Outstanding food. I was hungry so we bought a steak and cheese, creamy chicken, mince pies, and a sausage roll. Topped it off with a custard slice and lamington. My husband is Maori - as native New Zealand as they get - and we come out here from the City because pies=goodness=just like home. I have to agree with him - they're legit! I've tried all their pies (whisper: mince and cheese, mince and cheese...), they're even better the next day. They suggest warming them up in the oven for 20-25 mins. They will be the LONGEST 20-25 mins of your LIFE! Then, when they're finally done, you can't get them into your mouth fast enough to realize you've just burned your tastebuds off. Amateur. I keep reminding myself to come back for the doughnuts. They do those on the weekends. I'm knocking a star off because they don't give you enough tomato sauce/Watties. That stuff needs to come in a pump dispenser. It's ok though - we got a supplier that keeps our family stocked. The rest of Windsor - not so lucky. read more

Great bread and meat pies! The bread here is more batch and craft made than the other major bakery that you find in most supermarkets. I won't buy anyone else's bread now that I have been here. ill rate this 3'stars until i return for my 4'pies they didnt pack in my order! that was just a waste of my gas all the way to Windsor to come back w/ half of what i ordered! I ordered 6' sausage rolls, 4' minced & cheese, 2' steak & cheese & 2' bacon & egg pies! i only returned 2'hrs driving home to see i only had 6' sausage rolls & 4' minced pies.. missing the other 4 & i paid it all already! We met the owners on a camping trip and they told us about their awesome New Zealand style bakery. On the way back from our trip we stopped in to the bakery and had some of their delicious fare. What's not to love here? Great customer service, clean and sparkling bakery and dinning area , ample parking it is most certainly a strip mall gem ! I found them by accident even though I live close by they are usually closed when I stop by after work . if you are an early morning riser this is the place to come too. Bella Rosa coffee also local, sandwiches, pastries, meat pies, sausage rolls, quiche and the most incredible bread . I intend to visit more often and try everything at least once . They close at 5 pm weekdays and early Saturday and Sunday they are down at the Local Farmers Market . I met the owner who was very informative and friendly and heard that cute New Zealand accent a Kiwi for sure! I'm not a sweet pastry dessert fan like most of my family and friends so I will let them be the judge and report back. The meat pie I had today was flavorful and the pastry was perfection ! The best I've had in Sonoma county ever ! My grandfather was a Baker so I'm pretty picky , gotta give them an amazing 5 star jump up and down, fist pump, High five review of the day! How has this New Zealand staple the hand pie not become the rage sweeping our nation ?? If anyone is going to kickstart this latent and much needed trend in on the food scene ( I'm so sick of fussy food, upscale low country cooking, candied everything with gorgonzola and bacon donut brussel sprout hash, blah blah blah that I could s*** a 40 ingredient menu description), it's ButonZ Bakery. Hallelujah, to save us from the painful spiral into overworked, over thought, over fusioned or over-deconstructed food, there are simple, hearty and DELICIOUSLY ADDICTING hand pies being made by a N.Z. native baker and wife team in a Windsor strip mall of all places - and I for one cannot think of a better reason to go to a strip mall. (There is no reason to go to a strip mall for than matter. This should be your only excuse EVER). Standouts are the sausage roll - a flaky pastry stuffed with a gorgeous savory sausage and baked inside the pastry till juicy and addicting, as well as mince meat pies ( long, slow simmered ground beef in secret spices) which is a pleasure to bite into. My favorite is the chicken pie: if you're like me and live for the perfect chicken pot pie, you'll fall happily in LOVE with this portable version that frankly, beats the pot version hands down ( well, one hand down - I was using the other to eat the pie). Just don't cal it a pot pie or Warren the owner/baker will quickly correct you with a twinkle in his eye that this is a HAND pie - NOT a pot pie :) They make equally delicious pastries which are rich but not too sweet, and the raspberry lamington is fast becoming an addiction. My 2nd fave is the custard tart with a sprinkling of toasted coconut - very simple, very old fashioned and reminds me of something my Gran would have made if she could bake as well as Warren. (Sorry Gran). Perfect for lunch, brunch, dinner, dessert, snack, gift for a friend ( if you can manage to get them to your friend's house before eating them in the car ). PS - A few have said that $6 is 'overpriced' for one of the pies but if you ordered this in a restaurant you would easily pay 10.95 to $12.95 and the only difference would be that you might get a small handful of baby greens. Also, these rich hand pies are sizable and can theoretically feed two people ( unless you're greedy like me) so you need to put this in perspective. America's ridiculous habit of providing huge portions for pennies has done nothing but create a fat and lazy nation, and cheap food has had an enormous and destructive impact on American agricultural practices as well. So share a pie with a friend or get your own and s.t.f.u. about the the six bucks worth of hand made goodness from the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! read more

As an Aussie living in the US for the past 4yrs I have searched and tried pies from LA, NYC and Seattle only to be sadly disappointing each time. I wish I could say the same about this place since they are Kiwi's haha but they were AWESOME! The best meat pies and sausage rolls in the US that I have eaten by far! I actually tried 3 pies, steak & mushroom, steak & cheese, and the mince & cheese all of which were fantastic. The crust on those things were amazing. They have many variations including the tried and true mince and cheese pie. A sausage roll with a side of Wattie's (NZ ketchup) is also a must. I seriously CRAVE these!
