I am absolutely in love with this place and coming from a place that has not so great authentic Mexican food, Tacqueria El Burrito King hit the spot. I called in ahead of time and they were ready within 10 minutes. I ordered the Burrito de Camaron with Sour Cream, Avocado, and Cheese and it was absolutely delicious. First of all, this burrito was huge and definitely could've lasted me 2 meals. The flavors were also amazing as the shrimp was grilled in its own sauce which added another salty element to the burrito. The shrimp was also extremely juicy and plentiful as there was one in each bite. The burrito was also on the wetter side which I thoroughly enjoyed, although I think next time I don't necessarily need to order another avocado. Overall, fantastic and affordable burritos and I can't wait to come back to try other ones. Also the fact that this place is open 24 hours a day is also crazy...

What a charming little spot in an alley in oldtown Salinas! I was told it was pretty good so I came a couple weeks ago to check it out. It's a family owned place and it shows. The interior is tiny but they have plenty of seats outside right in the alley, which makes it fun and interesting. They do a lot of to go orders. The menu has a lot of variety. They serve breakfast all day. I'm going to try it soon. Both times I came, I had a small combo. You can customize it if you don't see exactly what you want. I had a beef taco and cheese enchilada and it came out piping hot. The food was delicious . I requested hot salsa and is it ever hot! It made my eyes water. They happily brought me a different salsa, which was very good- you could see and taste the fresh ingredients such as onions and cilantro. The chips are not included but worth the price. The water is served in a pitcher with vegetables and fruit (lemon, cucumbers and strawberries) to infuse it with a little flavor, which I thought was a nice touch. They also bring iced tea in a carafe. The Asada tacos were flavorful and had no fat. Plenty of fresh onions and cilantro, and they asked if we wanted it first. The beans are tasty and not too cheesy. The rice was not overcooked on the edges. When the food is as good and fresh as you'd hope a Mexican restaurant would have, there's nothing to add. I would feel comfortable inviting out-of-town guests or business colleagues. I feel comfortable dining alone. Eating lunch in the alley is a fun experience. The Burrito King just earned a new regular customer

Called to place an order for pickup and she said it would be ready in 10 minutes. We arrived 15 minutes later and our order was hot and ready. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito, but add beans and cheese. It was sooooo delicious! They are huge so I saved half for later. Definitely hits the spot when you have that breakfast burrito craving!

Came here late January after painting with the kids. We were seated quickly although we were a little cold (door was open). Can't complain as the food was delicious as since we're next to the kitchen, we were warm enough. The breakfast fries are served with sautéed onions and bell peppers. The waffles were massive and satisfying! My niece ordered bacon and eggs a la carte and cleaned off her plate. The water has fruit infusion and the orange juice is fresh squeezed. Will definitely come again.

First time stopping by and a bit disappointed! Egg and Potato burrito ranges from 5.99 to a bit over 6 bucks online and on the menu but I was charged over $10 for my burrito. The eggs and potatoes were not seasoned. The potato is also just French fries as pictured. Otherwise, the burrito is a fair size and the salsa is okay. The service was also alright as well.

I have missed this place a lot. It isn't on my normal walk path so I tend to forget it. This location is tucked into an alley just off Main Street. There are about four same tables inside and a four to six outside in the breezeway plus a bonus room for parties. You can do sit down service or to-go. First time at burrito king was great, fast service and most of the workers were nice, one worker was busy so it came off as rude. But I don't think she was trying to be. Food was great fresh tasting ingredients, super filling, and great homemade salsa It was loud from the beeping of the devices used to cook, the music was nice tho. Watch out, this place will try to rip you off. I ordered a fish burrito that was listed on the menu for $7.99, and they charged me an extra two dollars when I looked at the receipt. She told me that the prices on the menu were wrong. A little late with that info. read more

My favorite here in Salinas. The service is the BEST and their food is absolutely delicious. I order take out and the order is always done super fast. I eat here at least once a week and they just never disappoint. I really cannot say good enough things about the staff. If you want to support local, this is the place to do so. read more

Very nice location in Old Town Salinas. We were able to sit outside and have a wonderful lunch (masks in place). They also offer food to go and Door Dash. My husband said the chile verde was excellent, as was my huge carnitas burrito. The corn tortillas are homemade and are the best I have ever had. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and exercising as much caution as is possible in the current environment. read more

I love El Burrito King! I usually stop by for breakfast and my favorite dish is the Chilaquiles (medium spicy). I request for them to be on the crunchy side. They are prepared with homemade tortillas and sauce. The beans are very good too! I've wanted to change it up and order other dishes but this one is hard to pass up. I've tasted the menudo and it's very good as well. The restaurant is small but they have plenty more seating down "the lane". I've always been lucky to find a table in the main restaurant. They make fresh juice and the coffee is good (it has a hint of cinnamon). The restaurant is always clean and the service is fast and friendly. I would definitely recommend El Burrito King! read more

So I was very excited to try this place, I've seen people talking about it and above average reviews for the most part. I was completely let down and let me explain why. I got an Al Pastor super burrito and it was not even close to being the best burrito I've ate. Most the meat was fat as seen in the pictures, the tortilla was just a regular one and the rest of the burrito was probably the best part. The meat was definitely not real Al Pastor, trust me I've ate at many places including Tijuana where I've ate some of the best Al Pastor and this was trash next to anything else. I also ate a piece of my brothers asada torta and it was alright, the meat had zero flavor. I drove downtown for nothing, as there are better places closer to me for the items I got. I paid about $20 for 2 items, I expected way more from a restaurant with that name. I will never step in that restaurant again. read more

