I felt like a bull in a china shop (I'm one of 3 people who still use that phrase). Younger guy at the counter was an arrogant dick as soon as I walked in the place BUT it's also the only place I've ever been to since 2006 where you can buy "incense" on credit so 3/5 stars... plus one star for the older guy who probably owns the place. Met him on my return trip and he was waaay cooler to deal with. Again, the only issue was the younger guy, maybe he just had an off day. Not cool to take out your personal issues on the guy helping to pay your rent. read more

Good shop if you need a pack of screens, or a new slide, or some unusual wraps. They sell a bunch of incense and bob marley gear in the front part of the store. You can go into the back room and look at pricy bowls and entry level water pipes. They sell vaporizers. You're better off getting that sort of stuff online, in my opinion. The people that work there are hyper paranoid and unfriendly... but hey, if you need a glass screen - there it is. More reasonably priced than Daddy's or whatever the hell it's called. read more

This place moved to the center of Alston by the Sports Depot. Great selection, really good prices, and the guy who owns it is sweet as anything. Hope the store is open for ever. He was really warm and funny. When it came to his merchandise, he was very professional. I came in, got what I wanted and left. I found prices reasonable and the selection great. Not what it could be... If you want to buy something at full price and enjoy the faults in the glass,then this is the store for you. I bought two glass devices on different occasions, both at full price,as haggling doesn't happen anymore, to only find out months after use that there are some defaults in the glass. If you do shop here,you will find a lot of what you want for a "reasonable" price,but you have to make sure that what you've gotten doesn't have any factory defaults. They will sell you the faulty device at full price without maybe prior knowledge themselves that the device has faults. read more

