I must say that after eight years of living in the neighborhood spending thousands of dollars at Burgerville I had my worst experience with the manager Rachel. She said she's an executive. She showed her badge off fault with me in the drive-through with cars behind bad customer service over a smoked chipotle sauce And the price other another manager helped me at first and then she walked over and said she need to have a meeting with the person that did not insist that I touched the button on the machine. I must say this arrogance made me bring my receipt back to get a refund. Second stop in Vancouver - Burgerville. I don't care what anyone says In-N-Out ain't got SHIT on Burgerville. I know I am probably going to be hunted down and killed now, but seriously, Burgerville is ah-ma-zing. The thing I like about Burgerville, for one, is that they offer more than just burgers (am I the only one who thinks In-N-Out should do a chicken or turkey burger?!). The other thing I like about Burgerville is that it's all (or mostly) local ingredients. They are all about supporting the Northwest as they are a Northwest exclusive place. They also recycle, compost, use wind power, blah blah - all that NW hippy shit that rules. I enjoy their seasonal items and milkshakes. I get bored a lot, so it helps keep me coming back. I'm looking forward to the pumpkin and hazelnut stuff ALREADY for the fall. But, my go-to item is the plain ol' cheeseburger. They are similar to In-N-Out in that they use a special spread on them. But, I personally think they are better. Maybe because I have a special place in my heart for everything NW, or maybe because they just are better. This Burgerville is #1!!!!! Seriously - It's the 1st store in the Propstra Holland Empire of deliciousness. And because it's in my neighborhood, I feel compelled to give it almost all (of what remains) of my fast food business. Once one experiences this fresh, local, and a good run at sustainable business, it's hard to go anywhere else. Yes, it's a little more expensive than typical burger joints - but you're paying for quality. It's real (tillamook!) cheese and the milkshakes aren't watered down like most places. (Side note, I long for the days when Fresh Raspberry Milkshakes are "in season".... sigh) The crew here is wonderful - they're always in a good mood (or fake it really well) whenever I visit and my orders are delivered promptly. It's a really personable group, and it's nice to see familiar faces. I'll be honest, I didn't realize how lucky we are to have such a great place until I moved away for college. The end for me was 'The Colossal'. I'm a guy who when he gets his fast food burger, I take it apart to rearrange all the toppings and get ready for deliciousness. When I opened 'The Colossal', I was surprised to see what I thought was a swath of mustard. It's known for special sauce, so I thought 'What's that doing here?'. On closer inspection, I discovered it wasn't mustard - it was the tiniest, most paper thin piece of cheese ever made. It's the tiny cheese they use in there entry-level cheeseburger (which is pretty good - BTW) which is much smaller. Somehow, a burger named 'The Colossal' comes with the 'minescule' cheese from it's baby brother burger. The name's BURGERville, right? Wrong. Burgerville is expending all of it's energy being green and trying to market and execute monthly specials that have nothing to do with burgers at all. Great - the package is compostable (good on you), how's the damn burger taste? Underwhelming. Prices are already much higher than any other place - all to pay for the packaging and 'green' image. Burgerville recently, over the last several months, implemented a drive-thru marketing gimic. Where you pull up and the speaker plays an advertisement, usually of someone sounding happy and selling a product. Then someone else comes on to take your order. This has caused me to leave the drive-thru a few times. I dont have time to wait for some marketing message, nor is it welcomed. The annoyance is to the point of picking other locations to eat. How would you feel, if everytime you walked into a location, someone came up to you and spoke their advertisements. With no way to escape, you have to listen, forced uncontrollably to hear about services or products you don't care about. No sir, I will pass!
