We stopped by for a quick lunch before the Met. Really wasn't expecting much from a place that serves 3 different cuisines, but was honestly pleasantly surprised. I got the grilled chicken sandwich, and it was overall well put together. Well seasoned, flavorful, with a super well toasted rye. I just wish it wasn't a triple decker; way too much bread for the amount of filling. The fries were also super super good; thick cut, but super crispy, with a really tender inside. We also got a chili burger, with the chili being surprisingly good. Service was relatively slow given that we were the only customers, but it is just one chef. Overall, will stop by if in the area and need a quick fix!

Two for $8.90 made to order. Pork American cheese and lettuce. 08/17/21

Burger 1 is a familiar business name to me. I never tried it because I thought it was just burgers. I've seen this Taco place for years and years. It's very small inside and the scaffolding hides it. I didn't know it was Burger 1. I've been passing by recently and today when my lunch plan fell through I went in for Taco Tuesday. It's really like an old school Mom and Pop place. I could order my tacos anyway I wanted. I eat very plain and the spice in the pork was just enough zip for me. I added American Cheese and shredded lettuce. The tacos were double shells of corn. They both felt heavy in the bag. I went outside and found a table nearby. They sure hit the spot after a busy morning. I'm recommending you try this place. The menu is very extensive. The menu is posted on the front of the business outside and inside above the grill. Check it out. It was more money than I would pay for a meal like this but it's worth it for fast friendly service with fresh food made to order!

Grilled Cheese Sandwich - very good

We ordered delivery and ordered the following: -grilled cheese: this was really good, the perfect amount of butter and cheese and the price was so reasonable. Finally, a restaurant in the city that doesn't overcharge for a grilled cheese. -philly cheesesteak: this was good, but it could use more steak and melted cheese. There is a ton of bread, but not enough filling. The fries that came with this were amazing though. -chocolate shake: this was great. It wasn't melted upon arrival despite how hot it is outside. Overall, I would recommend this place.

Great prices for nyc but sort of bland taste! Burger was an ok size and accompanied it with an egg sandwich for $3 to fill me up and meet $10 CC minimum

It is a cold Sunday afternoon and this place has only take out. The burger looks good and because of their have no seat so I take the burger back to my car and eat inside. The burger taste delicious but I wish they have seats outside.

YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD GREASY SPOON/ HOLE-IN-THE-WALL DINER... it's a real shame that i don't live nearby! i was lured in with an KGB deal! (which stated that lunch was take-out only BUT the workers were so accommodating they let us sit-in!) 8 oz burgers, mexican food, sandwiches, pastries, breakfast-fare (all typical of a joint like this!) -----THEY CUSTOMIZE BREAKFAST BURRITOS: i had a LONG list of ingredients & they were glad to fill my order! sausage (the breakfast link ones i love!), onions, jalapenos, cheddar, eggs, and mushrooms... YUM although it was much smaller than i expected! -----8 oz cali burger: like the sear & meat texture, although the meat was kind of bland! there's only a few counter seats facing the kitchen & along the opposite wall, so i can imagine the workers developing a relationship with their customers! NOTE: call before you come in because I think they close early if business is slow!

Mexican and burgers...TOGETHER?!?!?! K sure. Total hole in the wall with a tiny dining area comprised of two rather short counters. Burger was delicious, although if you put avocado on anything I'll eat it without complaint, so even if the burger was less than stellar I'd have enjoyed it, ha. Fries were above average for a burger place, and cooked to order so they were blistering hot and crispy. The taco was typical authentic Mexican street taco style, although $2.75 is a little high for what it was (usually I pay about $2 for the same thing, but given that this is the city and not Long Wharf in New Haven or the podunk little Mexican place by where I work in suburbia Connecticut, I suppose I get it) The green hot sauce is no friggin joke, if you're a wimp on the spice scale, forget it. Cilantro and onions were aplenty, which makes me super happy. Carnitas were delicious too. If you're in the area and are jonesing for a burger, eschew Shake Shack and walk the few blocks here. No wait, and more food for the same price. (Also when an ethnic type food joint is actually frequented by people of that particular type, always a good sign and testament to the food.)

