Craving for taco salad and I got what I ordered but this time it's more veggies than the meat, I'm not sure if it's because they closing and my order was made to rush. Didn't even bother to offer a napkins. Run out of salsa too. By 910 the guy was already cleaning up I undestand everyone was eager to get home but as a customer you don't want to feel you being rush to finish your food. The owner/operator is probably one of the nicest people you'll meet, and you can count on a good natured joke and short genuine conversation while you wait just a couple minutes for your food. Love this place been going here for year but was disappointed tonight i tried calling at 9:30 they wouldn't answer the phones after the third time at 9:40 finally picked up didn't even give me a chance to say anything to just tell me that the cooks threw all the food away. The place is great, I come for breakfast burritos on Sunday morning. The owner opened 30min early for me. He clearly cares about his customers and is quite courteous. It's been a good two years since my last review of this spot, and it's time for an update. I upped a star because this place grew on me. It grew on me big time! My usual order is their Burrito Express with chicken and everything in it at least once a month, if not twice. I just love it! It is the perfect combination of everything you want in a burrito, nothing too fancy, no extra special sauce. That says a lot about a just-your-normal-bean-rice-meat-cheese-sour cream-burrito. Because something so simple can easily be messed up and turn out dry, or not-favorful, but Burrito Express does simple right. Oh, Guacamole is extra with an extra fee, however, it's not worth it. They give you like a teaspoon amount. I don't know why I love their burritos so much, but I can't help but to keep coming back for more! **I can't say much about the rest of the menu.** read more

Just finished my California Burrito that I just got here. It was my first time here as I been avoiding to go to this place because I was afraid to be disappointed. I was right. At first glance, it was ahuge and heavy burrito. However, after taking some bites, it was the first time I had to toss most of the burrito and I hate wasting food. The reason I disliked the burrito was because it was mostly filled with fries. It wasn't the really thin fries either. I would say it was 80% fries 20% steak. There was a point where it was mostly fries and I had to take it out to get to more meat because the fries were getting tiring to eat and filling. I want to give this place 2 stars but I'm going to be nice and give it an extra star since it wasn't the worst burrito I've eaten. Probably won't go back. read more

I began going here after middle and high school as it is closest taqueria to Milpitas high school and Russell middle school. My typical order is a carne Asada burrito or carne Asada fries. Their carne Asada has a very distinctive taste, it is not like typical carne Asada. If you are looking for traditional mexican food, it is not the place for you. I would say it is a Americanized tasting burrito. The green sauce is bomb and their pico de gallo is delicious! The place is very tiny, but they are fast and welcoming. I have never had a bad experience with their food or horchata! The price is right at 5$ for a good size burrito, I have been a faithful and loyal customer since 2002 :) read more

Ah, this was the place to go when you snook off campus in high school for lunch. Then run & hide when you see the security guards on their golf carts. But hey, this place was worth the detention, it beat the school food any day. I only come here for their chicken nachos because they're the bomb. It's something about the oil or the chips that have a sweet after taste. Shredded chicken, lettuce, sour cream, melted cheese. It's good! I also ordered the beef chimichanga because the picture on yelp looked delicious. Looked like a better version of a Taco Bell chalupa. Buttt to my disappointment it wasn't that great. The outer "shell' tasted like any other burrito from there and the beans tasted weird. And beans are beans, they shouldn't taste weird lol. Shredded beef no real flavor and that's pretty much to the chimichanga. Other than the random slice of tomato....? Brother also ordered carne asada fries and they weren't too great either. Cheapy frozen fries along with not so flavored carne. Same toppings as the nachos. I think they should fatten & change things up and at least put some fattening gooey nacho cheese sauce on top of the fries. Seems like everything I ordered had the same toppings. I've been ordering from Burrito Express 1x a week for 4 years in a row and they have never failed me; even while 3 gun men (wimps) robbed the Little Caesars next door with AKA's and cops were swarming the area with rifles, I still got my order. btw: the cops came in handy & caught the wimpy robbers 2 days later. Don't mess with Little Caesar cause its the cops second favorite place. So no they don't make the best burrito on the planet but its always fresh and good & that's why the 5 stars. I always judge a Taqueria based on the meat selections they have available. It says a lot about which clientele they tend to cater to and the authenticity of the cuisine offered. That being said my girlfriend (who doesn't know true mexican food) said lets go here, it's good! I had already suggested we go to los cunados or taqueria las vegas. She agreed but later said she wanted me to try burrito express. I gave in and said okay. Keep in mind I'm not from Milpitas so I was unaware what I was in for. Bland, disappointing, Shitty to describe it. No pastor, No Tripas, No lengua? Very Taco Bell Like. No Flavor and No Spice. If you are in Milpitas go to a real Taqueria like los Cunados in McCarthy ranch or taqueria las vegas. Real Mexican food, and a ton of true meat choices to choose from. Will never be back here. Dropped in for lunch. Had a veggie burrito minus lettuce - and was really glad to have the choice of refried beans (so many places seem not to have that option anymore). The service was fast and friendly, the burrito was ok. Nothing spectacular, but it was wrapped well, was a good amount of food considering the price, and kept me going through to dinner. read more

