The restaurant didn't seem too packed either from outside parking lot or inside, and we were immediately seated and then forgotten. I gave this place the benefit of the doubt bc I didn't see any recent reviews. The food was only okay, nothing stood out as delicious, just okay. They served chips and salsa to the table. We ordered a regular burrito and a super burrito, plus some kids food. There seemed to only be 3 ppl working: an older man, a young lady, and an older lady. Our waitress was the older lady. She was sweet, and tried to be attentive, but she just seemed to be so busy that she just wasn't able to be attentive. Stopped in after a long day on the road, and this was the only real restaurant in the area within walking distance of our hotel that was not a fast food burger joint. As we did not want to drive anywhere anymore that day to eat. It was well worth the effort amd short stroll to get there. A small family run restaurant, service was friendly and very attentive. We were greeted walking in and told a grab a seat where we liked. The hostess followed with menus in hand. We happened to be in for Oysters night, my road partner and I both are huge fans and being a stones throw inland from the ocean, it seemed a winner. It was. We ordered a dozen prepared, to start - wow, these were completely over the top. These beautys were loaded with fresh shrimp, grilled octopus and all kinds of fresh greenery; celery, cilantro, diced onions along with a side of course sea salt, fresh lemon and adobo sauce - highly recommended if they are available The other special that night, Chili Verde - that was my choice, it was very good, tender and well seasoned, the verde slightly spicy and a great tomatilla richness. We came from out of town and I was starving so I stopped to get 2 asada tacos. These were the worst tacos I had ever had. The food was cold the meat was old dry and tasted like it was on the grill for 3 days. The meat was black it had been cooked so much. There was barely any cilantro and onions on the tacos. There were quite a bit of seafood dishes on the menu- didn't get a chance to try any but they looked good. If ordering soda, you'll receive a can of soda and a cup of ice. After a long day of traveling, didn't want to go very far for dinner and found this gem in the parking lot of my motel. Have to say one of the best carne asada plates I've ever had. I was invited by some friends to try this restaurant. I was so looking forward to it. From the moment we walked in, my red flag went up. For a seafood restaurant it reeked of old fish, my 30 years in the restaurant business taught me that fresh fish doesn't smell "fishy ." Our server was a beautiful woman who gave excellent service. We ordered a sample platter with various meats. The food was dried out and not palatable! The oysters were room temperature and they were awful too. Basically, it's a sizzling platter with mixed seafood (tilapia fillet, shrimp, crab legs, scallops, mussels, etc) onion, bell peppers, zucchini, and it comes with a side of bread to soak up the yummy sauce. A half order is big enough for two. Atmosphere-wise, it's an old diner, basic and maybe slightly dingy. Loud music, mariachi band on weekends. Courteous and not overbearing wait staff. So I took my mom to this restaurant on Mother's Day, it was a last minute thing, everywhere else was a wait, or you needed a reservation to eat there, we stopped, there was a line, I walked up to the counter and asked the owner how long was the wait? He said "we have the patio open, if you don't mind the cold you can have it!" "Of course I'll take it!" I said. Not only was there no waiting time, we basically just walked right in, the patio is closed off, basically an indoor/outdoor area, the waitress was amazing! She brought everything out perfect timing, she never left us for to long and stayed attentive, and on top of our refills. The food of course was great!! My family and I discovered Los Altos Restaurant when we were moving and staying at the nearby Best Western motel and I was a little nervous about trying it thinking that it wouldn't taste great. And to my surprise "in the words of Mikey from the old Life cereal commercial" I liked it and I can honestly say I'm glad I took a chance on Los Altos Restaurant.
