My issue tonight was the amount of time we had to wait at the register to order our food. The drive thru seemed steadily busy but we were the only ones waiting to place our order inside. Then when they finally show up they don't even apologize for making us wait. I even told her i was annoyed about how long it took and still no apology. Then i give her my cell phone and she says she can't find it. I show her my text nessages from them and asked isn't this you guys? She replied she didn't know. The constructive: $22 for a mediocre Italian beef sandwich that was soggy with the juice is a little ridiculous. I got the meal plus some of the beef bites. It was ok. The food is good and was my favorite place...but no more and this is why, my son gave me 5 gift card, a $50.00 dollar one I used and 4 $5.00 ones. I did not use the 4 $5.00 ones which had an expiration date on them that I did not notice until yesterday when I tried to use them the cashier told me they were deactivated because they had an expiration date. I had double knee surgery and was in a rehab nursing home so I didn't use them earlier and didn't see the expiration date on them since I am scheduled for cataract surgery this June. The location in Valparaiso told me to call the corporate office, I did and I left a message. The woman that called me back talked do fast and did not want to give me time to talk or explain, she said I sorry nothing we can do about it. I ask to talk to a manager and she said no they will tell me the same thing and hung up. Well now I would like to now know the owners feelings on losing a loyal customer for years that would normally go to Buona weekly because she liked the food so much. But now for $20.00 in paid gift cards which I received nothing for them never to go back and spend my money there...it is the principle and the horrible treatment on the phone by Lida or whatever her name was. She was difficult to understand and by no means even kind. She was quite clear in dispalying she did not care. They could have looked up the numbers and seen they weren't used. First of all the food us very good. Had the combo with sweet peppers and it was excellent. The sausage was cooked to perfection! Secondly, I have to give a shoutout to the customer service. The onion rings here are prolly the best fast food onion rings however. Place is also crazy expensive. One sandwich, small fry and small drink was over 19 dollars. The sweet peppers are not cooked down enough so they are hard as a freakin rock! So you'll basically end up with a bread sandwich. I got the two Chicago dog meal with large fry and a sweet tea and six piece chicken tenders with buona and bbq sauce. It was delicious! The hot dogs were juicy and the toppings were crisp and fresh. There were very few people there maybe a total of 6 cars in the parking lot and nobody else at the drive up. I sat at the drive up alone for 4 minutes and nobody was there to take my order. Another car showed up 2 more minutes passed and they actually took there order first. Eventually I said I was picking up my order. The girl at the window acted like she couldn't understand said she would get the manager. Eventually he showed up and got my order. I've tried their combo, their dog, and their burger. They're all top notch grub so they're definitely a go to joint for me from now on. They're a good competitor to Portillo's, but Portillo's is a little bit better far as I'm concerned. Buona has better fry's than Portillo's though so there's that.
