I brought them in to McCabes to have them repaired. I was a little surprised at the price he quoted ($35 to re-glue the soles) but they were nice boots and still in great shape so I decided to do ahead even at that price. I was then equally surprised that I had to pre-pay for the repair and was told that it would take 2-4 weeks. Now I'm old enough to remember taking shoes to the shoe repair as a kid for this very same reason and usually such a repair would take two days or so. I can remember on more than one occasion sitting in the shoe shop with my socks on while the shoemaker did the repair on the spot. However since he's the only game I didn't have much choice. After 5 weeks (the receipt promised repairs in 2-4 weeks) I stopped by the shop thinking they had lost my number, only to be told they weren't finished and it would be another week. I waited three more weeks and then called to find out what happened to the boots. I was told they would be ready in a couple more days. Indeed after 8 weeks and two days they were finally ready. The job he did seems fine and I'm not upset about the price, although it seemed high. What bothers me is the excessive delay and the failure to even come close to the time frame promised. I would say, prompt delivery in the time frame promised would go a long way to improving customer satisfaction and improving a review.

I love the selection of locally crafted goods, and snagged some jalapeño mustard and garlic pickles as testament to things yummy. This shop also had nice selection cast iron skillets, boots, jackets and gloves. Seriously, this shop has it all, and I think anyone in the area is missing out if they don't stop in at least once. The owners are extremely friendly and they even steered me toward a pair of Alpaca socks, which I love beyond measure; every time I wear them, I know that I'll think of this store and better times.

My teenage son recently visited the store on his own, excited to ask questions and learn more about motorcycles. Instead of being welcomed or supported, he was laughed at by the staff and told to "do his homework." This kind of dismissive, condescending behavior toward a young person is unacceptable. He left feeling embarrassed and discouraged, which is the opposite of how any potential rider or customer should feel walking into your business. What made the situation worse was how my concern was handled when I called to follow up. Rather than showing any understanding or accountability, the staff brushed it off, claiming my son had "taken it out of context." It felt like his age and inexperience were used as an excuse to ignore the issue entirely. The staff chose to deflect blame onto a teenager--further minimizing a valid concern. It's incredibly disappointing to see such a stark difference in treatment simply because he came in alone. Whether it was because of his age or something else, the message was clear: he wasn't taken seriously. That kind of attitude doesn't just hurt your reputation--it alienates the next generation of riders. We'll be taking our business elsewhere from now on, and I would caution other families to think twice before supporting a place that doesn't treat all customers--regardless of age--with basic respect.
