Saw this place on ubereats and decided to give it a shot! It took about an hour and a half to get the delivery but the pizza was hot! We ordered a large antipasto salad and a large pizza with half pepperoni and half sausage. The salad was huge and very tasty. A ton of fresh vegetables, meat and cheese. The pizza was okay - the sauce had great flavor and there was a perfect sauce to cheese ratio. The was way too doughy, though and seemed under cooked. read more

Fantastic pizzeria. Thin, crispy crust, great sauce and just the right amount of cheese. Their white slice is top notch. They've always got a great selection of slices and drink options and even carry a variety of meats and cheeses. Lot's of snacks you won't find many places outside of New York. OMG this was absolutely amazing!!!!! The pizza was made fresh to order. It was NOT soggy, not over cooked, vegetables were fresh and smelled so good when it got to the table. The service was great. I only tried pizza this time. While it wasn't my absolute favorite Neapolitan pizza in the Valley, it was solid. I'd go 3.5 stars if that was an option but bumping to 4 since it's not. Ingredients seemed fresh but the 'fresh mozzarella' on the Margarita wasn't the super soft kind. I noticed all of the pizzas say fresh mozzarella, so it seems they are referring to mozzarella that is fresh vs true fresh mozzarella. I also got a GOAT which was a bit overwhelming on the goat cheese for me. I found the crusts oddly perfect for Neapolitan pizza. Do they have a machine making these? I'd like to try the eggplant appetizer and different pizzas next time. read more

There are two kinds of NY Pizza: Bougie, wood- or coal-fired pizza that you find in trendy Brooklyn neighborhoods, and the $2 a slice joints that you can find throughout the city. Buono's does a good job of bringing that second style to Gilbert, and that's not a bad thing. Thin-ish crust, good cheese and not too much sauce (white pizza with sausage and spinach is ). Delivery is really hit and miss so I'd recommend dining in or picking it up yourself. read more

We tried this place last night after reading all of the positive reviews. We must've hit a bad night because our pizza was nothing more than average. It was delivered lukewarm via Door Dash, I know that's not the restaurants fault. However, the bottom was burnt, and only half the pizza was cut, it's like they just gave up on it! I was looking for somewhere to take my kiddo for pizza and Buono's was rated the best pizza in the area, so I went here. Service was fine. I don't think they're used to children being there. The photos were misleading as to the type of space this was, so I felt awkward the whole time. It's very informal and divey, definitely can tell they have regulars most of the time. I've been hearing about Buono's for years, and as a New Yorker for 23 years, I have been suspicious and shrugging them off, but I tried it today and I wholeheartedly approve! I tried the cheese slice, the Sicilian slice, and the black and white cookie, shipped from a bakery in Queens, where I am from! Let me tell you, every bite tasted so right. I felt like I was back home. The Sicilian was so fresh and puffy, and the cheese slice folded like pizza is supposed to. The Queens and Manhattan decor on the walls doesn't hurt, either! Pretty let down by Buono's. Heard very good things. Went in and ordered some appetizers, they were not good at all. We decided not to order any pizza and went next door to Isabel's Amor to dine. If you're looking for a great NYC pizza look no further. Two times here the pizza is amazing and I know pizza I'm from NYC this is real NYC pizza JOINT anyplace you can find a great slice joint in AZ ( hardly any) the owner are fantastic and the staff of young ladies were outstanding. Move closer to Santan Valley I'll make this my favorite pizza joint. Great job to the staff. totally forget photos.., was too busy eating my regular slice and my Sicilian slice sorry. We stumbled upon this place while looking for another pizza place. We met the owner, found out a little history about Buono's and decided to go ahead and order some food to take home. We ordered a Stromboli the one with four meats and provolone cheese and a Calzone with meatballs cut up in it. The portions were large and there was plenty of filling in both. Good flavor and the dough was well done without being overdone. The interior is small and spartan but if you eat in the food is the real draw. Overall a fun experience and a good find. read more

Stopped in here before heading over to fox. The pizza is good, but the garlic bread is where it is at. So good! Its enough to share, but you may not want to. The staff were very caring and accommodating. If you are ever headed to fox, stop here first. No sense in getting a cigar and also being hungry. Not worth the risk. Just come here instead. read more

