Looking from the red barn out to the fields.

Had a little bit of everything. Cookies, bread etc. Tons of great apples. Staff was very helpful showing us around. There are other places to go but this is a nice little no pressure place to go. Will return if in the area.

They got apple cider donuts, hot and cold apple cider, tons of stuff in the store, and APPLES! You can select from the ones they picked already or pick your own. I saw they had some sort of tractor ride too. Lots of families. Everyone was friendly.

Can you even say you ever really enjoyed the fall if you don't go to some sort of mostly outdoor venue with apples, apple byproducts, and pumpkins? Of course you can't. This is why we all load up the cars one weekend in October (or thereabouts) and haul out to wherever we see the word "barn," and then spend all our money gorging on items for the rest of the week, and hopefully planning ahead to save something for next weekend, when the craving hits us again! As Yelp rarely leads me astray, I headed up to the Big Apple Barn to do all of the above. They were sorting out apples on the drizzly day that I visited, and I (less than gracefully) maneuvered around the mud puddles in the parking lot to head inside for some delicious treats. I could've driven down to the pumpkins, but I had apples on the brain and couldn't wait to get some. I picked up a half a bushel of deliciously fresh apples, some chocolate covered pecans (because, duh, Georgia), an apple cider donut, and some hand pies to take to the family because I'm just that great of a daughter. The store was small, but the customers flowed in and out like the religious apple crop followers that we are. The prices didn't gouge, and the flavors were all delicious. Definitely a recommendation, and can't wait until the next time I am even remotely in the area so I can stop in again.

These are by far my Fav doughnut and must be eaten fresh.

After driving all around Chattanooga and going to what was advertised as an "orchard " we found most were not orchards, had very limited apples at ridiculous prices, Red Apple Barn is an absolute delight. Huge selection of apples grown on the property great prices. You can buy any variety at many size levels. Tons of great apple products too. Cider, fritters, bread, Carmel and candy apples .and you can either pick your own or get them from the barn. Highly recommend! This.

Came here years ago to u-pick. Just came today for the market still super cute. Very friendly and lots to choose from. We will be back.

My family and I had a great time at this apple orchard! For around $7 we got to go on the hayride up to the orchard (you can grab a couple apples to go included in this price) as well as grab an apple spiced donut & a cup of fresh squeezed apple cider (which was delicious!) I wanted to take more apples home so I bought the smallest bag for $4.75 which held about 8-10 apples depending on the size picked. There's also a cute little store which has an array of apple themed goodies to take home. I bought a macintosh candle & a jug of apple cider of course :) I would totally recommend taking kids, family, or friends here for a fun fall weekend activity. We really enjoyed ourselves.

I was somewhat hesitant to make the long drive after I read reviews but I'm glad I ignored them. We got there at 10 with our 2 year old and I am so glad we went early. The staff were super friendly, the value of what you get is excellent and the apples are delicious. It's also just a really nice experience. We all loved it. We are from Savannah, so I don't understand people complaining about prices. You get an Apple, a donut, cider, pick 2 flowers, the tractor ride to the orchard AND kids can paint rocks for $9. Our toddler was even free! You can't beat that. We also won a free Apple pie as a prize for finding a hidden gourd. Everyone on our tractor ride wore their mask and it honestly wasn't super crowded until we were leaving the orchard which was around 1130. I would most definitely do this again!

Such a wonderful experience. I loved hopping on a tractor ride to be dropped off to pick apples. Afterwards, with ticket of admission, it includes Apple cider and an apple cider donut. A great experience, learned a lot about the different types of apples.

Keep driving through Ellijay! The prices are very inflated and you can buy cheaper at Penland's or on the east side of town. The pumpkin patch would be nice for kids or grandkids. Save your money to buy produce elsewhere!

Another absolute must-visit when you're in Ellijay…read more Let me start with the food -- because wow. By far some of the freshest and most flavorful apple pies I've ever had. Not "good for a farm market"... just flat-out amazing. The kind of pie you immediately start thinking about on the drive home. Their produce selection is equally impressive. We're talking everything from purple carrots to vegetables I didn't even know I needed in my life until I saw them. On top of that: homemade candies, jars of jam with flavor combinations I never would have imagined, and yes -- chow chow. If you've never had chow chow, do yourself a favor and try it. Game changer. But what truly makes this place special is the people. The ladies at the register were older, sweet, hilarious, and full of personality. One of them even flirted with me -- I had to tell her, "You can't handle this ride, grandma!" The entire exchange had me laughing the rest of the visit. In the back, a group of women were playing mahjong, just enjoying life, laughing, and clearly at home in the space. That energy carried throughout the whole market. It's the kind of place that feels lived in, loved, and genuinely warm. Even the guy outside in the parking lot collecting carts, casually smoking a cigarette, was one of the chillest people I've met. Everyone there just seemed... happy. Comfortable. Real. This place put a real smile on my face. Not because it's flashy or fancy -- but because it's authentic. Good food, good people, good energy. I already can't wait to go back. If you're in Ellijay and you don't stop here, you're doing the trip wrong.

From the moment you arrive, you can tell Mercier Orchards is something special. There is so much packed into this one location that it almost feels like a small village built around apples and everything that comes with them. Inside the main store, the selection is honestly overwhelming in the best way possible -- home goods, gifts, jams, jellies, preserves, baking mixes, sauces, butters, ciders... anything and everything apple-related, plus plenty of other fruit-based goodies. It's the kind of place where you say "I'm just going to browse" and then walk out with bags of stuff you didn't know you needed. Then there's the bakery. Seven lines. All long. And all moving surprisingly well. I eventually stepped out of line after about 15 minutes, but not before getting a solid look at the pastries, pies, breads, and desserts -- everything looked incredible. Even without buying anything that round, the bakery alone is worth the stop. Now let's talk about the apple picking experience -- because this is where the magic really happens. Riding out on a trailer attached to a tractor felt like something straight out of a fall movie. The views, the air, the vibe -- it's peaceful, exciting, and nostalgic all at the same time. The apples change with the season, and the ones we picked were delicious and lasted a long time. No pesticides, just straight calcium. Fresh, crisp, and perfect. And yes... get a bag or three like I did. You're going to want them. The entire place also makes for amazing photo opportunities. Whether it's the orchard, the tractor ride, the store, or the scenery -- this is one of those spots where your camera roll is guaranteed to fill up. The only negative moment of the day happened when I went to grab some cider and one of the guys behind the counter completely ignored me. I actually had to call him out -- like, "Did you not see me standing here?" Not great. But that one interaction couldn't even come close to outweighing everything else this place offers. Bottom line: If you're anywhere in the area -- or even thinking about making a day trip -- you absolutely have to go. It's a little off the beaten path, so I don't expect most people to just "stumble" upon it... but if you plan it, you won't regret it. This is an experience, not just a stop.
