    Pumpkin patch

Berry Patch Farm is a very simple place to visit. You can probably do everything in an hour. $5 to park, to ride a pony $5 , they have one ride for $3 , face painting $2 to $3, and make sure you bring cash. You can ride the tractor for free and drop you off so you can pick up your own pumpkin. They have a small play area. There are not too many animals to see, but it is very pleasant to walk on a beautiful day.

This is one of the most relaxing things you can do at 6am. It seems ridiculous but the atmosphere makes you feel like your part of a prairie. The goats run right up to the children when the owner calls them and they are oh so friendly. I went with my step mom and it was foggy and cool that day. It gave off a mystical vibe and we loved every moment of it.

I've been here two times now for blueberry picking. It's the closest U-Pick farm I know of in the northern suburbs, which makes it convenient. The berries are $1.99 per pound. I was able to get about 3 and a half pounds worth in about 45 minutes of picking. The place gets popular on Saturdays, with about 30 cars in the lot when I left about 9:45 am. You might want to get there early if you want to avoid the crowds. Picking season is supposed to last until Aug 4. The one quibble I have is that the berry bushes are a little unkempt with a lot of vines over growing over them. Some of the aisles are overgrown so it's a little hard to navigate. That being said, I still didn't have problems finding plenty of good berries. The staff is friendly and warn you about some poison ivy on some if the bushes. This is a good place for a family outing with a lot of families with young children out picking berries. I definitely plan on coming back each season to stock up on blueberries.

A quick half day trip from Atlanta, this is a good place to pick up some pumpkins and eat some autumn themed junk food like roasted peanuts, cider, and fried pies. There is not much more to it than that besides jars of jam and barbecue sauce, and Halloween face painting, but it is a good time. Inefficiency is part of this farm's charm. The tourist area is a large circle and you get from one place to another via hayride. You need the hayride because the pumpkins and the place you pay for them are in different places. It has a bit of a contrived feel, though, because you're not actually PICKING the pumpkins; they've been picked from who knows where (I overheard one guy speculating Whole Foods) and dumped right next to the parking lot for you to sort through. This is not my preferred method of pumpkin picking as the selection has clearly been sorted through already - there are only fairly large, healthy looking pumpkins available. The farm does, however, have mini-pumpkins and gourds growing in an accessible field. Hauling the pumpkins on the hayride to stand in the fried pie line to pay - with cash or check only, by the way - seems an unnecessary hassle. The carving pumpkins are all really heavy, and thus really expensive (69 cents a pound). Carrying a big pumpkin and several little pumpkins is not doable unless you have some sort of bag, so bring one. It was crowded more in the morning and for some reason and thinned out in the early afternoon. The crowd consists largely of CHILDREN. Lots and lots and lots of children. This is of course understandable, but I had sort of hoped to find a place that catered to a more diverse crowd. The children are by and large cute, and some of them were dressed Halloween-y. To sum up, this is fun, but not exactly as much fun as I was looking for after being spoiled by the Ashland Berry Farm growing up in Virginia. And I probably won't go here again unless I am toting an infant.

Not much to do here. Good for a photo op and maybe for very little ones. Not for kids that want fun interaction with fall activities

A fun fall date!…read more Southern Belle Farm, located in McDonough, provides hours of wholesome fun and free parking. My wife and I arrived on a warm October day to enjoy the pumpkin patch and U-pick flowers. We arrived in the afternoon, but there was plenty of selection and nothing was "picked over." I paid $16 for a quart sized plastic vase for my U-pick flowers. They sell gallon sized buckets as well. Scissors and water are provided. Be mindful of bees in the field. They won't trouble you if you don't trouble them. There is an area in the back for you to arrange the flowers; I took full advantage of this because this trip doubled as a photo shoot. There were all types of people enjoying the farm; IG girls, families, even one couple using a wagon full of pumpkins as a baby announcement. Pumpkins range from $5-$20 each depending on size and breed. A nice young man named Luke helped us corral our pumpkins and carry them to our car. I didn't know they offered that service, but we tipped well. If you run up an appetite, they have a snack bar with fritters, ice cream, and lemonade. I'll be back next fall!

Parking was calm and plentiful and we weren't bumping into other strawberry pickers left and right. It costs about $20 for a large bucket (which you get to keep) and you pay $1 per person to access the fields. We feared we may have missed peak season but there were still plenty of ripe strawberries to choose from. It is also well organized with the staff directing where folks should go. After we picked our buckets worth, we grabbed a huge fresh lemonade from a parked truck, did some shopping in the cute store, and got a strawberry ice cream. I have to admit this was a bit of a disappointment especially based on all of the rave reviews. To us it tasted like it was pre-packaged and came from the freezer. The strawberries were frozen/rock solid and while they were plentiful it would have been great if they were softer or appeared as though it was fresh churned. Otherwise we really enjoyed the experience and can't wait to go back for picking other fruits throughout the year.

May is peak strawberry picking time in Georgia and my friends and I had been planning this trip to…read morego pick our own for over a month now. This place is cute, sweet (literally!) and an easy day trip from Atlanta - only about an hour away. Perfect for anyone, young or old. Just two things you need to know before you go: **Note that the farm is EAST of I-85**. This means if you're coming down from Atlanta, take a left turn off the exit, and it will be about a mile and a half up the road on the right. The map on this page and in Google maps is correct; the map on the farm's Facebook page and Apple Maps is wrong! They both show the farm west of the interstate and we spent some time driving around there trying to find the farm before trying the other side of the highway.** [glad we did or we would have missed out!] **CALL BEFORE YOU GO!** Every few days or so the orchard needs to close down to allow more berries to ripen for picking -- this is common for all strawberry patches. If you're driving any distance, you don't want to come all that way just to find you can't pick. If they're open, I advise arriving early so they're not over-picked the day you arrive. Current hours (as of 5/7/18) Tues, Thurs, Sat 10-6 Sun 1-5 Or by appointment Now for the experience itself: Utterly charming! Once we did find the farm, we had a lovely time. There were plenty of berries. It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon and there was a lot of space; no crazy amounts of crowds. The owners were just as lovely as can be. You collect a basket at the start and fill to your heart's content. (note: the darker the berries, the sweeter they are!) You pay by weight; I got a ridiculous amount of berries for only $10. Note that you'll be bending down a lot - strawberry plants are low to the ground, after all. But it's not a strenuous workout. Ripe berries will pop right off easily! And the patch is literally right there at the entrance where you park your car, so no need to worry about walking a long distance either. I went with two other adults and we had a grand time. There were also families there with children and they were having a blast too - so definitely pack up the kids for a day of fun out in the sun and come here.
