Lay of the land

You want American Mountain Charm- this place hits in October!! Leaves start changing around 2nd week in Oct & get more amazing as weeks go by leading up to Winter. We came here last weekend & it was perfect! Great weather, friendly folks working, beautiful landscape & happy families. All kinds of pumpkins; see pics! Sweet treats, BBQ, popcorn & it seems they are famous for their baked goods... get the Pumpkin Roll, $17. They have fall items for sale as well. Photo prop areas to catch the memories!! Hayride I missed, but the family said it was great! A long line moves fast, I think we counted 6 tractors that keep rolling on. Lots of great Apple & Markets along the drive to & from- just a great feel-good experience!! Wheel barrows for hauling your BIG pumpkins to your car. Portable Potties line the parking lot with the water sinks- love that! Clean & organized too. If you missed this, plan 2024! Worth the drive & I believe runs 2 weeks

We drove past this gem of a pumpkin farm on our way to the falls... then on the way back we stopped in for some fun. Hay rides, supersized pumpkins, bbq, boiled peanuts, Jam's and jelly's, unique pumpkins, and so much more! This was a great find... fortunately it was on the way, but now that I know this is here I might drive the, close to an hour, to get here. A big place with lots of pumpkin magic to partake in. If Linus's great pumpkin was anywhere it would show up here. Man they had the largest selection of giant pumpkins I have ever seen! As well as section after section of specialty pumpkins. Don't worry they have the good old standbys as well... hundreds if not thousands of them. We ate some BBQ that was pretty good and not too pricy, then we walked through the general store, and then we grabbed a wheelbarrow and hunted us some pumpkins! We got lost in the thrill of finding just the right ones and had a blast! The whole family really enjoyed it. The people were nice, helpful, and there are plenty of them if you need help. We even went on the hay ride! The prices are about what you'd expect... It was a lot of fun and the selection of sizes and types was OHHH MY GODDIE TOOOO HOTTIE! A fabulous stop that we will look to experience every year from now on!

If you are looking for that quintessential fall activity, look no further. If you are willing to take the hour/hour and a half drive from the city, it's definitely worth it. I went the second week in October and the weather was very warm lol. Perfect for family day or a solo activity day. I went during the week and it wasn't crowded which was perfect for pumpkin picking. They have a huge free parking lot in front. Entry is free. Pumpkins, products, food and activities are available for purchase. They have a country store when you walk inside that sells items such as jam, chips, popcorn, boiled peanuts, local produce and seasonal decorations. They also have fall snacks at the snack bar: apple cider, hot chocolate, pumpkin rolls and fried sweets! Tons of photo ops and hay rides! PUMPKIN SELECTION: First off, I never knew so many different types of pumpkins existed. They had over 10 different types of pumpkins to choose from (see pics) of all sizes. I spent a couple of hours just trying to pick the a couple. A bit more overwhelming than I anticipated but still a fun fall activity. I ended up leaving with two medium sized pumpkins and a couple of small ones with a cider. This will definitely be a part of my annual fall ritual.

The perfect addition to a Fall trip to Amicalola Falls, just minutes away! The workers at the cash registers were the friendliest of any pumpkin farm I've been to in Georgia! Do note a $5 minimum for credit cards. The food selection was great! They have 3 types of popcorn and I got the bacon and cheddar cheese flavor ($1.50) which was super tasty! They also had both cold apple cider ($3) and hot apple cider ($4). I enjoyed both! Behind the pumpkin patch you can also order funnel cakes, deep fried pumpkin rolls, etc. The pumpkin patch was well stocked, but it looks like the tiny pumpkins (in boxes under a covered area) go quickly! Worth a quick stop for sure!

Note upfront: this place was awesome at first! Up in the North Georgia Mountains off a country road is Burt's Pumpkin Farm. Parking is easy and free! When entering, there is plenty of signage letting you know where to go and what to do. You can grab a wheel barrel and go out into the vast field that is the pumpkin patch. They have many pumpkin options, from mini pumpkins to your standard orange, white pumpkins to colorful gourds and wort/speckled pumpkins. They have a retail shop with cute decor home items and food, lots of jellies and bread for sale. They had great fall items like bundles of corn, handmade scarecrows, and fall signage for your doors and walls. They have covered areas placed with hay and pumpkins for photo ops and even hayrides for a cost. In total, we spent $50.00 for 4-5 pumpkins of varying sizes. HOWEVER: After only 5-6 days, our first pumpkin started to riot to the point where it brought bugs - glad we kept them outside. And a few days later, another pumpkin. Our larger pumpkin and gourd still stood up as of December 2020 when we purchased on 10/16/2020.

Massive pumpkins . Lovely place, going back to pick up some for Halloween

This was a nice spot with a lot of fall decor, whimsical. Wish we had more time to look around some more.

I went to Burt's with my family and it was so fun! If you go during the week it is a lot less people and you can enjoy your time! We rode the cute hayride and my son loved it.

Brought my 7 month old daughter and even though she probably won't remember, Mom sure will They had lots of pumpkins and good fall food.

