Terrific burgers. You can watch them cook your meat made to order. I like medium rare, it was perfect. Our vegetarian person ordered the impossible burger. Another person ordered a lettuce wrapped burger (no bun). At our location seating is limited inside but there are a couple of wooden tables and benches outside. Staff is friendly and efficient.
Great little burger joint. The burgers were huge and the fries were crispy on the outside and soft one inside. Very limited seating / space inside though.
I forgot I started a review and never finished this...this was back in 2019 before this crazy pandemic world we call 2020 I have to say...this was one of the best burgers I've ever had...and no it's not cz we were in Amsterdam *wink wink* Something about Europe...their chips (or fries to us Americans)...man they just got it right...they're always thick fries...like THICC...perfect golden crispy on the outside and that soft tender center like...mashed potatoes...if I wasn't diabetic, I'd eat chips every day of my stay in Europe (and we stayed in London, Paris and Amsterdam) and the fries were amazing everywhere The shop is tiny...down an alleyway and had some long communal tables right outside. Inside the eating area had like maybe 3-4 tables along one wall and some bar seats by the grill..super tiny, my bf was hanging off hallways from the table (note picture) Burgers: there are piles of I believe brioche buns above the grill or something. they were so soft and soaked up the meaty goodness but didn't get mushy, the meat tasted of great quality where u can taste the beef...mine from what I remember had a huge slab of Brie, caramelized onions and arugula and of course a side of fries Being that it was our first time there and my thought process was a little slower *wink wink* I wish the front lady would've been a little nicer and given us some recommendations but either way I managed to choose a winner HIGHLY recommend and hope I can visit again in my lifetime
My husband and I stopped here our first night in Amsterdam and the burgers were some of the best we've ever had. We've both lived in NYC, the Bay Area and now Portland, OR, all of which are excellent food cities. We've eaten some delicious burgers and the burgers from Burger Bar are at the top of the list. The fries were excellent too, and come with a choice of a variety of homemade sauces. It's a very small place, with just a few tiny tables for two and some seats at the bar. You might have to wait for a seat, but it's worth it.
Let me start by saying this place is basically the European Five Guys. The burgers have a ton pf flavor and the fries are made a little different a bit harder but I liked it. It is a la carte to give you a heads up. The place is small like all things in Europe but the service was very great amd attentive. If you ever go to Amsterdam you must stop by this place if you're a burger lover.
Excellent burgers in a small but proper location near the central station. Very clean and they wear and change gloves often while handling the raw beef and other toppings. I was impressed with the number of times I saw them changing gloves out. The angus burger was very good. Next time I will try the waygu. Very friendly staff, quick service and all around great burgers!
Whoa, who knew a burger this good could be found in a Dutch city??? It's a chain and we walked by quite a few throughout Amsterdam. It's really good. Everything from the meat quality, to how it's cooked, the various toppings etc. it's everything you want in a burger shop. The fries are also really good. Very crispy but soft inside. Everything here has been given some thought for how they planned to prepare it. We went to some other burger shops but Burger Bar is easily the Burger King.

Best meal in Amsterdam. Or actually, all of my travels in Europe. I'm picky. I can only read English. Thus making it VERY difficult for me to find food I like in other countries. I can tell you one thing, though: I'm a burger girl. The waygu beef burgers at Burger Bar are awesome. Slap on some cheese and I'm a happy camper. They also add their secret sauce, think thousand island, which was very tasty and a nice compliment to the burger. the smallest size burger is huge, so don't bother with the larger size unless you don't plan to eat again until the next day. The fries were also incredible. I enjoyed them more than in Belgium even! A small order with one of the burgers is plenty for two people. Wishing we had one of these in the states! read more

