My rating is solely based upon the customer service. I feel like it was subpar. I am a visitor from out of town and felt the bland atmosphere as I entered the store. Heard great reviews of the croissants and the many treats they offer. I would have given four or five stars rating because of the flavor options and the taste of the croissants. We only ordered 6 to 8 croissants but received them in Styrofoam boxes. As a visitor I would have loved to received a signature box for a nice more memorable experience. The ordering system is very easy. It is manual so you're able to pick your flavors which are over 15 different ones to choose from. When I received my Styrofoam box of three they seem to not be placed in there with love just put in a box. However, if I am back in town, I would definitely try some different flavors. My favorite one was plain and apple so far.... the mango was good it just was a little too artificial for me, but I would not hesitate to try other flavors. read more

My one star is solely based on service and how you treat people. We had family in town from Florida and we have raved about Burney's and how amazing the croissants are...so of course while they were here we made a trip to Smithfield to get them some. Yes we had 12 people. Yes their building is extremely small on the inside. But 6 people were sitting in the seats along the wall, 1 of us was waiting outside on the phone and the rest of us were standing up waiting for our two boxes of croissants to be given to us. We were standing there talking and waiting and looking around at the other items when i assume the owner (male) rudely walked out from the back and came to where we were and said if you are waiting can you move away from our display because the whole point of it is for people to be able to see what we have and you are blocking the view. Never did anyone come in when we did not move over to the side. There were only two other families checking out while we were there waiting. I would say it was a Great Rude first experience for our out of town guests and a guarantee that we will never be back. There are ways to handle things and you sir missed the opportunity today!!! read more

Picked up an order of mini croissants on yesterday afternoon. I asked the young lady before purchasing them if they were fresh she said yes they make them fresh daily. I get home had one and they were dry as paper, my daughter had one and said the same thing. Today I called and spoke with the mgr Marie and explained to her that the product wasn't fresh but rather dry. She went on to say that they don't have bakers there all day baking fresh products and if I want fresh products I should come earlier in the day. My response was that they should tell customers that products will taste stale and not fresh if purchased later in the day. She became very defensive when I asked for a refund, or a replacement box. Burney's Sweets & More was recommended to me while in Smithfield. It is located near the outlets. When I walked in there was a form to fill out which croissants you wanted. But then I saw items in the cases I wanted to try to so when it was my turn to order I mentioned the items I wanted from the cases and then gave the croissant form. The worker came back with two boxes but it was just the glazed croissants and not the other items. I wasn't charged for the items I didn't receive but next time I will make sure the order is complete before I leave. read more

I wasn't expecting much since I have not had a glazed croissant before, but oh my goodness they are too good. They look like shiny croissants, but are oh so tender and mouthwatering. The glaze is applied evenly so each bite creates the same delicious experience. A patient brought them to the clinic for us. I only ate one, but I wanted to keeping eating them. I liked how they were not overly sweet and they weren't greasy. I definitely recommend this establishment to others and would stop here if I was in Smithfield. Wow!!!! I ordered the specialty Oreo croissant and it was amazing!!!! It is a glazed croissant with buttercream filling, chocolate icing on top and Oreo crumbles. It kind of reminds me of a donut, but not really. It was very good and I will now want to stop here every road trip. My husband ordered the coconut filled croissant and he enjoyed it. I love this place more and more every time I go. I'm just mad I just found about it recently. We went to get a couple dozen of their legendary glazed croissants for a work party. Everything in the display case looks so good, and they have way too many options. We got a dozen of the assorted variety of the custard, cream, chocolate, cherry, apple, lemon, chocolate cream, Reese's, powdered, and of course a whole dozen of the classic regular glazed croissant. Slightly crispy on the outside and perfectly sweet. They were they highlight of the party and of course there were none left over at all. Today I decided to write this review after the fifth or sixth time going in and hearing the worker being disrespectful. I never caught her name- but if you go in you'd know it's her. They are known for those croissants. They are heavenly. They come plain or filled. The sell cakes by the slice or whole and those seem to average $25 a cake. The place is really clean but not a lot of sitting room. You will probably want your order to go. The macaroons are the best I have ever tasted. I would like to try every flavor they make. The food is the BEST- the customer service, the worst. The manager there is rude and grouchy. I called to pre-order some croissants and was telling him the flavors I wanted and he interrupted me and said HOW MANY? If he would've just listened to me, I was telling him. And then when I got there, they weren't ready but maybe that's how they do it. They also spelled my name wrong on the birthday cake and got the color wrong. They also have a great no added sugar cheesecake that is every bit as good as Cheesecake Factory. And actually they top it because at Cheesecake Factory there is one option with no added sugar. Here there is sometimes a key lime no added sugar cheesecake that is to die for!