I finally realized that part of the reason I like the burritos so much is they put green chiles in the burritos. Also, their nachos are VERY good. Overall food quality is ok. If you're looking for a "quick" bite, give this place a shot. I would have given them 3 stars, but the last couple of experiences weren't so great. I'm not sure how they handle their ticketing, but EVERY single time it seems I'm waiting A LONG time. I'll elaborate a little more... I order a typical burrito and wait for about five minutes. Two other customers order AFTER me, but end up getting their orders before. WTF, this is one of my pet peeves in food service. Nothing more demoralizing then getting skipped over when you're starving. What makes matters worse is that the cashier clearly sees that I'm a little frustrated, but offers no "thank you for the wait" or explanation. It did not have the flavor profile I expect out of an asada taco, there was something vaguely reminiscent of teriyaki beef. The corn tortillas were ok. Definitely not house made but fresh enough. I come here for the chips! I am a huge chips and salsa fan. If I'm craving it, I'll stop by after the gym (it is right next to 24hr fitness) and just get a box to-go. The chips are not salty at all (I prefer low sodium foods) and are made fresh. It is about 2 bucks. They also give you a big styrofoam cup for the salsa bar. I got the original burrito because I didn't really want the extra carbs from rice and fat from sour cream in the express burrito. Was a little disppointed they didn't have al pastor or pollo asado, but they had carnitas and shredded chicken. (I'm not a huge fan of shredded meat). So I got the carne asada original burrito and got some salsa and medium sauce. The burrito was pretty big! The beans had a lot of flavor and the carne asada was really good, not too tough or dry. The only problem I had was that it was a little hot for me inside. I produce a lot of heat myself so I'm pretty sensitive to heat and was sweating inside. I seriously LOVE this place! The Express burrito is so good! And I love the shredded beef here! I've gotten a chimichanga before but it wasn't as good as the express burrito. The pico de gallo here is on point and pairs perfectly with the burrito. I was introduced to this place from a classmate of mine back in high school, we had spanish class together, so just about every week he would take our orders and we would have food from here every Friday. This was like 2005-2006, yeah a while back and I still go here for burritos. My mom isn't a fan of mexican food, but she loves the burrito and pico from here. To this day, I still go here. This place is the best spot for fast AND quality Mexican food. The Asian cashier, Rainier, is always super friendly even after a long day of working in food service. I always order either chicken nachos, chimichangas, burrito expresses, and whatever Rainier recommends. Locals come here from all over and employees in the plaza come here too! This is how you know burrito express is quality. I love how Rainier asks how my day is. That's the first sign of excellent customer service. He evens follows with a "have a nice day/night" which always leaves me feeling full and happy. Another review referred to Rainier as a "wannabe gangster". He's DEFINITELY not that. He's a sweet, kindhearted soul that works his butt off in a fast-paced, high-stressed industry. Understand that we all have our off days. I come here for the quality food and even better service. It's loaded w/ rice beans & your choice of carne asada, carnitas, chile verde, chile colorado, beef or chicken. It also comes w/ cheese & sour cream. It's $4.75 & huge!! I've had the chicken & carne asada, both excellent. They have a salsa/sauce bar so you can add your own or fill little containers to take home. A co-worker has ordered the taco salad & it looks really yummy too. This is a tiny place w/ a small amount of seating & not much ambience, seems pretty noisy.