This is my first time tht I visit King Burrito me and my hubby went in the lunch hour the place was full it's a very small place but it has tables inside and outside. I ordered a Super Burrito of Alpastor and the hubby ordered a Asasa Super Burrito and a side of fries. The service was fast and the server she was really nice and helpful. The burrito was very good in size and very well served the seasoning of the meat was good and the spice salsa was bomb. The only 2 things tht I don't like was they charge you $1.00 for using your Credit Card or Debit Card and the cans sodas are $2.00 I think thts a little to much but other then that I had a great experience and next time I'll pay cash read more

Amazing food!!!! Had the Bistek Ranchero one day, it comes with homemade tortillas! The best. The next time I came, I had the huevos rancheros, OMG amazing!!!! They also have great canela coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. If you're in town, this place is a must! My new spot for sure!! read more

Came here a couple weeks ago while in town and wanting a good breakfast burrito. To be honest they messed up my order that time, but the taste of my burrito was good enough that I am back for a second time as I'm in town again. This time I ordered a bacon, egg, potato, burrito and added beans and cheese, with some chips and salsa on the side. Perfect this time. Chips weren't too special and the salsa had some bite to it. It all that being said, I'd happily reorder everything the exact same. An aside: One thing that's noticeable and rare in a Mexican restaraunt is the giant flag for Israel. My group and I had a tiny debate on whether the flag was a reference to a name or actually country of origin, but I guess we won't ever know, unless I come back to Salinas and have a craving for a breakfast burrito! read more

Amazingly good and such a quaint place. It was so nice to sit outside with the beautiful potted plants and flowers and decorations. I felt like I was on vacation. Breakfast was so good. I had the nopales and eggs with homemade corn tortillas. Yum. And the cinnamon coffee was unexpectedly delicious. The owner was lovely and even filled my traveling drink cup with ice for me. All I can say is this, the next morning, I was craving nopales and eggs and cinnamon coffee!!! I wish that I lived closer. I would be at Burrito King at least twice a week. So good! read more

To be honest, I've been meaning to get a picture of their burrito bowl and I seem to forget every time it gets brought out - because it's that freaking good that I can hardly wait! Everything is super tasty and freshly made :) I order my bowl with carnitas and it's absolutely divine! They're a smaller location that can fill up, but they also do take-out. Great, friendly staff (so hard to find this good of customer service these days) they're always so welcoming and delightful. My coworkers and friends seem to branch out with what they order, and have yet to come across anything that isn't simply delicious. HIGHLY recommend this place read more

I stopped by for my first time. I am a Mexican food connoisseur of sorts so I am always intrigued to try new foods and see where the food progression is headed. This place seems like a nice spot to get some belly food meaning some grub to fill the gut. I ordered their chicken super burrito and it sure was SUPER. Man this was like enough food for 2 people. The price was good in relation to the portion size. The only issues I had was the greasiness. I'm not sure if I should expect the food to be dripping just because it's from an alley-way food joint. I'd like to believe that they should not be totally related since I've had great food at similar or sketchier locations. Overall, if you want to fill your gut. Feel free to share a super burrito with a friend from this place. read more

Decent food, bad business ethics. Went to buy something at 5 PM knowing they close at 6 PM and to my surprise I found a young employee cleaning. According to him "it was kinda slow so they decided to leave" Burrito King, here is a little advice, if you post business hours please follow them. You lost my business not this time, but forever since I don't have time to guess if you will be open. Burrito? Indeed. King? Not even close. read more

I ordered a burrito and a side of Nachos. First off, the Nacho cheese was white and did not harden, it stayed in liquid form even when cold. Not a good sign of Nacho cheese. The chips were instantly soggy within seconds of eating it. I threw most of that away. The burrito was not necessarily terrible, but it gave me the worst feeling of depression ever. Not stomach pain, I felt like my soul died. It took several hours of self-help tapes and lots of water to detox from that large glob of beans, meat, and tortilla. The employees were nice people, but I will never eat here again. read more

Nice little taco shop on a quirky alley off the main drag of old town Salinas. Walk past the antique/jewelry/pawn shop, the record shop and the salon to find this small lunch counter with a couple tables outside and about 4 inside. Definitely feels like it was a greasy spoon from way back--I can imagine a t-shirted ex-marine flipping burgers here 40 years ago. I got a taco de lengua, it was pretty darn good. Besides the usual taqueria fare, they also have some main dishes and seafood in the $10-$12 range--bistek ranchero, camarones al mojo de ajo, etc. And for breakfast, it ranges from eggs & pancakes to breakfast burritos to chilaquiles. warning--they close a bit early. The glossy 4-color to-go menu says 6pm, but found them closing up one rainy Friday at 5(!). read more

Love this place! Tiny hole in the wall with awesome Mexican food. Softest tortilla I've had on a burrito ever. It was like silk. I'm also addicted to the huevos rancheros which comes with a side of french fries smothered in ranchero sauce, really tasty re-fried beans (pretty sure there's lard in there), and rice. The dish also comes with freshly made tortillas (no kidding!). Next on my list to try would be the gigantic mocajete filled with grilled meaty goodness and nopales. They also have bacon wrapped giant shrimp. Service is hit or miss. I came here on a weekday once, and it was a one man show. I didn't mind though because I was just there for the food, which didn't disappoint. read more

Love this place, if you are near u should try this place. The Molcajete king is the best and enough for two maybe three. It is really inexpensive and their tortillas are freshly made. their horchata is really good, not overly sweetened either. read more
