We stopped in Mountain Valley Farm Store on a misty overcast summer day when visiting Ellijay & I couldn't recommend it more! They carry tons of local specialty snacks that all looked delectable- the sourdough crackers were our favorite! MVFS also sells grass-raised beef and other ethically farmed meat products. When we arrived it was around 10am but we were so tempted by the goat cheese cherry ice cream which sounded decadent. My sister and her husband got the pimiento cheese dip which was A+ as well! Basically you can't go wrong. Customers are also welcome to walk around the farm and visit with the animals which was SO fun for the kids (and the adults haha). They all were so well cared for - living the way all farm animals should! It was the perfect morning activity- I recommend it to everyone in the area! read more

we visited the farm store after my grandkids enjoyed an hour on their farm. I love their blackberry jam, the popcorn was amazing and they had a really nice selection of meats and farm products. We did not try the ice cream, but a family outside raved about it. It's really nice that they allow people to come with their kids and see all the animals and make it a big flashy expensive thing. Susie write was the absolute sweetest ever! My friend and I stopped in on Tuesday for some meat on our way back home. We used the bathrooms located right outside the store and then walked the grounds before going inside. I was SHOCKED at how well cared for the animals were. We arrived around 3:30, so mid day, and every single animal area was clean with fresh food and water. I was so impressed. The grounds were clean and very well kept. Lots of beautiful flowers and a beautiful pond. When we arrived there was a new delivery, twin sheep who were resting alongside their momma. It was precious. There was also a momma and baby cow, many ducks in the pond, and rabbits. Inside the store is full of handmade soaps, lotions, candles and food! We purchased some homemade crackers, goat cheese spread, pickles, ground beef and filet. Susie gave us a sheet with information about their meats and took her time showing us each cut so that we could hand pick the ones we wanted. We also ordered the goat cheese ice cream bing cherry and it was seriously the best thing I've ever had! It was so light and airy and has a tart salty flavor to it. I cannot wait to return for more!!! They have rabbit adoptions currently so if you are in the market for a sweet rabbit and can provide a loving home let them know and they will introduce you to them. We absolutely devoured our food and cannot wait to return for more! If you are in the area, or even if you aren't I highly recommend stopping in for some quality food. And that's saying a lot as I'm 63 yrs old, grew up raising beef and have been all over the country sampling at various restaurants and packers. We visited yesterday 8/3 and really enjoyed our time. The land itself is beautiful and if you love nature you will really appreciate it as well. We pet some animals through/over the fence, and got to see a brand new baby cow that was born that same day! The director of the farm's truck needed to be jump started, so my husband offered and he was so kind and ended up getting it done himself. But we really appreciate how friendly he was to us and talking to us about the new baby's that were born. The review saying the place was dirty probably was made by someone who has never been to a farm, because all the animals looked properly taken care of and content. Mountain Valley Farm Store located at the Farm is a little outside of Elijay. MVF is USDA and GDA approved free of antibiotics, steroids, pesticides and chemical fertilizers. It's a rare Farm source near ATL that is open to the public! It was a scenic hour and half drive to the mountains and a pleasant way to spend a day. ++ Ambiance is a tiny country store. Outside, there's a playground for their pet goats and livestock area that seem to cater to newborns with their mothers: calves, lambs and baby goats. Beyond is a nice view of the mountains. The store was stocked with fresh meats and handmade goods. +++ MVFS sells their dry aged grass fed beef and bones, heritage pork and Jersey raw milk. Also, they sell other Georgia farm products such as Happy Cow Creamery butter, Three Graces Dairy handmade goat cheese, Sweetwater Valley Dairy handmade cheese, White Oak Pastures pasture raised chickens and pasture raised hen eggs, livers, chicken feet and locally handmade jams, sauces, honey, lotions using their tallow...and more. This is one of those places that gives you a full experience. The views of the farm is great. It is good to see farm animals and have a lot of opportunities for photos and good memories. We actually went for the ice cream. Got their Goat cheese and berries ice cream, it was so good. The interiors of the store looks very upscale and they have done a great job maintaining it. PRECIOUS. We (myself & my 4 kids) visited with our Forest school friends and really enjoyed the cozy setting and visiting with the animals. It's small but especially nice if you have lots of little ones you want to keep up with easily - you can visit goats, bunnies, both free roaming and farm raised, a cow/calf or two, sheep and, at the time, lambs - there are picnic tables, trees to climb and stumps for kids to climb and hop around to and from. The farm store is a real treat w/ a selection of several types of organic fair trade coffees - Colombian, Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Rwandan (I may be off by one and I'm definitely missing a couple) I was really excited to see those. I went with the Rwandan and it is delicious! Candles, handmade personal care items such as lotions, soaps and lip balms, grass fed dairy products/meats, hot sauces, sour dough crackers, popcorn, and my kids favorite part, quite a few flavors of handmade specialty ice creams. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things! The staff were kind, attentive, and patient with kiddos roaming about asking questions AND, very watchful for little ones crossing the road from the parking lot at the farm store/petting area toward where the cow pasture is. They slowed down and watched carefully before crossing on tractors/in vehicles! It's was a sweet, fun visit. I definitely recommend it and, if you take a picnic, you'll have a couple of sweet quality hours with your littles. There's less to do for bigger kids but my older two still enjoyed our visit - especially the ice cream, ha! read more

If you're looking for free range pork (delicious!) and grass fed beef (double delicious!) take a ride to Mountain Valley Farm. There's a lot to be said about animals raised in a humane environment with no hormones, no antibiotics, no pesticides. The store is open daily, and carries jams, eggs, cheese and the most fantastic woks -- Lazarus Woks -- made from repurposed farm equipment. (I can't believe how perfectly it cooks!) Despite a baby goat nibbling on my sweater, I got a kick out of seeing all the farm animals. The beautiful country setting and proximity to Atlanta make this a place I will certainly come back to. read more

I love this place! I love the farm fresh brown eggs! They have milk,butter and cheeses too. My family loves the fresh homemade ice cream. Especially the brown sugar maple bacon ice cream! You can pick up great sauces and local honey. The cook books are great. They also have some gourmet kitchen items for cooking. Pricey but nice! Don't forget to look at the sheet at the counter with all they're local farm fresh meats that don't get any fresher! They have it all! This was a great place to stop on our drive from Chattanooga to the North Georgia mountains. After you've ordered, they have a refrigerator and freezer on the porch where they will place your order for you to pick up - easy & organized system. We ordered bacon, ground beef, hotdogs, bratwurst, butter, eggs, and jam. Everything was fresh and delicious. We cooked the hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwurst on the charcoal grill, and the bacon on a skillet. She took a bunch of animals out for the kids to see, fed the horse, and even went the extra mile and got the kids inside a big tractor. We were here for about an hour. Simply amazing.