Cool shop, I purchased a great quality Kannastor grinder here because I had needed one immediately. I usually check reviews and prices before I purchase anything, but this time I didn't. After my purchase, I found the same one online for about the same price, so I feel confident that they do not jack up prices and they provide great knowledge of their products. Sorry i ever said anything nice about this place.... The negative reviews were right on the money.... And i dont know who Mark G is but i used to feel just like him.. Till NOW Ive been polite ive been decent and i have NEVER talked about anything Illegal in the store... I am far from any sort of butt hole of a person. Just calling it like i'm now seeing it. I was quoted prices on a large quantity and then he backed out of those prices he quoted me for cartridges. to try and get me to pay 100 dollars more at his store for my cartridges than i would at the online store. So rather than the usual deal he gives me. I left and wished him a nice day..Said good bye nothing vulgar left with one pkg of cartridges.. And Chose NOT TO TAKE HIS DEAL. I PAYED THE FULL 15 bux. It wasn't worth the aggro.. When i went back to BUY ONE more package of cartridges i showed him a receipt for ones i had bought because he made it out like i was lying to him about the price i was paying. The previous time i had been there.. it bothers me to be called a liar when i am not lying.. I used to have alot of respect for Brian and i did believe same as Mark G. That the place was getting a bad rap for no good reason.. WAY better now. The people behind the counter are much nicer, helpful and much more friendly, at both locations. They even cut me a deal on my recent purchase and I got a better price than anywhere else I called within a 30 minute drive. I've experienced bad customer service at this place, but they seriously cleaned up their act in the past several years. Seriously give it another chance. Even the place in Allston is much better. Just don't be stupid, and know what you're not supposed to say. Some things should STAY buried. Yes, this is truly a buried treasure in Boston--if your idea of treasure is antagonistic costumer service, inarticulate employees, and general unpleasantness! When I went to this location to buy Salvia, the employees asked who it was for. Fair enough; I showed him my ID and expected a normal transaction to occur. What happened instead was I was told to leave the store, with an employee following me and trying to intimidate my friend and I. Buried Treasures sucks, but unfortunately it's pretty much the only head shop left after the Joint, Greenside up, and others have been closed down the the 50. It lacks any heady glass but they have some cool accessories and equipment. It's disappointing but it's a hell of a lot better than sugar daddies and well the Hempest is a joke, but props for being one of the few mildly decent head shops in the greater Boston area. Note to all: Like all head shops, if you don't know what you're talking about you're going to get ripped off. I will never spend a dime here after what happened to me yesterday. Some friends and I walked in to look around, and after a few minutes were looking at some pipes. I literally started selling my friend on THEIR product ("this thing is awesome, you put some bud into here and...") when I was abruptly stopped. "TOBACCO", the owner started yelling. I had said it so casually that neither my friend nor myself knew what he was talking about. He kept yelling it at me. Over. And over. I honestly thought it was telling me I needed to buy some tobacco. "You said BUD, are you trying to GET ME SHUT DOWN?" "No, I'm sorry, I didn't think about it, I didn't mean anything by it." "It doesn't MATTER whether you meant anything by it. You wanna GET THE LAST PLACE LIKE THIS SHUT DOWN?" And seriously, this back and forth kept on at least 10 more times, with me clearly conceding that I had done something wrong while trying to save face. He wouldn't let it go. By the end of it he had made me feel like crap in front of the whole store. We were planning on spending a bit of money, since I normally like supporting local head shops, and in my experience they're always really nice and helpful people. Not this time. I understand the guy's situation, but telling me once would have sufficed. Me friend and I walked up to our other two friends and said they could do what they wanted, but we weren't going to support people like this. Consistently terrible experiences with the Boston store. I have never been to the Allston location so I can't speak on that. I'm not stupid, I don't go in there and make any suggestions that I'm doing anything illegal. I am polite and respectful. I do my best to remain pleasant and non-sketchy but am treated, every time I step foot in that store, like I am unwelcome. I've never been kicked out but I am made to feel like every question is a major inconvenience. Asking for their time/asking for help is like asking someone for a free pack of cigarettes- the look, the tone, it all borders on disgust. Terrible customer service- the employees are obviously high and therefore extremely slow and unresponsive. You don't feel welcomed at the store- you feel like you're interrupting their conversation with your presence. You have to slow down your talking speed or they will ask you "hmmmmmm...?" That means repeat yourself. Extremely overpriced, especially the salvia and kratom. Unfortunately, we don't have too many options in Boston. Just buy online and save yourself the inconvenience. It's not like it's a nice store environment to be in to browse- it's very tight. I give 1 star for existing. 1 star for its location. 1 for having salvia and kratom. Buried Treasures currently operates 2 locations, this Haviland Street location, as well as an Allston location. I am a regular customer of the Boston location, and probably am in there 3-4 times a week. I registered here because I was outraged by the long comment about the bad service, because of the 200+ times I have been to this location to purchase products I have never received anything that hints dis-respectfulness. The employees are fantastic and will help you, if you don't go in there and act like an idiot. On several occasions I have been in there and people are making the business hard to run by either asking blatantly innapropriate questions, and getting angry for no reason. The best suggestion, go in there, be polite, ask for a product if you would like to purchase, or examine to see if you would like to purchase. Also as for prices, Buried Treasures has some of the most reliable and highest quality products. I have NEVER received a product that was damaged whatsoever, or didn't function. If you go in there and act like an idiot, the employees are going to get mad, as would any business. If you are looking for a reliable and reasonably priced store in boston, Buried Treasures is where it is at. This is by far my favorite store in Massachusetts, and I have been to stores from rhode island, all the way to new hampshire, and have never received the quality or price of products as reasonable as here. I have a strong feeling that some of the comments left were targeting the store possibly by a rival buisness, or a customer who was told off for doing something wrong. (And you really have to be out of line for them to say anything to you). This store is my favorite store, and I will remain a loyal customer forever. This place Is terrible. There is no such thing as customer service or even manners. When I go in here, I feel unwelcome like im inconveniencing them to be shopping. I have heard one particular guy (not sure of his name) cuss out and threaten customers. He's such a douchebag! Their glass is poor quality and overpriced. When there are so many better places to go in Boston, I won't waste my time here again. Sugar daddy's at kenmore has a great selection. The owner is so friendly and welcoming. Green side up also has awesome glass and are super friendly too. They both have a totally different vibe and better products. Forgot to write a scathing review of my past experience. This happened over a year back and MAY not reflect what this store is like presently. Went in to purchase glass for my ROOR, and was browsing the selections. Made the briefest of eye contact with one of the employees and he gets in my face immediately, saying if you make eye contact with someone, it's polite to say hello. Agreed. But stated in such a way I'm not going to bother. Try to walk out and he's still on some bullsh*t. So I, against my better judgment, play right into his hands and exchange a couple words. We rage for a little bit in store, then I turn around and walk away. He proceeds to follow me out the door ready to throw down. All the while, I can hear the other employees, not trying to contain his behavior, but egg him on. Considering the nature of the store, it won't take many guesses to the state of mind I was in. Not wanting to throw down, I forget about it and just calmly walk away. Tightly wound for employees of a head shop if you ask me. I'm shocked to see all the negative reviews about Buried Treasures, my boyfriend and I have been going to buried treasures for over a year now and we have never had a bad experience with them, Their customer service is outstanding they always show respect and greet you when you enter, I friggin love Buried Treasures. I've never had a bad experience with the staff they are always willing to help me out when I come through, This whole thing about how the place looks sketchy is so false, its clean and small but not that tight, I think some of these Yelp reviewers are natural born Haters. If your an idiot who is over the age of 21 but brings friends who are clearly not into the store then yes you might have a bad experience , or If your constantly screaming out words like weed, bong and marijuana then yes you might not like it in there... I have been to many headshops and smoke shops in many places and have never been so disrespected ever. Let me explain my experience at Buried Treasures. I walked to the store after Google searching where to find a whip to a Da Buddha Vaporizer. I read mixed reviews about the place and figured it was a smoke shop and was to be expected. Upon entering I was first surprised by the amount of products they had packed into such a small space which is a great thing as I figured that this could become my primary smoking store. There were at the time two other groups in the store, even so the gentlemen behind the counter at the back asked if I needed any assistance. I told him that I was browsing and was fine for the moment. After the other two groups had left about 2 minutes later, the same man came up to me whilst I was looking at cleaning solutions and stated that he noticed that I was watching what his other customers had been purchasing, shocked at this I replied that I was merely browsing and not watching. He informed then that he was "having a real bad day and that I should come back another time." Infuriated by this I told him in a polite manner that I hope you have a better day and left the shop empty handed. Whether he thought I was a cop or something I don't know but I know that this is no way to treat a customer and I will never be returning to this store nor recommending it to any of my friends. Never shopping at this store again.. I have been going there regularly for years.. Depending on who is working when you arrive, at best you may be given minimal customer service with a we are doing you a favor attitude or they will just simply take your money and hope you leave as quickly as possible so they can get back to whatever else they do in there. I put up with there high prices and attitude only because it was close to my office. Last week, I bought a itiem as a replacement piece for a product I bought there 6 months ago. After the purchase, I asked the employee for help putting the piece in. He said No I don't do that. I said I am afraid it will break. if I do it. since I am not sure how it fits. He said well the boss told me that is not my job and you can figure it out.. I said ok well I will be buying my future products at another shop I named. He said fine go ahead. They have a bit of a monopoly given their location but after certain laws change in a few years I hope they are driven out of business. I am not a punk and I have always been friendly and patient withthe help. But thsi lack of customer care was the final straw for me. read more
