College Staple - Late Night Gold…read more There's just something about a college town spot like this. After a night out, you end up at Chicago Cafe like it was meant to happen. This food is excellent and honestly one of a kind for what it is. Prices are dirt cheap, but the quality is way better than you'd expect. If you go, get the classic sweet heat dog, the meat lovers pizza with ranch, and a Pepsi Zero. That combo doesn't miss. It's the perfect place for lunch, a midnight snack, or just hanging with friends. Seating is limited, but you can usually find a spot. Overall: 5/5 this place has my heart.

(About six years ago, I tried Culver's after hearing everyone talk about how good it was…read more Unfortunately, it fell flat and didn't live up to the hype. ) Fast-forward to about two years ago, when this location was purchased and came under completely new management. The experience has been totally different ever since. Every visit and every item I've tried has been consistently excellent. Culver's has one of the most diverse menus in fast food, with something for everyone. The butter burgers are fantastic--I especially love the Deluxe with grilled onions. The cod sandwich is fresh, flaky, flavorful, and not overly greasy. The butterfly shrimp is cooked perfectly, and even the sides have been consistently well prepared. Every time I visit, it seems like Jeff, the owner, practically lives at the restaurant. He genuinely cares about the business, his customers, and his team. Jeff and his staff always greet me warmly, and he's constantly recommending something new for me to try. So far, he hasn't steered me wrong. Most recently, I tried the Reuben sandwich. I would have ordered it sooner if I had paid closer attention to the menu. It was seriously one of the best Reubens I've had--the flavor was outstanding. I only wish there had been a little more meat, but considering the price point and the fact that this isn't a traditional restaurant-style sandwich, it was absolutely worth every penny. And of course, the frozen custard speaks for itself. Culver's is known for its butter burgers and custard, but I'm amazed by how well they do everything else, too. Outstanding food, great staff, clean tables, and spotless restrooms. This location is proof that leadership matters. You can't go wrong at the Florence Culver's

The burgers were so good and the onion rings were perfectly crispy! The place was very clean and the staff were friendly. I absolutely recommend this place!

Shoals Shack was my personal choice, and I think I out bought the rest of our crew compared to the restaurant they chose. ;) it was so good! This is a small building on the outskirts of Florence. There's a little parking lot but it's carryout only. I was able to place my order online about 20 minutes before we got there. It was easy and you can even make modifications to your order, which is great! The website said my food wouldn't be ready till 1:45 (I think I ordered ~1:15 or so) but we pulled up at about 1:35 and it was waiting for me! I walked right up to the window and a friendly employee asked if I had an online order. I agreed and confirmed my name and the food was mine! Easy peasy and it was still super hot and not at all soggy. I ordered the Bella burger, which is a burger with mushrooms, Swiss, garlic mayo, and fried onion strings, though I asked for no onion strings on mine. I got a side of French fries and a cup of ranch for dipping. My order was made correctly. The fries were pretty basic but good -- hot, crispy, adequately salted. The ranch was delicious ranch and perfect for dipping. Unfortunately one of my fries did have a small, straight, dark hair attached to it. I'm not wildly squeamish about these sorts of things and it was sort of sitting by itself not touching other fries anyway, so I just chunked it and went about my business. This is really my only complaint for the whole experience. That burger...wow. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Perfectly cooked, juicy, a little unctuous but not too much. Soft bun, not soggy, right amount of melt on the cheese, meaty mushrooms in the perfect proportion. And lastly, the garlic mayo really pulled it all together. It was creamy, not overly garlicky, and spread just enough to get a little bit in every bite. I will be hard-pressed not to return here when I'm next in the area. Truly, an awesome burger! I'd be curious to try their other menu items like chicken sandwiches or tacos as well. Thanks, Shoals Shack!