They have a great selection of pumpkins in all different shapes, colors, and sizes for reasonable prices. It is free to enter the farm and shop. No pets are allowed. The hayride is $6 per person and is fun. This year it seemed more rushed than in the past. Also, not much changes as to the decorations on the hayride or the animated welcome with a religious theme. There are snacks to purchase as well and this is a great place for some fall photos!!!

Hayride

Super cute place to bring your kids. Lots of different types of pumpkins and other fall items for sale, along with lots of popcorn and pies and other treats for sale. The hayride is a huge hit with multiple sights to see along the way. Only drawback is that it is increasingly busy every year. Sorry I didn't take more pictures of the barn, I've been here many times.

I enjoyed a good day trip to Burt's pumpkin farm and pick it up Cinderella pumpkin and some squash's. The pumpkin roll were delicious, and I got some pumpkin chocolate chip bread. It is relaxing place.

Great variety and quantity of pumpkins. Never seen so many different types in my life! Not to mention some of the absolutely BIGGEST pumpkins I've ever seen!! I've only knew they grew that large from pumpkin carving shows. I also loved that they have spaghetti squash and butternut squash for purchase. Check out process was very smooth. I think prices are fair. Friendly staff, overall happy we went!

The place is super cute and the people are nice. Only down side is there is no where to sit. So if you are waiting for a hay ride and you sit on hay they will get on to you (because it could collapse). Only way to sit is in your car or on the hay ride which is $6. The apple cider is $3 for a small cup of it. It is good but not worth the price per ounce. I got pumpkin butter for $10 and I am excited to try it.

It's a family run, low key, beautiful farm with picnic tables with toys set up for littles to play with, there's a beautiful farmhouse store with local products and they have their own fresh farm grown produce and treats for sale too. The pumpkins are not overly expensive and I consider hem to reasonably priced AND you're shopping local! I wish I had gotten the sweet man who drives the tractors name because he was my favorite part. A little hayride around their beautiful land with some life lessons thrown in for everyone to appreciate. And for all of us basic girls there are PLENTY of beautiful photo ops! Oh and 2 words Muscadine Slushies!

First things first -- get ready for a drive. This place is…read morenot just "down the street." It's a journey. But let me be very clear: it is 100% worth it. From the moment you arrive, you can tell Mercier Orchards is something special. There is so much packed into this one location that it almost feels like a small village built around apples and everything that comes with them. Inside the main store, the selection is honestly overwhelming in the best way possible -- home goods, gifts, jams, jellies, preserves, baking mixes, sauces, butters, ciders... anything and everything apple-related, plus plenty of other fruit-based goodies. It's the kind of place where you say "I'm just going to browse" and then walk out with bags of stuff you didn't know you needed. Then there's the bakery. Seven lines. All long. And all moving surprisingly well. I eventually stepped out of line after about 15 minutes, but not before getting a solid look at the pastries, pies, breads, and desserts -- everything looked incredible. Even without buying anything that round, the bakery alone is worth the stop. Now let's talk about the apple picking experience -- because this is where the magic really happens. Riding out on a trailer attached to a tractor felt like something straight out of a fall movie. The views, the air, the vibe -- it's peaceful, exciting, and nostalgic all at the same time. The apples change with the season, and the ones we picked were delicious and lasted a long time. No pesticides, just straight calcium. Fresh, crisp, and perfect. And yes... get a bag or three like I did. You're going to want them. The entire place also makes for amazing photo opportunities. Whether it's the orchard, the tractor ride, the store, or the scenery -- this is one of those spots where your camera roll is guaranteed to fill up. The only negative moment of the day happened when I went to grab some cider and one of the guys behind the counter completely ignored me. I actually had to call him out -- like, "Did you not see me standing here?" Not great. But that one interaction couldn't even come close to outweighing everything else this place offers. Bottom line: If you're anywhere in the area -- or even thinking about making a day trip -- you absolutely have to go. It's a little off the beaten path, so I don't expect most people to just "stumble" upon it... but if you plan it, you won't regret it. This is an experience, not just a stop.

And they deserve no less than 5 stars for the experience, from my first correspondence with Holly to arrange the tour, to arriving. The directions and the signage were momentarily confusing, but the site indicates to drive towards the right behind the barn on the gravel road. Pulling in you can't help but "awww" over the chickens, ducks, dogs and alpacas dotting the property. Once all of the other guests had arrived, the tour began and it was both fun and informational, about the farm, alpacas, and the artwork made from their fibers. Even my little one was less than her squirmy fidgety self and listened. Feeding the alpacas was really the most fun part as we were told that they don't particularly like being petted on their heads (only a minor bummer as we'd gleefully hoped that we'd get a few gentle pats in.) The tour finished up in the upstairs art studio where hand-made gifts were available, or where one could make a donation, as the tour is free. For how much fun it was, I wouldn't have hesitated to have been required to pay for it anyways. It was a very fun and memorable morning meeting some gentle and fluffy alpacas up close, and I would strongly suggest that anybody making a weekend trip to this area to plan ahead to also visit Lasso the Moon.
