    Inspiration cake photo given

I really never usually leave reviews but this was such a let down, I felt it necessary. Ms B was not very transparent about her skill level, cost of decor, and ability to deliver something similar to inspiration photos given. I exchanged over emails, photos and discussion about the inspiration photo above and I explained my daughter was wanting a Taylor swift themed cake. For the cake shown she refers to it as a triple layer cake and gave a price of $90 and it would serve something like 12 people. Since my daughter's birthday party is only about 8-10 people, I asked if there was a way to maybe do something serving closer to the parties needs. She stated she could do a 2 layer WITH the decor for $75. She sent an invoice over and I immediately paid a total of $80. Ms B never expressed that she was unable to do certain or any parts of the decor she just said this size cake WITH decor.. such and such price. So I had no reason to believe I wouldn't be receiving something similar to the inspiration photo given. Unfortunately when I picked up the cake this is what I received. It was nothing like the inspiration photo with the decor.. when she showed me the cake it was missing the word "Lover". I asked if she could put the word "Lover" on the cake just as displayed in the photo and she stated "that's not on the cake, someone put a photoshop word there in the picture, do you want me to do it now" So I said yes please if you could add it. I had my daughter with me for the pick up so I called Ms B when I left and let her know I wasn't expecting anything, but I just wanted to let her know of my disappointment. I spent $80 on this cake to receive a 6" cake with close to none of the decor shown similarly in the inspiration photo. There was simply 2 macaroons stuck on the cake and few butterfly's along with the happy birthday signage. I let her know I wasn't aware that she wouldn't be able to add the geometric hearts or any kind of hearts, or the pearls or all the piping like is seen in the photo. She explained to me that to do the hearts she would have to make chocolate molds and it would cost more, the decor would've cost more. That was never discussed in the initial communications, had I've known I had to pay extra to get certain decorations, I would've. Ms B's only solution was that I could just bring the cake back and get a store credit, leaving me the night before my daughters birthday with no cake, or I could bring it back and pay extra to add the extra decor and it also wouldn't be ready for the following morning, which is my daughters party. It was really disappointing. From the lack luster cake costing nearly $100 and the lack of understanding and customer service from a business owner. I spent time searching different bakeries, and looking through Ms Bs work displayed on her website and Google, and what I took home looks like it's been done by a completely different person. There was no skill or effort put into this cake compared to the other work I've seen photos of on her site. I will personally not be going back to an establishment that takes money without conveying their skill level, ability, or cost.

I ordered the biscoff cheesecake. Not only did it look beautiful, but it was good! I missed my pickup time & Ms. B was very forgiving.

JP's is a dedicated gluten-free kitchen but you probably knew that already. I am not a gluten-free…read moreperson but I live with a few. Most gluten-free store-bought items taste like sawdust and cardboard. Not here. I can say with certainty that the baked goods here rival gluten containing baked goods. Their oatmeal or chocolate chip creme sandwiches are my favorite. Cinnamon roles a close second. If you're trying to keep your house gluten free without making non-gluten-free household members sad from low quality poor tasting GF food...then this is where you need to shop. I can certify that I am not sad eating GF goods from here whereas I am with popular name brands such as Udis. As a West Virginian, I have rarely seen pepperoni rolls made outside of WV except here. For them to be gluten free I've never seen anywhere else. They are exceptional especially if you put them in a toaster oven and let the cheese melt and the pepperoni sizzle and the bread get a little toast on it. This is an extremely small shop with no public restroom. Most of the items are frozen but they do have fresh daily offerings. They will heat up items for you such as a cinnamon roll if you can't wait to get home, just ask! As with all things GF, there is a GF-tax. It is expensive. But again, most GF people are not surprised they have to pay a little extra. JP's shows you why it's worth it though.

We were pretty impressed at the large variety of gluten-free items (e.g., pies, rolls, bread, cakes, Mac n Cheese, Chicken Nuggets, etc.). The pies we got were both very good. The apple pie had a lot of delicious crumbles on top. We pre-ordered the pies so they were ready when we dropped by for pickup.

We had a variety of flavors, including chocolate, red velvet, vanilla, and lemon, and every single one was delicious. The cupcakes were unbelievably moist, and the frosting was so light, creamy, and flavorful. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. They disappeared so quickly that I didn't even get a chance to take any pictures! After trying the cupcakes, I checked out their social media and saw they offer a wonderful variety of desserts. I also learned that their cakes are made by pre-order, and after tasting these cupcakes, I'll definitely be keeping them in mind for future birthdays and celebrations. If their cupcakes are any indication of the quality of their cakes and other desserts, I know they'll be amazing. Highly recommend!

The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, and the staff was pleasant from the moment we walked in. Even during breakfast hours, there wasn't a long wait. The shop itself is beautiful. There's an antique cash register near the counter that adds so much character, and I love that the menus are handwritten. Their merchandise is really cute, and they also make gourmet marshmallows. Everything in the case looks and tastes gourmet and made from scratch. They even offer wedding cakes. My total for breakfast for myself and coworker came to $18, which I found very reasonable. The iced Americano was strong in the best way. You can actually taste the espresso, and it didn't taste watered down or cheap at all. The only downside is that they don't serve whipped cream for iced coffee. The almond croissant was perfect. Sweet and buttery on the inside, crunchy on the outside with that lightly crisp, sugary layer that gives i texture. It was balanced and done just right. Overall, a solid breakfast spot with quality pastries and great pricing. I'd definitely stop in again.
