Always best service. Great knowledge of what shoes each individual needs based on their feet.

I still do not enjoy shoe shopping as an update. Shoes feel like a permanent thing to have to buy…read more Probably why I don't like doing it as often. Or maybe it has to do with me having worked in a shoe store for a stint. Whichever it may be I am one of those people that will wear my shoes until it feels like you are walking straight on the ground. I came in here because it was time to upgrade. I tend to stick to what I know, went straight to the area I wanted to look at. After just a few minutes of deliberating I knew what I needed. This is where it takes a bit of a detour. When you figure out the shoe you want, you have to wait. See you only get the one shoe. You then have to wait for an associate to go on a kind of scavenger hunt to find the mate. Working in a shoe store I sort of understand this method. Don't have mated shoes on the floor so no one steals a pair of shoes. But unlike most shoe stores, Shoe Dept decides to do it in the opposite fashion. They put the boxes on the floor and keep every single match in the back. Or most of those matches. If you are truly determined you may find the match on the floor in a display. Which that kind of defeats the purpose of their system. The particular pair of shoes I wanted just happened to be this way. If I wanted to, not that I would, I could have grabbed the other shoe and walked right out the door. Especially given the fact that they label the shoe if it is on display and where it is. Anyway, I suppose I have veered off course here. There is minimal wait at the register. You do have to wait for them to "find" the mate. Employees could appear to at least like their jobs here, they make it feel like you are burdening them.

Walking in, the feel of the creaky wooden floors and old display tables and fixtures, brought me back to the time when I went shopping for new clothing with my grandmother. This nostalgia is certainly part of the experience. Woolrich is a major label here. The focus is on outdoor life, with everything from boots to hats and everything in between. The woman helping us seemed to be a long term worker, or even part of ownership. She knew where everything was, what was on sale, and how to "sell." We were looking for clothing to deal with the unexpected cool weather for which we weren't prepared. Good fortune smiled, as they were having a sale on long sleeve cotton fleece zip ups. There are 2 large mirrors around the shop that have been reflecting images for decades and seemed to beautify the person standing before them. The black fleece looked a perfect fit, and with the discount, $25 seemed like a decent deal. While there, I also found a heavy wale corduroy shirt with button flap breast pockets that fit well. We put it in the bag. Martin's is not the cheapest outfitter, but the quality of the experience certainly equaled the quality of the merchandise, making it all worthwhile.

I am not one of those people that has a huge selection of shoes, I am one that finds a pair of shoes and wear them until one of two things happen. I will walk them to the point where they no longer have comfort, or something tears on them. I have been on a mission lately to find a comfortable pair of shoes that look decent, but they shouldn't break the bank. I have been to a few other Show Carnival stores and I am just not impressed with the selection or store itself. I understand that women are probably shopping for shoes more than men, but it is a bit irritating when the selection for men is just not there. You have maybe one aisle of shoes for men that turn into boots. I know what people will say, go to the mall, go to a place that has sport shoes, but that really doesn't help. Expand the selection for men. I suspect that the target crowd here is women and children. You got boots, dress shoes, and then shoes that just don't grab my attention. I will definitely be looking elsewhere.

On August 20, 2018 I went in and was harassed as I checked out with my family. I came to shop with my children and I had my sister use my member card. Well the toad ringing us up decided to be tacky and unpleasant. She proceeded to ask if my sister wanted her receipt in the bag or if she preferred for her to just tell me how many points I earned on my card. Mind you I was in another register trying to pay for shoes as well (close to $200 worth of shoes just for one child). She was very condescending in her tone and made our experience very uncomfortable and very embarrassing. It was almost as if the points were going to be redeemed directly from her paycheck. What business is it if my family uses my card or not? Are items being stolen? Are they not being paid for? Are these points earned coming out of their salary? I am fortunate to not have any material needs but this sales person seems to be the type to call out a poor family or a person struggling financially to make ends meet. She completely lacked compassion and customer service skills. She is apparently a "general manager" which I'm assuming is a "Leadership" position. Shoe Carnival really needs to step up their customer service training at this location.
