Do not let the price scare you. Yes it's a bit much for 2 people I'd say at first glance, but the quality of the food was unbelievable for the little shop it was. Such amazing burgers and the fries were fantastic!! We ordered 2 burgers and my boyfriend accidentally chose no cheese on it, I asked them if one of them didn't have cheese and they said yes that's how it was ordered. I went back to the table and the chef says hey would you like to add cheese to that? Even though it was already made and given to us, the small offer really made my boyfriend happy since he was upset he accidentally clicked no cheese. Burger Bar is a part of the JW Marriott downtown located on Congress Ave down the street from the Capitol of Texas. It is a walk up burger bar with seating outside as well as inside of the JW Marriott. During Restaurant Week, August 29-September 14, 2025, over 70 restaurants are serving special fixed priced meals ($25 for lunch | brunch, $50 or $75 for dinner including specially curated beverages. A huge upside of Austin Restaurant Week is that some of the proceeds will be donated the Central Texas food Bank, serving 21 counties with a wide range of programs (food distribution, mobile food pantry and home delivery program.) Burger Bar's Restaurant Week special was 2 cheese burgers or 2 chicken tender sandwiches, fries and fountain drinks for $20...a pretty sweet deal. My hubby is the fast food connoisseur of the family. Sometimes you have to take one for the team. He got the chicken tender sandwich and I got the cheese burger. His chicken tender sandwich was moist, cooked to the proper temperature and the outside was crispy. One area of improvement includes revamping the seasoning in the breading. My cheese burger was messy and yes, I had a happy face (on theme). The burger was juicy with an elevated pickle and tomato taste. The French fries were long (v short broken pieces), crispy on the outside as if they were dipped in seasoned cornstarch. So yummy! 3 stars may be generous but 2 felt like unfair. I would give it 2.5 if I could. It's essentially a walk up counter on the side of the building with a small long table for seating. No frills. I got the double wagyu burger with fries. The burger was big too greasy for my taste but the biggest problem was that the bun was completely unequipped to stand up to the rest of the ingredients. It came as a mess right out of the bag and only got worse the second I picked it up. This burger is the closest thing I've seen come to a real life soup sandwich. (Might be a long shot but it tasted like the McDonald's honey biscuit bread - lol without they honey and not as sweet but you get the memo.) This review is for 5/14/25. This was a decent burger spot. I ordered the cheeseburger with cheddar cheese and added bacon, fries, and ordered the three piece tender basket. The burger and fries were good for any normal burger joint, but the tenders were seasoned really well and hand breaded nicely. I was a little sad that I could try and milkshakes, being as though they were not serving any that day. Not only that, but Burger Bar is also a walk-up counter with two long tables on the sidewalk of Congress Street--the most walked street in Austin. Yep, you are a baddie, and you brought your A-game. Visited Austin for a conference and Burger Bar Congress was a 1 minute walk from the hotel I was at. It was very yummy and not as pricey. You can get your food pretty fast depending on the amount of people there and very convenient location. The employees know you're there to get in and out with your food so they're working hard forsure. Since I moved here, I've been trying different burgers in the downtown area. A few days ago, I was absolutely starving so I walked over to Burger Bar on Congress. When I first arrived, I wasn't sure how I was supposed to order. It was late afternoon, between lunch and dinnertime, so no one else was there ordering. I walked up, looking confused and the gentleman cooking the burgers completely ignored me. A friendly hello or even a glance in my direction might have been nice, but I then realized I had to place my order on the touch screen on the counter. I placed my order for the double Wagyu cheeseburger and an order of fries. Of course, when I went to pay, the screen asked for a tip. As someone who wants good karma in life, I added a tip, but I ended up regretting it. This is a prime example of "tip culture" getting out of control. I am 100% ready and willing to tip for good, friendly service, but I literally placed the order MYSELF and couldn't even get a slight smile out of the workers. My order was ready pretty quickly and the man put the bag on the counter. Again, no smile, no "thank you," no nothing. As I walked away, I got pretty annoyed in my hangry state that I had just tipped for this. I walked home quickly, which took me less than 10 minutes, and the burger and fries were still perfectly hot when I took them out of the bag. I would describe the burger itself as a very similar vibe to Shake Shack, but you can tell the ingredients are better. The fries were a cross between McDonalds and In n Out, which I enjoyed. I personally am past my clubbing days and late nights out, but I can imagine that this meal would be even more delicious late at night after drinking. It definitely hit the spot for me and left me full enough without that terribly overstuffed feeling. I'm not gonna take away stars for the service. I learned my lesson the first time about tipping here. The burger and fries are a solid 4 in my book, and I won't downgrade the rating completely because of the lack of service. If you want to eat somewhere where people are kind and friendly, there's a place on every corner for that.