I moved to AZ 2 years ago from NY and this is the only pizza I'll get here in AZ. Nothing else is even comparable. I love the atmosphere of a NY style subway and the people are always so friendly. My husband and I usually split a large pie with mushroom and pepperoni, mozzarella sticks and I'll always get a slice of white to go to eat for lunch the next day. I am very picky about pizza having had it all over the state and all over the country. Everybody has an opinion on pizza and they like all types but for me New York Pizza is the best and highest quality of all of them and very hard to find out here.I just had.my fill on my recent Trek back. Lol For years there were no places in the valley at all that had good New York Pizza except Buono's and then they closed and moved on to other adventures. That was a sad day for all my New York family and friends. Of course they did end up coming back. However, this newer restaurant is very far from where I live so I don't get to go there too often. If you like NY pizza it is the closest to New York style pizza here is in the valley. Once Upon a Time B u o n o s was the only place that had good New York pizza. There's a few more places these days that have opened up over the years that resemble a slightly good Slice of New York Pizza. Even the owners from my New York Hood Pizza Joint own a restaurant in Mesa Arizona.now. That was really strange finding out a place I grew up with had actually moved to Arizona and we didn't know about it. Howeve, with that said Bono's was the original and only one around for and we've been going for decades I believe they stopped owning a restaurant for a few years to run an art studio in Scottsdale but definitely back in business now. I wouldn't believe Katie's review about people not knowing good pizza because I definitely am a person who knows good pizza. The original location is owNed by a relative and I have not tried it yet. Sadly, when the Original owners reopened they moved way further east away from me so I do not get to go often. Although I do know NY ers who will.drive over an hour from other parts of the valley to eat Here. If you like white pizza theirs is amazing. After stopping by Fox Cigar Bar next door, I decided to grab a bite to eat on my way home. With Buono's just a few doors down, it seemed like the perfect spot to pick up a pizza to go. It wasn't until I walked in that I realized it was only 30 minutes before closing time. I felt a bit guilty about coming in so late, but the staff reassured me it was no problem at all. Having enjoyed their pizza before, I stuck with my "bare minimum" order: a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. I couldn't resist adding some zeppole for dessert. They let me know it would take about 20-25 minutes, so I settled in at a table to catch the pre-season football game on TV. While I waited, a gentleman thoughtfully offered me a drink, which was a nice touch. Right on time, my pizza and zeppole were ready, brought out by a friendly young woman. She asked if I was familiar with their fridge magnets - I was not! It turns out you get a magnet with large or extra-large pizza orders, and once you collect 10, you get a free pizza. Good to know! When I got home, I dug into the pizza immediately, and it was still hot and delicious. The zeppole were a perfect sweet finish to the meal, with plenty left over to enjoy later. While I haven't explored the rest of their menu yet, I wouldn't hesitate to do so in the future. Buono's offers great pizza and fantastic service. It's definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to! "A True Taste of New York with a Family Touch!" This pizza place is an absolute gem! The pizza was everything you could hope for in authentic New York-style--a perfect crust, flavorful toppings, and just the right amount of cheese. It truly brought back memories of classic NYC slices. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. We started this adventure with their garlic knots with mozzarella that comes with their amazing, mouth watering, 6 hour, slow simmered sauce. We couldn't even hold off and devoured them before I could get a proper picture but you will not be disappointed. We also got a couple slices, a salad and some nice, crispy, meaty chicken wings. Everything, and I mean everything, came out absolutely delicious and with their special touch. What made the experience even more special was the hospitality. Jimmy, the owner, runs the place with his family, and their passion for what they do really shines through. **5 Stars - Buono's Pizza** I can't recommend Buono's Pizza enough! This place is an absolute gem. They've got fantastic lunch specials that are a steal for the quality you're getting. The pizza? Delicious--hands down some of the best I've had. You can taste the love and care that Jimmy and his team put into every bite, and it really shines through in the food. I heard about Buono's Pizza a few months ago thru a Facebook group. Figured with all the good reviews I was hearing it would be worth a try. I'm so glad I did. It's been my go to place 2-3 times a week the last month or so. From the pizzas, to the heroes, calzones, zeppoles, the list goes on and on. Each time is better then the previous one. The owners made me feel like family from the second I walked in till I leave. They don't know it yet but I want them to cater my company's Christmas parties this year. Originally from NJ and worked in Manhattan. Dont usually post reviews and rarely compliment things. Been to many pizza places. I am amazed we have found this place in Gilbert AZ.....actually better than most pizza I had back home. The food is made as you order it so it is fresh and not pre made....There were 5 of us and we ordered pizza calzones wings and chicken parm dinner and they were all awesome.