Man oh man. I've been to another Burger Bar location (I think in De Pijp) and while it's spacious, the burgers were not the same as the one at this location. So yes, in the case of Burger Bar, location matters. This is a hole in the wall (but I heard they have seating downstairs?!). I was in Amsterdam a couple weeks ago with my sister, visiting from NYC (we love Amsterdam + we love burgers), and ended up at Burger Bar for dinner...obvi. It was SO. GOOD. Again, like Burgerlijk, one of the best burgers I've had everrrr. Juicy + cooked to perfection. I think about this burger once a week easily. I got the 200g Irish beef patty (my favorite kind + 100% satiating) with caramelized onions and cheddar cheese and it was BANGIN'. Fries + mayo...also hit the spot. So into all of it. Please don't think twice and just go here. I was considering getting one the next morning (afternoon almost...basically) before my flight out. But I didn't, and I regret it. Def will be back. P.S. The guys who work there are lovely! read more
Here's a place that lives up to its name. There's no bullshit "1950's diner" atmosphere. There aren't a bunch of fancy toppings that have no business being on a burger. There's a counter, a handful of seats, and some damn good burgers. The fanciest they get is the "Kobe Burger," which is 100% Wagyu beef for only €9.95. That's insanely affordable for this kind of meat, and worth a visit alone. And they're huge -the "smaller" 200g option (nearly a half pound) - was enough to fill me up after a full day of travel, where plowing into a giant burger was a huge relief. Especially with Massive Attack's "Mezzanine" album album cranking on the in-house speakers. Perfect for that visceral, tearing-into-a-pile-of-meat experience. The frites are quite good, too, but that's par for the course in the Netherlands. Serving bad frites in this corner of Europe would put you out of business. (Do you hear that, France?) One negative mark for the industrial frite-sauces, though -calling that goopy syrup "curry sauce" should be a sin in any country. You may ask what the hell a Yank was doing getting a burger while visiting Amsterdam, but if you've lived abroad long enough, you know that finding a decent burger can be a hard-fought battle. Cheers to Burger Bar for making it that much easier. read more

Waited forever to get my food. The two men preferred to make multiple orders at a time before dishing them out. They did that to the batch after my sister and I Then, a lot IG my burger is way too pink for my liking...Not finishing it. Burger isn't even really seasoned all the way on the inside read more

I was craving a burger and that's what I got. It was okay but it was REALLY done. The sign says that unless you request any different, the burger will be served medium-well to well...and this was certainly well-done. And the fries were okay, but got a little soggy sitting in the container on the 2 minutes walk back to work. The service was very friendly, so really no complaints about that. I got a burger with none of the regular topping but added cheese and bacon and that is exactly what I got! I will say that it's 1 euro for 1 piece of bacon...not worth it in my opinion, but what can you do? Get bacon or don't. Not a huge deal. It satisfied my need for a burger but it didn't make me say "mmm...that was a good burger". read more
I absolutely love the burger bar - so visiting Amsterdam again I tried this branch. It's exactly the same experience as you get in most, great burgers great service, however I'm reviewing this branch as lower because there really isn't much space to sit and if you do get a seat, it's very restricted. This time I tried the old Amsterdam cheese and mushrooms, 270g Irish and chips with Truffle mayo. Not sure about the cheese, but loved everything else. For another of my reviews about this chain you can see here if you're inetesretd - the experience I have found is very consistent: http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/burger-bar-amsterdam-3?ylist=fnVJjHKhHW6WUfW3cngxYA read more

A remarkable experience. Was in town three days and are there twice. Kinda speaks for itself. Only had the wagyu beef burger so I cannot speak to the others, but this was is fantastic. You get to choose what toppings go on the burger, and in the end it isn't cheap. I think we paid 30 euros for two. Once I tried the fried egg and that was just ok. I think it was overcooked (the egg, not the burger). The fries are incredible and in both cases I ordered the truffle dip (how can you go wrong with truffle!!). Expect to wait and there is very limited seating. This is a hole in the wall, but well worth it. This must be one of my favorite burger joints ever. read more
The good ~The price for the meat. Their 200 grams Kobe burger is 100% wagyu beef and it runs you €9.95 ~The options you can chose from 3 different types of meat, portions, and toppings. ~We ate here, and didn't eat again till the next day - no joke we were that full. What could be better ~The fries were alright for Amsterdam ~This location is small, but in a great area. if you go next door to the souvenir shop, they are really friendly as well :) read more
My God! I really remember this place like I ate here 3 minutes ago. I don't eat beef and pork (back home in the States), because well...I'm just fake like that :-). So whenever I go on a vacation I always go on a hunt for a great burger. I'm no good judge on beef but I am GREAT on knowing what tastes AMAZING!. THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE? DELICIOUS! Not so much delicious simply from the burger and the fries, but delicious because you choose the toppings and their job is to make it taste good. This place gets it done without a problem. I ordered the black angus beef burger (me being fancy lol) with goat cheese, grilled bacon, fried egg, and grilled onions. I chose two sauces for my fries, which were sumarai and truffle and they were SO GOODT! The food was PIPING HOT! Given to you in less than 10 minutes. The staff gets the order right on the first try and it's like better than all the fast food restaurants here...put together. read more