A very small, discreet, hole-in-the-wall place about the size of a one-car garage that has only one line cook and one cashier. Barstools seat about 8-9 people: 4-5 at the counter and 4 by the mirror opposite (the stool in the corner is anchored to the floor). The seating arrangements feel cozy when there is no line to order, but prepare to surrender all of your personal space when there is. Ordered a carnitas burrito for $6+ at 2 PM on a Saturday afternoon while visiting the Met. I enjoyed the soothing hum of electric fans and Spanish-language news while waiting. Filling but not heavy, my burrito was roughly the size of a Chipotle burrito and contained sliced avocado, baked beans, shredded mozzarella, and rice. Credit card minimum: $10.

Maybe more like 3.5? Had a craving for a juicy burger and was at least satisfied here. Ordered an egg on top, which I preferred would of been over-easy but came out hard (maybe I should've specified). Burger was juicy/greasy but could of used a little more flavor. Nice plain bun to soak up some grease. Prices are increased from the pics on here, I believe it was about ~$12 for a bacon cheeseburger with egg no sides (not deluxe with tomato, onions etc). Seems like a good local spot though with a bunch of regulars passing through.

The front part where you first walk in is the bar area with some tables. This restaurant is on the darker side and brings you back in time. Once you walk in further that is where the main dinning room is. This is also on the darker side as you can maybe tell by my photos. The wall paper and art around the restaurant is cool and there are some monkey statues around the restaurant. I was seated in a corner table in a booth area that seemed to be for at least 2-3 people. I thought for sure they would seat me at the bar area. I had a wonderful waitress whose name I think was Taylor but I could be wrong. I ordered the Monkey bread to start off with. It's a very buttery bread with truffle and parm cheese on top. I have alot of allergies and I was searching online if I could even have truffles as I have a nut allergy. So, I asked the waitress and she said she had never heard this. But, she came back to me and told me that White truffle grows near or like over where Almonds grow from but that, they don't use white truffle so I was all good. Well, this was super nice of her to check for me. I had no idea she was going to do this. She said the restaurant has strict protocols when it comes to food allergies. I then got for my main dish the double cheese burger with onions and pickles. To drink I had the cucumber martini. WOW everything was pretty darn good!! I passed on dessert. If you get a chance or a reservation pops up in your resy to go, even if it is for lunch..I highly say go for it.

Our server was…read moreincredibly warm, upbeat, and full of energy--one of those people who genuinely elevates a meal. I only wish I could remember her name because she deserves the recognition. We started with drinks, and mine ended up being a surprise standout. I ordered the coconut margarita, slightly hesitant since I'm not usually a margarita fan--but it completely won me over. It struck a perfect balance and leaned just enough into the coconut to make it feel unique without being overpowering. My sister-in-law, who's pregnant, had a non-alcoholic Ritual margarita and loved it, noting how convincingly it mimicked the real thing. Since we were sharing, we got to try a good mix of the menu. The monkey bread came first--definitely a splurge at $34, but it's one of those fun, indulgent starters that's worth ordering at least once. While I wouldn't call it the best bread I've ever had, I also wouldn't change anything about it. The crab rangoon was another highlight. Having it made with real crab made a noticeable difference, and the dipping sauces complemented it really well. It felt like a more elevated take on something familiar. For mains, the French dip was a hit. The meat was incredibly tender, the bread had that ideal crusty exterior, and the au jus was packed with flavor--I was very glad I ordered extra. It pulled the whole dish together. We also tried the smoked whitefish Caesar, which was the only dish that didn't quite land for me. It was a well-made, fresh salad, but the smoked fish flavor was a bit overpowering and took over the balance of the dish. Even though we were too full for dessert, the restaurant surprised us with a scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce to celebrate my sister-in-law's babymoon. It ended up being one of the most memorable bites of the meal--we're still talking about how good that ice cream was. We arrived right at 11:45, and by the time we left, the place was absolutely buzzing. It's clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. Between the lively atmosphere, strong service, and well-executed food, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you can.
