Well, unless another wedding invite graces my mail box, there's no way I could get in. To get on the waiting list for membership is $25k on it's own. Plus, I don't wear my pants up at my armpits or take dinner before 5pm. The view is gorgeous. You can see the Grouse Grind and Vancouver from the expansive patio that faces the course. The greens look like they're kept in immaculate form. (I wonder if there's a wee little garden gnome out there in the early morning hours grooming them with a pair of shears! What else would they do with all those annual dues?) The staff is friendly, professional and on top of their game. They were awesome about bringing vegetarian dishes to the lone vegetarian at our table and kept the drinks coming! The food was decent. It's exactly what you'd expect at a golf course, although, as I mentioned, I was there for a wedding, so we possibly were privy to an exclusive menu - Shrimp Cocktail? Lobster thermidor? Dim sum dumplings as appetizers? Don't mind if I do!

We can choose where to sit and the servers will bring the orders looking at the table number card. The cashier and server's attitude were not overly friendly. It was like more concession stand mood. But it's ok. Because it's public place and no frills. We ordered two pieces of Cod Fish and chips. It was alright. the patio was surrounded by beautiful flowers and they add more depth for the dishes. The view is wonderful, too. They have carpet indoor dining room but I highly recommend outside seats.

The view from the clubhouse was very pretty, especially when flowers were in bloom. You could dine indoors or out at the patio. As it was a nice evening, we decided to sit outside. It is not really a full service place. You go to the counter to place your order and they will bring the food out. Maybe they are also short staffed but many tables were not cleared when we were there. I had the burger with fries which was ok, nothing outstanding. S had the hot wings which he did not really like. He said my burger was better. I had also walked the trail a few years ago and you do have to be careful and watch where you are going. Go with someone as it can be very quiet inside the area.

I have always enjoyed pitch and putt but it is quite hard to find friends who are interested in it. I finally found some people who are regular golfers and don't mind pitch and putt too. Things have definitely changed. I remembered the course as being smaller or maybe just 9-hole? Or it has always been 18-holes? My recollection is not the most accurate now but I did remember just having a putter and ball and tee. Not necessary to have min 3 clubs or a bag like now. You need a putter, pitching wedge, iron 7 and 9 all in a carry bag now. It's still a good idea to have at least 2 balls in case you lose it. Weekends are busy, in both the carpark and pitch and putt. There were several groups ahead of us and we waited at least half an hour before it was our turn. If you do not like waiting, come during the weekdays. I had fun here and it was a pretty good workout. You can get close to 10k steps here going through all 18-hole.

The previous two reviews does this magnificent golf course no justice - surely you can't truthfully judge its merit based on the breakfast or buffet it serves? Marine Drive is designed by A.V. Macan and has been known as the home of Champions. It is a course to be challenged upon because you will really have to focus your shots as the fairways are narrow and the greens are fast - all thanks to its constant and meticulous course manicure. There are always a lot of tournaments within the club and the club encourages its members, and especially the Juniors to participate in cross-club and national tournaments. I always feel the pressure when the Juniors are whipping their shots that make beautiful sounds when the ball slice the air...juxtaposed with my Micky-mouse and the occasional "topping the ball" shots. Even if you are a non-member you still have the opportunity to enjoy this course, so long as you are invited by a member as a guest. And regardless how good or bad you are, just remember this course can humble the strongest player and so enjoy the time out and grab a glass of wine on the patio after. Cheerio!
