The burger was bland but the chili on top was the perfect combination & if the burger was salted, it would have been too salty. The burger was awkwardly constructed. The burger was thrown on top of the two buns with a huge scoop of chili plopped on. There was no way it would have been eaten without utensils. Awesome local greasy spoon! 2 eggs, bacon, home fried potatoes, toast and coffee is like $5.50. Just hop on one of the 5 stools in the place and watch them whip up your meal. It's cramped when you get too many people in there, but that adds to the charm of this place, in my opinion. Classic diner style bacon cheese burger on the hot top with diner style fries. The chicken kebab sandwich was also tasty. This is a no frills, I'm hungover and am in need of grease, don't wanna talk to anyone and am too lazy to cook my own breakfast spot. Just had their breakfast special- 2 scrambled eggs, home fries, toast and coffee-it can come with bacon, ham, or sausage and they were able to give me turkey sausage. Came out to ONLY $6 (this included tax and I believe it's from 6 am-10 am) Eggs=cooked perfectly with great texture home fries =delicious and not overly seasoned toast=perfectly toasted without an overwhelming amount of butter Turkey sausage=not salty and nicely seasoned. Needed a place to eat at after spending a few hours at the Met and found this hole in the wall on Yelp that served a wide variety of foods. The prices are a little expensive, but not surprising given it's located in the upper east side of Manhattan. There was three of us that had visited and we got a turkey burger, wrap, and gyro plate. The food itself was tasty and got to us in a timely manner so no complaints here! The one down side I had was the restaurant itself was a bit of a tight squeeze. It fit us perfectly when we were one of the few customers but once more people came in it was a bit crowded and difficult to get out, but nothing that down plays the actual food itself. Stumbled upon this place kind of by accident. Its a little bit of a hole in the wall, but thats what intrigued me to stop in. Seating is limited. Its basically 2 counter tops with maybe 10 seats or so. They have a pretty wide menu, basically composed of breakfast, American sandwiches/burgers, and Mexican. I had the pork tacos and they were amazing and they were not very expensive. I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu. read more

Met up with friends who came down from Albany to visit the MET. decided to grab a bite and happened to stumble upon this gem. We each ended up getting tacos and fries. I really enjoyed the fries, crispy on the outside, warm and soft (not too soft) on the inside. The chicken tacos was really good and tasted oh so authentic. YUM! A Nice little greasy spoon on the UES. The space is tight, consisting of a lunch counter with stools and a 2nd counter with stools on the back wall. The food more than makes up for the tight shop. The burgers here are super juicy, fresh and just amazing. I eat here quite often and the HUGE 8 oz burgers are always perfectly cooked ( I like mine medium rare). I usually get a burger with guacamole, cheddar cheese and bacon. No fancy specialty sauces needed, the burgers speak for themselves. All this goodness for around $7.50 Ive also had the chicken tenders which are also quite good. The meat was tasty and cooked properly, the toppings were fresh and the fries were crisp and tasty and served without any salt on them, just like I like them, so I can salt them myself. Went to this place hoping for Mexican style burgers and it exceeded all expectations. The meat was fresh as were all of the other ingredients. Crucially, their avocado was perfect. The portions are very generous. The service was also top notch. I forgot to order jalapeños on my burger and asked for them after I had already paid. The cashier lady told me I would have had to have ordered the jalapeños before paying, because they cost extra. But then, she went out of her way to make sure that my burger came with jalapeños, free of charge. Excellent burger! Although this isn't a fine dining burger, they make the patty right in front of you and grill it on a flattop range. There are no more than 12 stools in the whole place. I have often heard that it is the small places that have the best food. Burger One surely confirmed this premise. This Hole in a wall is very tiny but very homey. Makes me think of all those little cafes detective stories. The menu has a lot of variety raging from Mexican Delicacies to Hamburgers. I had me a Philly Cheese Steak and it was prepared right in front of me. The fry cook and the rest of the staff were nice and personable with us. We also noticed that the meat was fresh, no frozen stuff that we saw. When asking what they reccomended. One of the guys recommend their special burger one burger. I found this place on Yelp when I was at the Met and suddenly starving - starving in that "must have hamburger now" way - with no plans for lunch and it was already 2:30. Burger One was exactly what I needed. It's not fast food - I went around 3:00 and was the only customer, and the guy had to fire up the grill and heat up the french fry oil for me. And the burgers are huge, so they take a long time to cook. But it was worth the wait. The burger was juicy, with more flavor than I've experienced in ground beef in a long time. I normally never finish an order of fries, I get bored and they get cold, but these were hot out of the fryer and perfectly salted and before I knew it, they were gone! The place did start to fill up while I was there. They were all regulars, but I didn't feel weird being the only stranger sitting at the counter. The only downside is that I don't live in this neighborhood, so I won't have a reason to go back. read more
