiful & perfect for a picnic. Also, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Don't pass this place.

Park like grounds

This place is Port heaven. Found this little gem on the recommendation from a nearby winery. I was in search of some port style wines and I was directed to Deaver Driving in it looked more like a Midwest farm- large old trees, a barn and a couple of ponds. Also - by the way- nice restrooms!!! Those can be hard to find while wine tasting. They had the largest selection of ports in the area, eleven. In fact, I'm not sure I've seen a selection that size even in Napa. The staff explained the different varietals used and the resulting flavors. Three types had already sold out. So we tried half of the remaining ports. I was very surprised at how uniquely different each one was.

Most Beautiful Grounds in Amador

The best way to visit Deaver, is to stay out of the tasting room and eat by the lake. Spectacularly beautiful grounds and tasting room. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/8LeLZdDcLPvwFRO9XIZqFA?select=k7rXAJwZxiWHw--F27zDuQ Picnic area around a lake just begs to be the place where you munch on that sandwich or salad you had the people over at Amador Vintage Market make for you earlier that day. After visiting 16 other places, we would choose this place for dining al fresco. This place actually actually got one star for the above stuff. Now to the wine tasting part. 2008 Nana's Zin @ $25 has got to putting Nana into a spin in her grave. Ugh! 2008 Old Vine Zin @ $28 spicy and bad like Nana's, but just more pricey. Double ugh! 2008 Ten Zins @ $28 more fruit forward, no finish, pricey. Ugh! 2007 Petite Syrah @$26 Triple ugh! 5-6 ports available, two for tasting. We tasted better all over the region. Don't buy here. The cabernet chocolate blueberries were tasty. The amount of marketing crap in the tasting room made me rename Deaver Vineyards to "Solvang of the North".

Nice picnic spot
D H.

I would recommend Deaver for the grounds. If your are planning a picnic this may be the ideal location. It has a little lake with picnic tables and a lush lawn. As far as the wine, it would be a great place for people who are just getting interested in drinking wine. They offer a lot of wine on the sweet side, that a lot of wine beginners enjoy. In addition to that the wine is not to pricey at around $15 a bottle. If you are someone who has a little more experienced palate you may want to skip this one and venture down the road, unless you are having a picnic.

Love their wines, particularly the Orange Muscat which was very tasty and perfect with some sweets and cheese on a hot day.

In my opinion, they are doing so many things to enhance the wine tasting experience, it could blow away the competition. Examples are as follows: 1. Rebuilding, refinishing and updating the tasting room and facility. 2. Hiring the former Sous Chef from Taste restaurant to create food offerings/pairings and provide a small bite sample with wine tasting. 3. Display unique and unusual art in and around the property. (They have seven full size panels from the Berlin Wall adjacent to the tasting room.) 4. Staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. 5. The wine pricing is reasonable when compared to the quality. 6. Both the food and wine are excellent. That said, I think the one possible stumbling point could be their attempt to blend in their east coast sister wines and styles with this region. It might be an interesting idea, but I am uncertain people locally will appreciate or understand the effort. The Amador wine region is not Napa Valley, and I don't think it possesses the international appeal, notoriety or demographics that will support the concept of bi-coastal wines. In any event, we will return to further experience the ongoing evolution of this remarkable winery.

I had to show them the email confirmation. It was fine and we were still able to sit down right away. The inside wine tasting room is kind of small but the outdoor patio and area makes up for it. It is quite big and open. I think someone can host an outdoor concert or a wedding. We got to taste about five type of wines (Sauvignon Blanc and few blended red wine). They were all good. I particularly like the 2020 Interlude and purchased a bottle for my sister. We also got to sample from their gallery collection library club that's like 20+ years old ( I forgot the exact year) and that was special. They also have dumplings and spring rolls for purchase. I skip that because I wasn't sure if that would go with the wine. We bought some cheese with us and we had that with our wine. Of course, we asked for permission before bringing in our own cheese and crackers. The gentleman that served us was really nice and friendly. We didn't feel rushed and wine was poured at a good pace. I do want to mention that most winery at Amador will comp at least one tasting with purchase, but not at Di Arie. If you're not a member, be prepared to pay the full wine tasting fee per person.

They did their pairings with a Mediterranean lunch. This was also amazing. They also providdd a tasting of their more recent wines, 2019 Sierra Legend! It's a Terri blend of Cab Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Syrah and Primitivo! The host and hostess were all very friendly and knowledgeable! And of course to meet and chat with the wine maker himself, Chaim, was a wonderful treat! The grounds were small, but very cute and relaxing. It made for a warm, friendly ambiance! Of course we walked away with a case of the Sierra and the 3 OG vintage wines! We're definitely coming back in a few weeks. Thank you Di Arie!

Dan didn't just pour wine -- he made people feel welcomed, appreciated, and like they were part of the Villa Toscano family. Whether it was your first visit or your fiftieth, Dan had a way of remembering people, connecting with them, making them laugh, and turning a tasting into a memorable experience. His personality, professionalism, humor, and passion for wine made him unforgettable. The turnout on his last day spoke volumes. People didn't just come to say goodbye to an employee -- they came to say goodbye to someone who genuinely impacted their experience and became part of what made Villa Toscano special. Dan set the standard for hospitality, and there's no doubt his presence will be deeply missed. At the same time, congratulations to Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurants in Scottsdale, Arizona for landing one of the absolute best in the business. Their guests are about to experience exactly why so many people thought so highly of Dan here in Amador County. Villa Toscano was lucky to have him, and Cooper's Hawk is lucky to have him next. Apparently, this is the related winery to Villa Toscano located nearby, which we had previously visited. Once again, I found myself a fan of this place also! It too, is surrounded by eye pleasing countryside views, with lovely ponds, fountains, flowers and comfortable seating areas along the outdoor patios. The entrance opens into a large room where the tasting counter is at the far end. But before getting there, you are tempted on the way over to browse the retail area which features home decor, artwork, designer accessories, and clever wine connoisseur gifts. The walls are decorated with assorted flags and a family style crest over the focal point of the wine tasting bar. The wines offered on the wine tasting list were similar to what we had tried before at Villa Toscano. But we ordered another $5.00 flight that included our favorites along with a few we hadn't tried yet. We enjoyed the flavor variations, but had a hard time deciding on what to purchase, so we went outside for a while to take in the scenery and discuss which ones we liked the best. Bella Piazza also offers a wine club membership that includes discounts on wine, other products and a free lunch buffet every weekend.
