CAUTION: My Mom left crying!…read more Today on, April 15 2022, my mom went in to show the pharmacy an opened bottle of medication they gave her. This is the Second time my mom has received her Thyroid Medication that's supposed to be sealed from Manufacturer, opened. After the first incident, she respectfully requested to obtain a sealed bottle direct from the manufacturer and yet, this happened again. My mom routinely picks up her meds and as usual this pharmacy bills her insurance. She took it home and when she finally opened the bottle, the seal had been completely tampered with and opened. (See pic) She isn't going to risk her life ingesting pills out of an opened bottle not knowing if anything is wrong with the medication. The Pharmacist dismissed my mom and made her pay out of pocket for a second NEW UNOPENED BOTTLE of medication. Since this is the second time and she's paid out of pocket twice , I plan to report this because I don't believe it's right for a Pharmacy to bill insurance and take her $90 copay for tampered medication AND then charge her a second time for a nontampered unopened bottle of medication that cost her $142.60 (receipts on hand). There was no corrections made, no apologies, no investigation in to the opened bottle they gladly gave her in the beginning of April. Yet, there was no hesitation in having her pay solely out of pocket, an additional $142.60 today because the Pharmacist said she cannot do anything. It is unbelievably frustrating to pay twice for the same medication within a few weeks! This practice is unheard of and a patient shouldn't leave in tears over her medication. I am going to look further in to this and do my best to make sure this doesn't happen to other clients. For dismissing my mom's concerns and handing her tampered medication to begin with, then getting paid out twice, one star is the lowest I can give. They should have taken the opened bottle back and investigated with their tech/pharmacy/ manufacturer instead of getting paid twice by my retired mom that's getting by on social security. This pharmacy got paid by insurance plus her copay for a bad bottle of medication that they take no responsibility for and, instead, made her pay out of pocket again to receive a sealed bottle of her medication. This definitely needs to be posted. Consider going elsewhere for your meds. If you decide to come here, BE very CAUTIOUS & OPEN/CHECK your bottles in front of them before you pay & sign! We are trying to see what recourse we will take.

Burbank pharm surpasses the expectations in a pharmacy. I came here after being discharged from Saint Joseph. My GPS listed it as the highest rated and nearest pharmacy from the hospital. I was in deer pain, and the last thing I needed to do was go to a pharmacy on my way home, but I had to. As soon as I walked in, I was taken care of. I didn't have to walk through any aisles or wait in any lines, boom. The quality of service is so much better here than your average pharmacy experience. The first thing you'll notice is that the staff is much more automated and organized along with being professional. Insurance covered Rx as of course. The best part of my experience was that the pharmacist, regardless if I needed to know about the meds, gave me her 2 cents and experience, what to eat with, what not to eat, etc. A great upgrade from my average pharmacy experience, I'll be making sure to visit here, if I need medication again, (I hope not). read more

My wife and I have been to other pharmacies and none of them had the medication available that we needed. The medication is on the not found list and is extremely difficult to find considering how strong the medication is. Thank God Burbank pharmacy has it available. however they were only available to supply half of the amount that the Doctor had prescribed. But they told us that we were able to come in later in the week to pick up the rest since they had to order more. Despite this setback, I am still pleased that this pharmacy had the medication that we needed. The place can get busy, so I recommend going in the early hours of the day. The staff is friendly and will go over the medication information with you after purchase. Overall, a patient-friendly place. I truly recommend it without hesitation. read more

Because he's a small puppy we need a very specific dose of epinephrine, which most mainstream pharmacies don't carry. I visited Toluca Pharmacy for the first time yesterday. We were so relieved to hear they had the correct dosage we were looking for! Everything was going great until we were about to pay, when a lady from the back room informed us that the vial they had was glass and we would need to find special syringes with filters (which they did not have in stock) before they would sell us the epinephrine. Additionally, they wanted to check with our vet before selling us the drug. Fine. After getting a green light from my vet the next day, my partner went back to Toluca Pharmacy to pick up the vial. Not only did they not allow him into the pharmacy, but they actually told him that they were closed indefinitely, not knowing when they would reopen. Weird, considering there were about 5 people working inside. I decided to call them an hour later to see what was going on, and on the phone they told me they were open until 6... UNTIL they realized who was calling, and they quickly changed their response to "closed until further notice." The lady on the phone was extremely vague and rude, showing no remorse for the fact that the drug she was refusing me could potentially save my dogs life. I will not be going back to this pharmacy, as both my partner and I got very uncomfortable vibes from this experience.

KEVIN, the "Manager", is disinterested in helping customers, this is the third interaction with him where he's been hurt and makes it clear that he'd rather you go to another store than have to deal with anything less complicated than pulling something off the shelf. Note that this issue came up with Kevin a year ago, and he's consistently uncaring if it doesn't suit his agenda or his timetable. That that's not how you handle loyal customers. They employ one "homeopathist", who apparently splits their time between stores, and was not available the three times we called. Apparently, she runs her own business and puts more of her time and energy in that then in being on site for walk-in customers. Did manage to schedule a call with the owner, we'll see if that makes any difference in how this rather entitled staff handles loyal customers. Called on a Thursday around 3:30 to see if they had anything to help me address what felt like a hard-hitting cold or flu, RIGHT before a 4 day business trip starting that evening. Got transferred inadvertently to the pharmacist - a woman who was lovely and took the time to go through over-the-counter options. She said she would put them aside for me at the register. I literally jumped in my car and headed over- and traffic being what traffic is at that time, wound up right at the correct exit at about 5:15 (they close at 5:30). Called the store, got someone named "Kevin" who said they were 'already closing up for the evening' (? it's 5:15, but okay). I plead that I'd been in the car for close to 45 minutes for what should have been a 20 minute commute, and could I please purchase the items, perhaps they could just leave them outside or with a neighbor. NOTE that I've been frequenting this business for close to 30 years, and like so many businesses, have observed what used to be genuine kindness and care for customers dwindle along with the rest of the retail culture. So Kevin again repeats he's 'already closing the register' and cannot help me. I manage to park and make it to the front door at EXACTLY 5:31. EXACTLY. The store is already gated and there is Kevin - RIGHT by the front door - and he ignores my knocking. Yes. This 'caring' business about wellness that knows I am trying to beat a horrible cold before travel chooses to IGNORE the 30-year-loyal customer because it's uncomfortable for Kevin to show some compassion or kindness. He waves for me to go away. I plead that the pharamacist left everything right there at the register, could I just please pay cash and get my items after being in traffic for close to an hour? Again, he ignores me. That will be my last trip to Capitol Drugs. Caring and wellness, this place is definitely NOT about. And Kevin: I hope you never are on the receiving end of the unkindness you showed this 30-year-loyal customer... WOULD GO TO KING'S DOWN THE ROAD with far cheaper pricing for the same Chinese and Homeopathic remedies at 1/3 the cost of the re-branded Capitol Drugs items.