Superb burger - what you pay for is actually what you get , not like some places where you hope you get what you pay for . We have been staying in Amsterdam for 4 days and been twice ( at the wife's request ). Would definitely visit again when back and recommend to anyone in Amsterdam read more

Don't let the small location and less than roomy indoor seating stop you from getting the best burger of your life! Everything is cooked to perfection and how you want it. Prep time wasn't long but the anticipation was. I thought I was hungry enough to finish my food, but to my surprise I left with a take home box. They were nice enough to pack it for me as well. I will definitely visit again when I come to Amsterdam! read more

Went there today just after they opened. I got the small Irish patty as it comes with fries. It was very good. I didn't think I would like it. The beef gave off a smell I'm not used to with a burger. But I was very wrong. The fries were smoking hot fresh. What made it even was the hot dude who made it. read more
Hands down the best Burger in the World!!! Yes people the absolute best!!! And I travel the world so I outta know.... they never ever disappoint.... best part is they remember me and I usually go once a year. It was a half hour walk in the rain because I was too lazy to wait for the tram. They have different ones I'm happy with just a 200gram angus with cheddar, bacon and avocados. And he fries!!! What???!!! The best in town!!! If you're in Amsterdam this spot is a must. It has very little seating but you'll eat it so fast that won't even be a problem!!! Check it out!!! read more

This place obviously focuses on high-quality meat. I got an Angus burger, cooked medium (closer to medium-rare in the US), with cheese and a fried egg. It was delicious! And the fries were probably the best I've ever had (and this was after a trip to Belgium). Awesome burgers and amazing fries, all cooked to order. read more

Shared an Angie burger with my boyfriend. I love goat cheese so it was yummy. My BF felt the goat cheese was overpowering the burger (but he doesn't like cheese). Small place not really anywhere to sit. Was a busy location too. read more
One of three Burger-Bars throughout the city. This one located on Kolksteeg is tiny with just a few tables and chairs on the inside and a couple of tables with chairs and a bench on the outside. The staff is friendly. There are three choices of beef in two sizes with plenty of choices of toppings. You can order fries with a dip of your choosing. There are several drinks to choose from. The burgers are juicy and flavorful. The fries are hot and crisp. This is one of my favorite burger places in Amsterdam. They're also dog friendly. read more
OK, so me and my friends were in Amsterdam for a bachelor party/trip two weeks ago, we were dying for something, anything that would provide a fulfilling meal since we hadn't found anything so far. Thank God for Yelp, we looked up burger places in Amsterdam and Burger Bar was the top rated place. Who woulda thought we would find an outstanding burger joint in the Netherlands?? So we rented bicycles and rode all the way to the location at Reguliersbreestraat 9-BG but after riding around for a while, we couldn't find it. So we settled on Burger King which was really disappointing. Then even more disappointing, as we walked out of BK we noticed that two doors down was Burger Bar! So we decided to go back to Burger Bar the next day. Luckily we found the other location, nearby our hotel on Kolksteeg 2. Let me tell you, the burgers here are 10 times better than any fast food burger joint. I would compare this place to a good sit down burger place like St. John's or Naglee Park. Burger Bar steams their burgers so that the burger is extremely moist and juicy. Burger Bar also uses fresh cut potatoes just like In N' Out, just larger slices, and they double fry them in peanut vegetable oil so that they are extra crispy(we sat and watched as the cooks prepared our food). This procedure makes the frites really good! Like the other reviews have mentioned, Burger Bar has Irish beef, Black Angus, or Kobe Wagyu beef and you can choose from 200g or 270g. Their toppings you can choose from are bacon, cheddar, blue or goat cheese, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, avocado, and fried egg. These are all good in my book. I got a 270g Angus burger with cheddar, bacon, onions and mushrooms. In U.S. dollars the burger came out to about $14, but it was way worth it! read more

