Stephano's is one of those really great locally owned pillars of the community that has been a long standing local favorite. But I'm not a local. I was in town to cut a record, and just got lucky that one day...Stefano's pizza was brought in for lunch. MIND BLOWN! I've had pizza all over (I travel a lot): NY, Chicago and even Italy. I can honestly say that Stefano's is in the top 3 best pizzas I've ever had! INCREDIBLE!! And the wings are THE BEST I've ever had. Is this a new school "foodie" place? No. Is this up scale environment? No. Fine dining? Nope. But none of that is what you want at the best local dive in a small town. Stefano's is everything your looking for in that one place in a small town where all the locals eat, because they all know the owner and the food is just always on point. Ignore the 1* reviews. I've eaten here several times in the past 6 months. Small pizzas, Subs, pie slices -- everything I've tried has always been decent & tasty, generally good. My problem though with Stephano's Southland is when I call in to make a take-out order. The woman on the phone always asks if I could hold, and the wait time for this process can be quite lengthy. Last time I just hung up and stopped for lunch elsewhere. My suggestion to ownership is if you are so busy, then hire an additional person to handle the phone calls and another to ring out diners. I eat on the road often, and this place is one of the worst I've experienced concerning take-out orders. read more

Had the BBQ cheese fries. Was delish!! Service was great. Had a party of 6 + 2 children and were accommodated greatly.

My friend and I have tried to eat at your establishment multiple times only to find it closed. This is frustrating after coming from Florence especially given your sign that states "open daily 11 to 9" - and even on Yelp it says you're open tonight. We ending up giving our money to Red Clay Table (delicious) and I'm not sure we will try again. If you are consistently closing early you should own it, otherwise you're just wasting our time. read more

Good find in Sheffield. Had their mega supreme pizza which was LOADED with veggies and meat. We were shocked by how much was piled on and how heavy the pizza was. Honestly one slice was filling. Very tasty - the sausage on the pizza had a nice spice to it. Try out the desserts. We shared a slice of cheesecake and chocolate pie. Both were pretty good. Atmosphere is pretty casual. Absolutely disgusting! The three lazy "waitresses" couldn't even bother to look up and greet customers as they came in the door. Seat yourself, if you can find a clean table without half eaten food and left over garbage. I should have turned and ran! After getting my own drink (ridiculous) The meatball hero I ordered arrived in a styrofoam container, it looked terrible, and tasted worse. Stale bread, cold balls (don't think it was meat!), coagulated cheese, and no sauce is how it arrived. I had the nerve to ask for more sauce to try and make it edible. After an unfriendly look it arrived in a styrofoam cup ice cold. Who does that, yea, let me add ice cold sauce to my cold meatball hero, that will make it taste better! I don't live local so I'll never be back, but if you locals frequent this place, I can't imagine what the other restaurants in town must be like! This was another great surprise in this ever-changing town of Sheffield! We visited Stephano's during a recent trip to the Shoals area and discovered yet another great place to find a very good meal at a very good price. Stephano's Southland is difficult to describe. While it is certainly "Italian" in the sense of offering some nice traditional Italian style dishes, Stephano's offer more of an eclectic menu that includes a diverse range of foods. If I could describe it more accurately, I would say that Stephano's Southland provides "Italian fusion cuisine." It combines a selection of classic Italian dishes (e.g., lasagna, chicken Parmesan, pasta, pizzas and paninis, etc.) with good, old-fashioned American food with a nice twist of southern hospitality. In addition to some surprisingly good food, the atmosphere wasn't "stuffy" (something that is almost a norm in most Italian restaurants). You really feel at "home" here -- something that is typically felt in family style Italian restaurants. We had a large group that ordered everything from traditional and tasty Chicken Parmesan to a pizza sub to burgers and even "buffalo fries." Interestingly, there was some live music being played as we enjoyed our visit and food. *BONUS: If you visit, order a slice of cheesecake! It was amazing! read more

I have been eating at this restaurant for years now. The food is great but service tonight was lacking. After 20 minutes we finally got drinks and placed our order. After an hour the waitress came by and said she would check on our food. Never saw her again until we flagged her down to let her know that we were ready to bail as it was nearly 8:30 p.m. They were plating our food. Some of the food did come out in about 5 minutes, including the appetizer of onion rings we ordered over an hour earlier. However, my Philly sandwich took another 20 minutes to appear. I understand that everything may not come out together, but that big of a time gap between plates served at the same table is not good practice. Just very unorganized--my family was already finished eating! Several tables that came in after us had already eaten and left before we even got food! The waitress did give us a discount, which we did not ask for, but I will most likely never return to this establishment. Overall, a very disappointing dining experience. I'm pretty picky, but I really like this place. From Sunday dinner to getting weekday wings, this is a great little spot. I contend that they have the best wings in town... We went to Stefanos southland in Sheffield today for lunch and 2 women sat down across from us in a booth and she ordered the hamburger. She didn't see the specials and when she did she asked politely if she could change her order. They said they already dropped it and couldn't change it. FIRST of all this is a restaurant it's customer service. Then she asked to speak to the manager and when she came out she said "the specials are written right there on the board it's not our fault you didn't see them" the customer then cancels her order and orders the special to go. They refused to make it. This is insane! Needless to say I will never eat here again! And to top it off I'm pretty sure it would be considered discrimination! read more

Great pizza, wings, and cheesecake. We've never eaten anything else on the menu but the pizza is the best by far we've ever had in the Shoals. We live in Atlanta but used to live in the area and still own property nearby that we visit regularly. When in the area, Stephano's is always a place we make sure to visit. I believe the rolls are the same made by the old Southland Restaurant that occupied this building for decades. read more
