The whole experience was a nightmare. I've worked with MANY staffing agencies, and this is by far the worst! I worked with Angela M., and while she seemed nice at first - things got ugly fast! My initial visit to the office went well. Angela reviewed my resume, and although she didn't have much knowledge of basic marketing, financial, and administrative terminology, she promised that she would look for a professional position for me. It wasn't long before she pushed me into doing temporary administrative work.
This was all fine because I was receiving a paycheck and continuing to look for professional work on my own. I have no problem working hard for my money, and I was doing just that - completing temp assignments with great feedback from clients. However, it was unfortunate that I ran into a very difficult boss who decided to call Angela M. and complain about me. Angela immediately called me, scolded me, and refused to listen to my side of the story. The whole time this "professional" recruiter was using poor grammar. This firm is very unprofessional. They broke numerous employment laws when dealing with me. They gossiped about me with other staffing agencies, they lied to me, they belittled my clothing and appearance, hassled me when I tried to get my last paycheck - the list goes on and on... Sound like a bad experience? Yes it was!
I get calls from staffing agencies at my office soliciting their services all the time. They are very pushy and they won't let up. I've tried to explain that we don't work with recruiters because I've been lied to by many as both the candidate, and the client. They continue to call and try to convince me that their firm is "different." I even received a call from Burnett Staffing... My company hires candidates directly, we bypass the staffing agency, save time, and in the end everybody is much happier!
I do not recommend going to Burnett Staffing or anywhere else. Staffing agencies are infamous for lying to people, giving out useless career advice, and using their power over job seekers in a negative and hurtful manner. No matter what they say, recruiters do not care about the candidate or the client. They want to place bodies into positions so they can get paid their commission checks.
UPDATE: I signed up for Yelp, so I could share the huge mistake of signing up with Burnett Staffing with other job seekers. It's definately up to the individual to decide whether or not s/he wants to utilize their service.
For some reason my review has been filtered twice even though it is a very honest picture of what happened. Ahem...an average rating of two out of five stars from other Yelpers.... Yes - my review is accurate thank you very much! : ) : ) : )
I would recommend documenting everything that Burnett says and does if you find yourself working with this company. As stated above, numerous employment laws were broken when they were dealing with me. Employment laws are in place to protect the rights of the people.
The fact that Burnett overstepped the boundaries of the law with me, set my back career-wise, and was quite a drain. Remember guys - document, document, document!!! : ) read more