The best burger joint that you can find is here. There are too many branches around but we wondered in here for the best custom burger with different meat graded. I'll come here anytime. Highly Recommended! read more

Dam (As in Amsterdam) good burger. It's advertised as a 100%, natural, ground in the place and made fresh burger, with fries cooked in peanut oil. You know when a burger place advertises an 8oz burger it means it's 8oz before it's cooked, right. I saw the raw burger before it was cooked, and it was huge. How huge? As thick as an average bagel, maybe smaller by a little bit. And when it's cooked it doesn't shrink by that much. Mmmm, it wasn't a hard choice to make, I was going for the Irish Beef or Wagyu. I chose the Wagyu aka Kobe burger. No fries. Just the burger cost me about ten euros, that's about $13 for just the burger. It was really a good, clean, fresh tasting, a bit better than average burger. But it was not superb. Moist the beef, it was. The consitantcy of the beef I could tell it wasn't your average ground beef. Yes, different from my favorite, a Five Guys (I didn't say one was better than the other, different), better than a burger from McDonalds (that's expected) and a few other specialty burger places I have tried. In size, it comes close to a Jackson Hole burger but no, not the same quality, I liked Burger Bar better. The sesame bun was toasted in one of those drop in and comes out the bottom toasters. It made the bun a perfect golden brown, airy and soft. The bun was sliced thicker on the bottom and thinner on top, nice touch. I had my Wagyu burger with all the free the toppings: slice of pickle, lettuce/rucola and a slice of tomato. I ask for Samurai sauce, a lightly hot-spicy like thousand island sauce. For 95euro cents, I add bacon, there's only a slab, maybe two. It's not the slices of bacon from American markets, it's like a inbetween bacon, meaning a bit of Canadian like bacon and American bacon. It was good but no deep flavor to it. You can add avocado, cheeses, onions, mushrooms, a fried egg for about a little less or more than a euro topped in. I started with my hand but then needed a fork and knife. Fries are 2.50euros and again for 60-85euro cents, add sauce: samurai, curry, ketchup, oorlog... Beverages are 2.00euros. Again, a really good burger but expensive for a slightly above better than average burger. I would dine again but I find it expensive for this category of food where the only thing free are packs of mustard and salt. Though when I asked for ketchup and some more samurai sauce, which is held on a shelf behind the counter, I was given a few squirts free of charge. It's a tight fit, with only about half a dozen square stools to sit on and two tiny tables across from the bar like setup. If you want better seating and more room, I suggest the other one on Warmoesstraat 21. But I saw this one first :] They close around 0300 (3am) Sunday-Thursday and 0400 (4am) on Friday and Saturdays, which is when the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam's center goes to sleep. read more

They pre weigh the meat party so it's a very unique process. You can even see the weight scale on top of the grill. Coming from the states where napkin is just laying out, they have wet naps and napkins laying out. The small things that counts. Get eggs+bacon+blue cheese+ grilled onions read more

Great Burger. Would be 5 stars if they didn't "nickel and dime" you for everything including ketchup but I guess that's the Dutch way. Irish Beef was good, the chicken sandwich my date had looked delicious and she said it was. All in all a safe bet for a gourmet burger. read more

This place could compete with In N Out, easy. I'm a burger addict, and this place has won my tummy. Arguably better fries than what you can get on the main street. Super chill and awesome employees as well! You can tell they believe in their burgers. read more
