I was looking for a private experience for our family of 3 that doesn't involve a lot of crowds and where my daughter could have private time with animals and this place was perfect! I booked our experience directly through the website: (when you book, I advice you to do it as well to avoid additional fees) https://lostmountainalpacaranch.com/ I booked the 60 minute experience for our family and we were in for such a treat. The owners David and Tina were very welcoming, friendly, and very open to educating us about their farm, the lovely alpacas, their cats, and the super cute guard dog, Bodhi. During the private experience, we interacted with the alpacas and fed them their breakfast, our session was at 10am. We really enjoyed the stories the owners told us about the alpacas and the farm. I really loved the experience as it was just for our group and we throughly enjoyed it, I didn't have to worry about crowds and I wasn't rushed. Can't wait to see the alpacas again the next time we are in the area.

The alpacas, while not…read morevisibly scared of people, are not eager to be touched and are far less welcoming than Debbi and Hank. Debbi is an open, warm and informed host who gladly answers questions about her alpaca family, which she is passionate about. Although I did not have an appointment, which is advisable, and called from the farm's driveway, Debbi kindly drove over from her nearby home and spent an hour with me chitchatting about all things alpaca. For you alpaca enthusiasts, the Merrills also operate a small gift shop with items incorporating alpaca fleece, including yarn from their own animals (how often do you get to meet and learn the name and story of the creature whose body produced the material for the socks you are about to knit?), hats, sweaters, socks and stuffed animals. If it can be made with alpaca fleece or has a picture of an alpaca on it, Debbi probably has it in stock. If you thrill to the idea of hearing alpacas hum in close proximity, stop by and check out the alpacas and kitties and ducks and geese. Debbi and Hank will doubtless put out their welcome mat.

We were allowed to get a refill of their feed and the owners enjoy watching their fluffy friends getting spoiled. We didn't feel rushed. We also saw piglets, kittens, horses, and a donkey. The hay ride was fun! We were offered cold water which was nice! We purchased the Bug-a-boo soap made with alpaca wool fibers which works well and helps repel bugs.

Came here with boyfriend using a groupon. Basically was 50% off, tours are usually $20/person but…read morewith the groupon it was $20 for the both of us. Location is about 1 hr from Atlanta, pretty easy to get to just a straight shot up I-75. The turn on google maps is a little off on the final stretch but they have a sign so we didn't have any problems finding it. You drive up this really long gravel road that circles their property and park by the big red barn they have. That's where they stable the alpacas and horses they have. They have two short haired pointers outside that are very friendly and will probably greet you. They also have great danes that they breed that are very friendly but those are in a fenced area so no need to be nervous. The farm owner/tour guide wasn't around when we got there so we called the number from google and she came over. We rode in her gator which is like a mix between an ATV and a tractor. Circled around the whole 60 acres of estate and she pointed out all her family's houses that they've built and where they pasture all their animals. Sadly they sold their goats but they have a really cute miniature donkey that we petted. Once you get back from the tour you can pet and feed the alpacas. Basically you get to give them their daily meal of feed so they will swarm you and you can pet them while they eat their feed. There's about 13 alpacas but they are all very friendly and do not bite! So no need to worry. Their horses also come over, they have nine very beautiful horses one of which is a cute pony. They also will eat the pellets so you can pet those as well. They have a little store with products made from their alpaca's fur so you can get that stuff. We watched them herd their alpacas from their stables to pasture, which was pretty difficult haha, and then we left. Overall great experience! Definitely wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty. You'll probably walk away with a little alpaca poop on your shoes. Also the alpacas don't exactly spit but sometimes they sneeze and they can definitely sneeze on you. They look super cute with their bobblehead haircuts and I would definitely recommend coming for a visit!
